Seemed like a nice place

I toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. The facility was well kept and clean, and all of the staff I met seemed friendly and professional. We ended up selecting another community, but this is somewhere I would have considered as an option for my loved one.

Nice place but poorly managed

Staff is very friendly and helpful. The problem is they are severely underpaid. There is not enough staff to handle all residents in a timely manner. Christmas day there were only a few aides working and residents did not have a choice on what to eat. There was no kitchen staff on site that day and you had one aide running backing and forth from memory care and assisted living. It's a beautiful facility but it's poorly ran. They should have plenty of staff making decent money for the amount of money they charge for the residents. In my opinion a nursing home should be fully staffed 24/7 365 days a year. They are short handed almost every day.

No. Just No.

Inconsistency with staff competency. Some are magnificent, others way below par. Unreliable medication distribution for patients. A lot of miscommunication amongst staff…no one seems to be on the same page. Unsupervised menacing residents disturbing/harming other residents. A lot of repeated missing personal items. No clear guidelines provided to visitors regarding visitation is provided.

Went to visit my sister over Holidays.

Well, I wish I could be more compli- mentary, but I must be honest; she has been living in an apartment there for about 11 years. I was shocked and ap- palled at the condition of her bathroom. The commode needs replaced. It runs all the time as the ball that stops the water from filling doesn't work. Rust in bottom of bowl was so thick it looked like a pile of BM! Time for a replacement considering what she pays for this luxury apartment!! Whoever vacs her carpet left 2" of dust all around the wallboards! Pretty unacceptable for what she's paying, wouldn't you say? She could have stayed in her gorg- geous 5 bedroom two story home on 5 acres just a few miles South of Granville and she kept an immaculate home, having been an RN and worked for two of Granville's doctor offices as well as at several hospitals in the area during her career. Sadly, she had a nearly deadly brain tumor that nearly took her life and she spent weeks at Riverside Hospital where they removed it bar

Nice Facilities but Unfair Corporate Practices

Poor management affects care

My father lived in memory care at CB for 20 months. At first the level of care and cleanliness was what we expected for a private pay facility. As time passed, staff and admin changed over rapidly and not for the better. The physical facility itself deteriorated. Promised individualized care vanished. Patient assistants are overworked and underpaid. CB has a donation box set up at the front desk so staff can feed their families. One has to wonder where the 14% rent hikes are going. I feel genuine gratitude for a couple of patient aids and one nurse, and the food seemed consistently good. But corporate ownership needs to overhaul management, pay staff, and reevaluate their commitment to our elderly. I cannot recommend this facility today.

Used to be a great place

The place was amazing when we moved my mother in (approx 1.5 yrs ago). But ever since the previous directors left the facility the level of care and attention has been greatly reduced. On top of the reduced care, they are raising general rates by 15% as well as raising extra care tiers by approx 300%. We understand that inflation has affected us all and can swallow the %15, but 300% on the tiered care????? The timing is terrible due to the complete drop off in quality. Here is an example....My mother has the tier 1 add-on care we have been paying for. The RA would come in and unlock the medication drawer twice a day so she could take her meds. Cost was approx. $250/mo. We sort the meds and take them to her 1/wk. When we pick up the empty pill trays there was usually 2-3 spots still containing pills meaning she did not get those doses. So when we get a memo that states instead of $250/mo for this the rate will increase to $700/mo. Again this is during a pretty big quality down

Think Carefully

The care services, I am not impressed with. There is a turnover in staff. The food is pretty good. My loved one does not participate in the activities. I am getting far less, than what I am paying. Everything needs to improve. There was an incident, in which the toliet was plugged, so it took two days for someone to inform maintenance of what was going on, and I was very unimpressed.

Not great for Assisted Living

The Bristol is a beautiful building and the rooms are nice, but it is not a good place for assisted living. I have dealt with 4 Assisted Living facilities for parents and other family members and Bristol is very substandard in their care. It is not run well. The floor nurses can't answer questions about the resident. The standard answer is "I don't know". They are not tuned in to the residents needs. I asked then to do a UTI test for my family member as she was getting disoriented and upset. It took them 9 days to get the result back and she did have a UTI. Another time it took 6 days to get a result back and again it was positive. She missed a lot of meals, her alarm pendant went missing for more than 14 hours and she was not able to call for help if she needed it. Very disappointed in it. We moved her to another Assisted Living and she is doing very well. The medical care has been wonderful and I don't go home at night worried that she is not being taken care of.

Bad experience

This review is for memory care. I would want others to know that they are all about getting their money, they will tell you whatever you want to hear. The director was very intelligent and knew just about everything but it did not end up mattering. They would not let residents see the doctors on the weekends, so my dad was denied care. There were many times too when they did not change his sheets and he was left on a stripped bed. I complained about a certain staff member as well and they reviewed the video of her and fired her, I should not have had to be the one to have point that out. I would not recommend them.

Change after a year and a half!

My mom was one of the first residents of Glenwood. At first, in September 2015, the care she received was exceptional, but after about a year and a half and many changes in the staff, the care she received greatly changed. After some circumstances, in which I did not inform my father about, we moved her to another facility in July 2016. She was only there for a few months before passing away. The friendliness and care we received from some of the staff members was good and the activities coordinator was awesome!

Not good!

Was very disappointed! They were not capable of adequately taking care of my brother-in-law. Even though they sent a nurse to evaluate his condition to be able to tell us they could handle him. He fell 6 times within his first 8 days they had him. Sent him to hospital each and every time until the hospital admitted him for their care. He never went back to that facility you recommended again!

Highgrove Experience

We were here for a few days and did not have a good experience. There were people who would wander into my loved ones room. I asked the staff how to prevent this from happening all the time and they told me we would need to lock the door when we go in and also lock the door whenever we leave to prevent things from being taken - for a memory care resident, I did not think that was a very good answer. The staff are not positioned to be able to oversee all of the residents. There was a man who was naked and wandering the halls and I had to wave down a staff member, no one had seen him. They did a great job of re-directing him and handled it well. My loved one did not feel comfortable being here after that had happened so we decided to move. I had agreed to pay some of the upfront fees, but wanted to talk to the director about having to pay the full amount when we were only there a few days and I did not feel they upheld some of their parts of the contract. I wrote a letter to him explaining the circumstances and gave it a few weeks but got no response. I went into the office to make an appointment with him and again never heard back. The staff then gave me his personal line and I called and left a message and never heard back. I ended up having to write to the corporate office which was also hard to get in touch with. I felt the whole situation was handled very poorly and unprofessional.

Terrible

I agree with [name removed] and [name removed]. I did go to the management with my concerns and they always had condescending answers for me. I hope these negative reviews will have them get better because the residents that live there deserve better. My mom is now doing well at a much better-run community with a very compassionate director and staff.

This is not the place for your loved one

Someone will check on you every 2 hours - Never happens. Push your button if you need help - you will have an accident (urine or bowel) before anyone comes. Néed someone to push you to the dining area in your wheelchair? There is no one coming. You think your loved one is getting what you paid for? They are not! Again, I’m making it my mission to protect those who can’t protect themselves and those who are paying inordinate amount of money for services not being provided. [removed]

My mothers 2.5 weeks.

If you are thinking of putting a loved one here please think twice. The only positive thing we can say is the actual residence is beautiful because it is brand new. In the two and half weeks my mom was there, they promised us the world. They stated that there was a high staff to patient ratio compared to other places. These were all MISREPRESENTATIONS. My mom was first given the wrong medication (over medicated which essentially led her to a hospital), she fell out of the bed twice (in which one circumstance she was on the floor for over an hour until EMS showed up because they didn't have a protocol with our family in place), and my mother was denied being brought to the bathroom when she or my father requested multiple times during her short stay. The nurse and the aides said "oh we don't do that, they go in the diapers". SERIOUSLY? When we had a meeting with upper management they assured us that the staff would never say that. We don't want anyone to go through the nightmare.

Horrible place stay away

Management only cares about themselves and making money. Doing things illegally and getting away with it. , Thinking they are untouchable. They have and are breaking liquor laws, labor laws, fire laws, they are knowingly putting memory care residents at risk. They lie to your face, serve awful food, treat employees so bad they leave, residents families have moved out good people due to the lack of care, cleanliness, daily activities. We need to stop them now before residents start dying off !! Do not believe their lies, management does not care about you or your family member
