He's doing okay. He's a little too young and therefore not much stimulation for him there. He's safe and cared for.

Delmar is fine, it's starting to cost more for my mom. She likes it there, I should have looked into the facility further. Dining is nice there but the food service and the meals could be better. Should be better. My mom had tomato soup she said tasted like warned V8 juice. When I've have visited and had meals with her I wasn't thrilled. School lunches are better. They offer sugar free deserts but never have them available. My mom may not make it through the year, so we will let her live out her time there. They are updating that's a plus. It certainly has helped with the smell especially in the dining hall. I'll change my stars from 2 to 4. Over all there OK, most of the staff care. But they need better cooks. The veal last week was not good., it was boiled!? Like I said they need better cooks. Food should always be a priority.

The wife and I enjoy our two bedroom apt, maid service, laundry service, maintenance, promptness, available oven, stove, refrigerators, dishwasher, garbage disposal, Wi-Fi, excursion bus, meticulous laws, shrubs, flowers, parking areas, bingo, Thai chi, fitness exercise, water exercise, walking group. full gym, arm chair, travels and peers.

This is a convenient Location for my family. The facility is aging and attempts are made to alleviate. Food is good but sometimes too salty. Staff is polite and helpful. Admin. Staff is cold and unfriendly.

Definitely wouldn't recommend memory care or the rehab services. The way the memory care unit is arranged doesn't make sense (which even a staff member admitted to me) & I feel put my family member at risk for falls because staff have no visual contact with residents inside their apartments. Plus residents were locked out of their apts most of the time & wandered the halls aimlessly. Not nearly enough activities planned. My family member was in rehab for several weeks after breaking a hip & I saw minimal effort to work with her & try to meet any rehab goals. She never walked again. Zero communication with family members. Skilled nursing was better. The staff seemed caring & listened to concerns & went above & beyond (returning jewelry my family member had lost). Still, equipment was iffy (my family member's wheelchair was missing a tire for several days until I brought it to staff's attention). Most times residents were left to sit in the lobby in their wheelchairs with no activities planned. My family member was never taken on any outings in the 9 months she was a Delmar. All in all, I wouldn't recommend Delmar for anything except assisted living. If you have the $, the independent & assisted living apts seemed very pleasant & the food was excellent for those residents (& guests). They seemed to have an active social life on that side of the facility.

Delmar Gardens Independent living is a great place to put your loved one if all they like to do is eat & play bingo. If you have a parent that is looking for more fun group activities, including the advertised outdoor pool, go somewhere else.

Great place if you are socially outgoing but you better be will to go to them because they are not good at including everyone. Also, the maintenance team does not follow up on request. The management team fails to keep their word when they say they are going to follow up in items. It is not terrible, but I certainly am not going to recommend them.

No place is perfect. It gave me the feeling of a cruise ship vs a nursing home. I would recommend to others. Location to me means a lot. It's a straight shot from my home to now hers. Takes me 5 min to get there. Makes it so easy to just drop by. If it was hard to get to I could see myself not visiting as frequently.

My mom has a roommate which makes this facility affordable. Everything she needs is right at her fingertip. She would like to see more activities after 3pm on most days there isn't anything for her to do. Overall she is pretty content she is 93 years old and is getting her independence back.

Mom has had staff that would not take her to her meals as she has to use a wheelchair to get to the dining room. some of the nurses in assisted living were pretty rude to her. As far as her meals she never got a hot meal and sometimes she would get no meal at all as the excuse was they ran out of the food she ordered and she couldn't order anything else.

My loved one is currently a resident at Garden Villas of O'Fallon. Watch closely how they approve/admit. The facility is short staffed. The meals are good. The housekeeping is okay. They cut vacuuming to once a week, so we brought a vacuum. Recommending this facility to others is still up for debate, the move in process almost ruined it.

Overall things are good, but they could do I better with communication and onboarding. Because my loved one moved in on [date removed], a lot of staff were in and out due to holidays. So, there were a lot of questions that didn't get answered in how things worked. The staff was also not educated on how to change oxygen tanks-there were several issues which made my loved one very anxious because oxygen is how they survives. The staff did listen to our concerns and did a lot of training for staff to avoid further issues. My loved one's room is nice sized for assisted living and they keep the facility clean. Our biggest issue has been communication and expectations. They tell our loved one something but don't do it and don't communicate. So we have requested they set realistic expectations, i.e., how soon they will come when my loved one buzzes them.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a nice tour but overall it was just not going to fit our loved ones needs,

The tour experience was very good but the facility itself was HUGE and had a lot of residents which to us made it feel impersonal.

Our family had an in person tour and it was nice but it was more expensive. They have a pool but it is not a lap pool and it needed to be clean it was a greenish color.

I was not impressed with the set up of this community and the way that the residents were housed. It looked like a nursing home and I wanted different for my loved one.

Great place for loved one as long as they are able to in some way help themselves. Not suggested as full care facility. Understaffed for full care. My mother was there and I met several people who were there daily to tend for loved one. I suggest you talk to family of loved ones that require full care and that have been there for sometime and they will also tell you how understaffed they are for full care. Take mind, this is a nice facility but not for full care. To their defense I have found that to be an issue with all facilities. Overall staff was excellent but overwhelmed. Saw several good employees come and go. I rated per my experience as a full care facility. Again, excellent place for loved one but not as full care. Again, to their defense was the best of all facilities that I've experienced.

We looked at the Garden Villas North when we were looking at placed for my dad. I found that I didn’t really like the decor of the community. It’s too flashy. It reminds you of a casino; all the bright colors. It just wasn’t a good fit for dad.

I am very familiar with this community as my mother had been here. They have done a great job with the remodel and the staff did a very good job showing us around, they were friendly and answered all our questions. We were not too impressed with the food but the grounds are beautiful, with an outdoor pool in the center of the community. My father-in-law said that he just did not get the feeling that the residents were as active as he is and that he would not fit in very well here.

The community has been or is being renovated and is very attractive. We have a variety of activities that should please everyone, however would it be possible to make announcements about activities over the all. Call once again.
