This community says they are memory care but when my loved one had issues adjusting she needed to go to the hospital and they hesitated to let her come back. They continued to charge us without giving us a solid yes or no if she was going to be able to come back. They finally said they would not and tried to charge us for another month. We are not happy with this experience and would not recommend this community to anyone.

Sadly there is has been alot of staff turnover. Still a few excellent caregivers but most are untrained and uncaring. Minimal supervision on memory floor. Minimal activities if any

Sadness

I am moving my mother out. No stability. The Executive Director is rude and abrupt. Now there is another Head Nurse. I thought the one was very caring and hugged my mother often. You don’t get that often. Most people aren’t caring enough. There is a high turn over. I now have to take my mother out of the MCU and people should not look at the beautiful place because that’s all it in. My mother falling to many times and the Executive Director told me that the staff was well train. Not true. I have seen the people just standing in the kitchen and the nurse in the office while residents left alone in the TV area. No wander why they are at risk of falling. I am very disappointed in the treatment of people who have paved the way for us all. They deserve to be taking care of! It’s even sadder that I feel they might mistreat my mother if I say what is on my mind. The Executive Director is not a good person I think. I overheard the staff talking about her. :(

totally disgusted

My Mother is at this facility and we are in the process of finding a facility that is caring and shares our thoughts about her safety, personal cleanliness etc. This place is not the place. Seeing in the past any negative writings about arbor oaks has been taken off I truly believe this post has a short life span on here. Do not believe anything they say for they will make up things and say whatever it takes to get someone in here. Do you not think your love ones will be changed as needed for that will never happen. Dietary needs are not meet with the person's health in mind for they will give them salty and sugary things regardless of what their health issues might be not caring if they end up in the hospital like my Mother did. You have to pretty much stay on top of your parent's meds because you can't trust them to give what the drs has issued and they will not tell you when their meds are getting low so you can reorder. There is a high turnover of help there, especially cnas so I never know who is actually [Removed] my Mother's personal hygiene products I have brought to her. Hope someone reads this and realizes you pay a high price for your love ones not to be properly taken care of and I hope someone gets a chance to read this before they take this post off. Oh, I am a retired nurse so I am qualified in many ways to make the accusations I have made.

Found my mom wet many times. Left in her room, missing meals Sitting in her room alone wet. Dirty diapers let on table and floor. Staff turn over heavy. Fired anyone with experience and hired kids that were not trained when they were used. This is only for independent living and they will run you off if you get past that point. To the point of sharing medical info they are not suppose release. In my case they released info that was wrong and made it harder to move because of the bad information. This place is run poorly!

Do your research.

I had to move my Dad out of here after 3 months, because they were nickel and dime-ing us to death. They were charging him for just about everything, including bringing his meals to his room or pushing him in his wheelchair to the dining room. They would add charges to the monthly bill that he never received. They tried to charge him for a portable nebulizer that he refused, at the price of $1200.00!! We got a bill for nearly $7,000.00 for one month!! They never contacted me about these outrageous add-ons and I had to meet with them and go over every single item that he was being charged for, and make them remove nearly half of them. If we had stayed there, our bank account would have been completely drained in about 3 months. I moved him to another facility that was so much better! The room was bigger, the food was better, the nurses and the management were nicer and they promised me that there would be no surprises on the monthly bill without consulting me first. Unless you have unlimited funds, and money to burn, I would NOT reccommed this place.

Our Experience

Looking for a place for your parent(s)? Read this first. Two years ago my husband and I worked very hard researching and visiting places in Pinellas County for my mother and father who could no longer live alone due to their failing memories. We found Arbor Oaks At Tyrone (Memory Care Center wing) at the time [name removed] was the director. We liked the way she ran things she was also an RN. Most everything went along as expected from about 2016-2018 then recently the director changed to [name removed] and everything went down hill fast. Now there is a irresponsible lack of staff, untrained staff being hired to work with memory challenged residents and a lack of empathy and respect for residents. Suddenly my mother started falling all of the time and both parents were shipped off to the hospital on numerous occasions mostly during the night shift. Their medications even changed without our knowledge. We tried to talk to [name removed] only to get the run around from him and we tried to reach out to the owner of the facility all to no avail. We definitely learned a valuable lesson here after removing our parents from this facility. A director with a lack of experience and care for his actions filter down to the quality of nurses, assistants and staff being hired to work in the facility.

Terrible Administration

Over priced for the poor care residents receive, [Removed] the director is very rude, uncaring & unprofessional, he is never in the building & very difficult to get a response from him, he seems to not care about his job & there is no communication, it was very disorganized & you do not feel welcome, not a place you want to put family when management is so poor & staff do not seem to be happy or care, witnessed staff yelling & arguing in front of residents & was told it was nurse supervisor and assistant director, very inappropriate & unprofessional
