Mom was sent to the hospital within 24 hours of checking in. And then we were billed over $[removed] for her less than 24 hours residency. What a total nightmare sorting that through. It took us weeks to finally get an accounting that was then completely incorrect even if she had been there longer. I really have nothing more to say.
Mom was discharged from home and we still have not heard anything or have gotten any money back for the 25 days. So I'm not doing any further evaluation until I hear about refund. I rated everything N/A.
The facility was designed nicely. The decor was pleasant. The staff bordered on indifferent to wanting to be left alone. The head nurse was very pleasant but her attitude didn't transfer to the staff that walked into his room. My husband was there for 5 weeks. He was very sick. I willingly paid top dollar for what I was told would be top care. He did not get it. It was a sad way to end a 56 year marriage. The night before he died I talked with his hospice nurse about moving him to a different facility. I was too late.

They always kept the reception area spotless and the nursing home part, but the locked part where my husband was disgusting. I guess if you have dementia you don't need to live in a clean area. It was awful. He was not taken care of at all. He always had wet/dirty clothes and feet. Lost a ton of weight.

This place was NOT as they promised. The place messed up my dads medicine. Luckily he and I were able to tell them. If my dad had not been aware enough they would have missed his medications. The food was promised to be great. It was horrible. They said he could choose what he wanted for each meal. Not true! Everyone got the same thing. And it took forever and was cold. [name removed], one of the nurses, was horrible. The residents were no encouraged to get out and about. Overall an awful experience. The activities they promised were non existent. We pulled dad out. Awful awful awful.

My mom was admitted on Monday. We were advised to give her a week or so to acclimate to her new environment. On Friday, 4 days later, we were notified that she was pushed by another patient, fell and hit her head. We were not denied visitation but in so many words were told that coming there may cause more issues. Mom was at the nurses station and they did put her on the phone. She seemed in good spirits but was slurring some. When I asked if they had given her meds, the aid said it was protocol to give BOTH patients involved in an altercation anxiety meds regardless of who was at blame. Mom was a palliative hospice patient so the on-call nurse was notified. She checked mom over and said you never know for sure but her head injury did not appear that bad. Shortly after midnight we received another call stating that when they went to check on mom they found her door locked. They opened it and found mom on the floor with a laceration over her eye. They asked if we wanted her to go to the hospital. We were not told any other details so we had them contact the palliative hospice nurse again. Upon her arrival she immediately called to say that the staff had stated mom had limited range of motion with her leg and needed to go to the ER. We were never told that. We immediately went to the hospital to find that x-rays revealed mom had a fractured hip. The doctor said mom would need surgery or be bed ridden but due to her age the likelihood of her surviving surgery was not good and if she did survive the likelihood of her being mobile again was even slimmer. After weighing everything out we decided against surgery. A hospital style bed was ordered for Mom and she was transported back to the memory care unit. My brother, myself and our spouses arrived there shortly after her return. The evening nurse let us in and explained that she had just left mom's room a minute ago. She was explaining the medical orders and as we rounded the corner an aid ran out of the mom's room saying mom had climbed over the rail and fallen again. After that mom had to be given meds from that point on to keep her calm and make her sleep so she could heal. Four days later she passed during the night. While the staff there was extremely nice, majority were aids and med techs with limited trained nurses in the facility. I strongly feel that the facility contributed to mom's hip injury by giving her anxiety meds after she had sustained a head injury early and subsequently her death. [name removed], Director of Sales I believe, was very sweet and compassionate. She knew every patient by name. Likewise the staff was always nice, just not trained or not enough of them.

Management fails to provide adequate staffing. It is typical to have one caregiver on the floor on weekends. Care & activities are substandard for a memory care unit. Staff tries their best but it is impossible to provide good care for those with special needs. I would not recommend this American House for memory care.

Worst experience ever. Moved in on [date removed] and left on [date removed]. Medications not given in a timely manner...never; housekeeping not done at all first month and only 4 times the next month, level 2 care $[removed] additional and they gave her 3 showers in a month and was supposed to be 2x a week; she broke her collarbone and really needed help and it took 2 hours to answer the help button to go to bathroom or any assistance at all; nurses were always rude about her meds and made snide remarks; they did not bring her dinner 4 times, mail key never worked and they said they did not have a key, which night person did and they didn't believe me, told us day of when the meds ran out and they were supposed to order them from their pharmacy, pain meds locked in a persons office and when they ran out the office was locked and meds not given over the weekend, no hot water 3 different times for several days at a time; there is no difference in the call buzzer as to if it is a real emergency and they don't come regardless. Questioned why they haven't come up with a plan for this and no answer for me. I asked one of the key people if they would want their parent there after what we went through and he said no!! Lot of wasted money on movers and more aggravation than as my 7: year old should have to go through. This sums it up pretty much.

They get you in there and change the rules as they go. Started with the walk through. Three different people telling you 3 different stories. No contract signed with total price of everything only to find out it goes up $[removed] within 30 days. Given rules and regulations after move in. Medication mismanagement. Staff lied to APS. Shouldnt have had all these problems with only 4 residents on the floor. Was only there 3 months and my mother fell on the floor and was put back into bed in pain until the next morning. The nurse totally made up stories to Adult Protective Services. Heartbreaking what our elderly have to go through when you pay such an outrageous amount of money for care

Moving mom to this facility was the worst decision. We moved her out today after 17 months. Since November we have battled bed bugs. This has cost us thousands in furniture and removal fees and for mom countless days of itching and aggravation. Since day 1 we battled incompetence in medication administration. They missed doses some days. They doubled doses some days. They recorded meds given that weren’t. In our 17 months they have had 5 Wellness Directors. Housekeeping was almost non existent. The management there is absolutely horrible. And since they like to respond to reviews saying it’s the wrong place. This is American House at 5812 Village Dr in Wyoming.

This has been a complete fiasco from start to finish. If I could give them negative stars I would. The people that work there are good people, management has been nothing short of atrocious to deal with. I have so many things I want to write but I will refrain. Do yourself a favor, unless you live VERY close by and are able to visit on a consistent basis do not put a loved one here.

My father has been here since [date removed]. It has gone down since Discovery Senior Living took over it earlier this year and changed to Seaton. Staffing is minuscule. The ones that have been there for a long time are awesome but are getting burned out. The company is more interested in making the place look pretty versus fixing important things like t plumbing. Currently they haven’t had hot water in 5 days. Multiple plumbing issues which several residents have had to temporarily relocate to vacant rooms .. including my dad who has been sleeping in his recliner since Christmas night with just a lamp (no TV,) and no one communicates to him about when he can get back to his own room. Last week residents didn’t get their meals until 9pm. The food is cold and awful. There have been issues over the last 6 months with lack of communication from staff, long response time for several falls my dad had, I can go on and on. We will be relocating him to a new facility very soon. Very mismanaged.

My relative died after being here only 21 days. The staff members working with him were friendly and kind, but the facility always had filthy floors. His health went down very quickly at this facility, and I think a lot of it had to do with inadequate care. He needed more than they offered but they accepted him as it is all about the money with Seaton. That became so painfully obvious when they charged thousands of dollars after his death! They use true voodoo accounting, and I will not be surprised if this has to go to court to settle. They tell you the first month is free, but all lies. You only get the remainder of the month free. For example, if your loved one moved in on the 21st, only the remainder of the month is free. That is VERY different! Being that our loved one died on day 21, we should have not owned any room rent. Instead, we were charged $5K for the month AFTER he died!

When the new owners took over, the old staff left and everything went downhill from there. They were not properly checking in on the residents like they should have been.
