Think Carefully

The care services, I am not impressed with. There is a turnover in staff. The food is pretty good. My loved one does not participate in the activities. I am getting far less, than what I am paying. Everything needs to improve. There was an incident, in which the toliet was plugged, so it took two days for someone to inform maintenance of what was going on, and I was very unimpressed.

Not great for Assisted Living

The Bristol is a beautiful building and the rooms are nice, but it is not a good place for assisted living. I have dealt with 4 Assisted Living facilities for parents and other family members and Bristol is very substandard in their care. It is not run well. The floor nurses can't answer questions about the resident. The standard answer is "I don't know". They are not tuned in to the residents needs. I asked then to do a UTI test for my family member as she was getting disoriented and upset. It took them 9 days to get the result back and she did have a UTI. Another time it took 6 days to get a result back and again it was positive. She missed a lot of meals, her alarm pendant went missing for more than 14 hours and she was not able to call for help if she needed it. Very disappointed in it. We moved her to another Assisted Living and she is doing very well. The medical care has been wonderful and I don't go home at night worried that she is not being taken care of.

Bad experience

This review is for memory care. I would want others to know that they are all about getting their money, they will tell you whatever you want to hear. The director was very intelligent and knew just about everything but it did not end up mattering. They would not let residents see the doctors on the weekends, so my dad was denied care. There were many times too when they did not change his sheets and he was left on a stripped bed. I complained about a certain staff member as well and they reviewed the video of her and fired her, I should not have had to be the one to have point that out. I would not recommend them.

Change after a year and a half!

My mom was one of the first residents of Glenwood. At first, in September 2015, the care she received was exceptional, but after about a year and a half and many changes in the staff, the care she received greatly changed. After some circumstances, in which I did not inform my father about, we moved her to another facility in July 2016. She was only there for a few months before passing away. The friendliness and care we received from some of the staff members was good and the activities coordinator was awesome!

The cleanliness of the facility is excellent. It is a new facility. The friendliness was excellent as well. It's a great facility and they are great people. Their monitoring system could be improved to prevent a motivated dementia patient from getting up undetected.

Not good!

Was very disappointed! They were not capable of adequately taking care of my brother-in-law. Even though they sent a nurse to evaluate his condition to be able to tell us they could handle him. He fell 6 times within his first 8 days they had him. Sent him to hospital each and every time until the hospital admitted him for their care. He never went back to that facility you recommended again!

Highgrove Experience

We were here for a few days and did not have a good experience. There were people who would wander into my loved ones room. I asked the staff how to prevent this from happening all the time and they told me we would need to lock the door when we go in and also lock the door whenever we leave to prevent things from being taken - for a memory care resident, I did not think that was a very good answer. The staff are not positioned to be able to oversee all of the residents. There was a man who was naked and wandering the halls and I had to wave down a staff member, no one had seen him. They did a great job of re-directing him and handled it well. My loved one did not feel comfortable being here after that had happened so we decided to move. I had agreed to pay some of the upfront fees, but wanted to talk to the director about having to pay the full amount when we were only there a few days and I did not feel they upheld some of their parts of the contract. I wrote a letter to him explaining the circumstances and gave it a few weeks but got no response. I went into the office to make an appointment with him and again never heard back. The staff then gave me his personal line and I called and left a message and never heard back. I ended up having to write to the corporate office which was also hard to get in touch with. I felt the whole situation was handled very poorly and unprofessional.

Terrible

I agree with [name removed] and [name removed]. I did go to the management with my concerns and they always had condescending answers for me. I hope these negative reviews will have them get better because the residents that live there deserve better. My mom is now doing well at a much better-run community with a very compassionate director and staff.

This is not the place for your loved one

Someone will check on you every 2 hours - Never happens. Push your button if you need help - you will have an accident (urine or bowel) before anyone comes. Néed someone to push you to the dining area in your wheelchair? There is no one coming. You think your loved one is getting what you paid for? They are not! Again, I’m making it my mission to protect those who can’t protect themselves and those who are paying inordinate amount of money for services not being provided. [removed]

My mothers 2.5 weeks.

If you are thinking of putting a loved one here please think twice. The only positive thing we can say is the actual residence is beautiful because it is brand new. In the two and half weeks my mom was there, they promised us the world. They stated that there was a high staff to patient ratio compared to other places. These were all MISREPRESENTATIONS. My mom was first given the wrong medication (over medicated which essentially led her to a hospital), she fell out of the bed twice (in which one circumstance she was on the floor for over an hour until EMS showed up because they didn't have a protocol with our family in place), and my mother was denied being brought to the bathroom when she or my father requested multiple times during her short stay. The nurse and the aides said "oh we don't do that, they go in the diapers". SERIOUSLY? When we had a meeting with upper management they assured us that the staff would never say that. We don't want anyone to go through the nightmare.

Horrible place stay away

Management only cares about themselves and making money. Doing things illegally and getting away with it. , Thinking they are untouchable. They have and are breaking liquor laws, labor laws, fire laws, they are knowingly putting memory care residents at risk. They lie to your face, serve awful food, treat employees so bad they leave, residents families have moved out good people due to the lack of care, cleanliness, daily activities. We need to stop them now before residents start dying off !! Do not believe their lies, management does not care about you or your family member

Tour of Highgrove

The woman showing me around repeated 3 to 4 times about the "zen" experience of the facility during our tour. We decided against this facility because you had to have someone outside with you at all times. They woul have to take groups out and there was no independence. I also did not like the activities provided for memory care.

Poor experience with this community!!

I did not have a pleasant experience with this community at all. The nurses where never pleasant to work with and told me some things which actually helped me make the choice of pulling him out of there and putting him into another place. They told me they could not weigh him everyday which was medically necessary as well as telling me he needed hospice which he is no where needing that. I did not understand why they would not let him wear his jeans that is what my dad always wears and is comfortable in. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Please do your research

Family has been with the facility for several years and have gone through numerous Executive Directors, currently the absolute worst Executive Director to date. Her lack of financial knowledge and urgency is beyond reproach. We have yet to have a correct billing cycle, and her lack of concern is so opposite of what we anticipated with yet another change in leadership. She has ruined any morale that workers have tried to maintain within the facility. When questioned or confronted , her lack of knowledge and downright rude attitude speaks volume to the turnover rate. I would sincerely do honest research prior to placing any loved one within this facility as she has distroyed morale , ethics and legitimate care of people living there. Severely dissatisfied and disappointed.

Don't do it!

We brought my mother from home to Glenwood Alzheimer's care because she needed more care than we can give her at home. She ended up in the ER several times at least four with a deep cut in the back of her head from falling in the bathroom unassisted requiring sutures. And several visits to the ER period with bruises all over her body including black eyes bruises all over her forehead arm buttocks legs and elbow. There are several aggressive residents who have pushed my mom onto the floor as reported by nursing.I have gone several times to find my mother is loaded with soiled pants walking around the facility. I have had to clean her up. There are no washcloths or toilet paper and the bathroom and one requested there were no washcloths available. As my mother's health care POA I have made several phone calls to ask questions about her medications or her care and asked for return phone calls which I have never received from the nurse practitioner or Nursing. They have a very high turnover rate. They have lost their administrator there director of nursing and several nurses and staff since my mother has been there in less than 2 months. I have to keep her in there an extra month because a contract was signed that states that I was to give a 30-day notice before removing my mother or else they will charge a months fee. Annihilators that you do not send your loved one to this facility it is very unsafe and trust me you will regret that you did!
