Continental Senior Communities

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced assisted living facilities to operate at less than ideal circumstances. I had hoped that my mother could have combined a safe, protective living environment w/ the social life she enjoys. Ashton Grove is doing all it can to beat that expectation while keeping its residents as safe as possible from coronavirus outbreaks. The circumstance has meant compromising some of its daily services to its residents. Always, though, there is a sense of love and care that triumphs over the temporary compromises. It has been as good as one can expect w/ limitations forced upon it. But the leadership and staff have never been less than 100% caring, loving, and professional!

This community is not completed but attention given to me has been excellent.

Needs to continue improving food selection and quality at noon and evening meals. Ensure/improve accurate up to date prescription information to all CNA’s. Replace trash bins when trash picked up. Get fire alarm system fixed.

I have no complaints about the tour I had at this community. The staff where on time to our tour and made sure to give us a detailed look at everything they had to offer my loved one. It was just not the right fit in the end decision for my loved one.

The Glenwood was a very nice place, and everyone was very friendly. I am sure, for anyone looking for this location this would be a great pick. It would be about an hour drive in traffic for me and we were looking for something closer.

My tour of this facility went pretty well. From what I saw everything looked nice and clean. The staff was kind and courteous. They were informative and answered my questions. It was a nice tour, but not the place for my mother and her needs. This is nice community with kind people.

This was a nice community but the prices were a little higher than other communities. It was really expensive and did not have as many activities and things to do as another community that I was looking at and the location was also further. The community was not bad at all there was just another community that worked out better for my loved one.

It is an Assisted Living community were you can engage with others. It is a newer place. It is very clean. I have had issues with upper management. The care staff was friendly. The food was pretty good. They have a movie theater with popcorn, they have cooking classes, crafts, and games. The rooms are nicely set up and have a patio. Their assessment of my wife was not accurate. The executive director was not easy to deal with.

1) environment is very nice, the decor etc. wide hallways, granite countertops.. 2) staff is very kind and helpful - they are not perfect, and sometimes they are short staffed. The staff knows everybody's name, what they eat etc. 3) lots of activities each day 4) daily happy hour at the bar - well attended My Mom doesn't have any real medical issues, so if that is the case where more medical type attention is needed, it may not be right for them. We don't have any place to compare it to, as this is her only experience. Overall it has been positive

Cleanliness has not been good. Clothing and bath linens have been lost. Not enough activities. The apartment size is excellent. The food has been acceptable. The staff is good.

If her cognitive abilities were better and a move would not be so disruptive I would consider relocating her. The food is mediocre at best. Responsiveness needs improvement. Turnover of staff #1 issue, starting with chefs! Cost to value is not on par. Difficult to change once moved in - hard on the client.

All the aids seem to be very caring. Unfortunately, they have not received proper training, or any training until recently, on dealing with dementia. After my constant complaints and concerns, this is being addressed. On certain issues they were to willing to accept a refusal instead of redirection. This seems to be improving

Current staffing issues. Mom fell and was left on the floor 58 minutes before someone got to her. She had her alert button and pushed it multiple times. She was scheduled for help with showers twice a week and staff only showed up one time in the two months she's been there. The first time they did her laundry they lost it. She also states it takes forever to get served in the dining room. These are all issues that are apparently being addressed but have yet to be resolved. The facility is clean and there are some outstanding staff members.

We presented to them what our Moms needs were and they misrepresented what the staff could do to meet her needs. It was nice enough but wasn't what our Mom needed.

I told the director that we were leaving. The secretary when I mentioned our departure to her is the one who told me to write it, a trick to get 2 more weeks from the director? That sounded like it!

Highgrove was bought out last year by a different corporation. Everything kind of went downhill from there. Different company in charge of food. Sandi was left in her room to eat meals alone. At the beginning of this year, the executive Director and the Memory Care Director left. Her room was always dirty. It was an ongoing problem. Other than the Memory Care Director, staff was not very friendly. Overall experience was not good. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Poor leadership and scheduling of staff. Some staff is good, but majority are either from a TEMP company or in CONSTANT turnover. Meals are mainly premade foods, frozen foods, boxed juices-- Very little fresh food. This facility is only for families that can keep a close eye on their loved one.

It was head and shoulders above the other places I looked at - physical space and atmosphere. They are new. New and inexperienced. My concern was not addressed that my Mom had become delirious with a UTI and was able to leave the building unnoticed at 4 am consequently unable to get back in for an hour until the kitchen staff arrived. The only option we were given was to move her into memory care which was not appropriate for a temporary condition.

We have used Highgrove at Tates Creek for respite care for my mom. Overall, this facility is a good safe place for your loved one. I felt great about the care that mom was receiving while she was at this facility. I would suggest labeling your loved one's belongings with their name because things do get misplaced.

It sounded wonderful when we first moved in. But there has been a lot of staff turnover, especially with the kitchen. They are all very nice, but there's lot of coming and going. They don't have enough staff to check on us often. We are fed very starchy meals, and chicken almost every day. There are not many activities, nor does it seem like there are many residents interested in doing them. It's just not what I expected it to be and expensive for what we're getting. They're also increasing the price 14% for cost of living and not really making any effort to make it better for us. I do like that they have memory care if needed down the road, and that appears to be a little bit better staffed.
