The staff were very friendly. The community is there for what you need it to do. It was a decent place that took decent care of my loved one. The room with nice. The housekeeping was provided once a week. If your loved one is more on the self sufficient side, this would be a good place for them. The apartment had a kitchenette. My loved one liked the staff, which is important. Again, they were very friendly. There isn't a lot of outdoor space for the residents to walk or sit outside and relax. This was a perfect place for a short stay. The food was okay for my loved one. There were hardly any activities going on in the community. The community did have transportation for the residents to use to go to the store. It would be nice to see more arts and crafts, or games offered to the residents. Everyday there was a list of activities written down for the residents. I would use them again for a 5 or 6 day stay. Any other community they require a 14 day to 30 day minimum.

Our loved one is in very good health for her advanced age. We just felt like The Landmark was for people who were not in as good shape as she is. It felt more like a nursing home than an assisted living facility, for people with a lot of medical issues. And we were looking for a place where she could be more active and social.

My loved one went in pretty much self care, although he did have Alzheimer's. He had some pretty negative feelings about being placed at any facility, not necessarily The Pointe specifically. Once he moved in, his condition rapidly declined to the extent that he needed more help. The Pointe took a while to recognize that. Once they did recognize it, they did assist with getting hospice care set up. But even at that point, I had to have a stern conversation with The Pointe about the level of care that he needed, and I don't think it should have had to come down to that. After that conversation, they moved him to a higher level of care, but hospice had already picked him up full time 24/7 by that time.

The meals at this community when it was Atria were delicious, however once it was changed over the food really declined. But it is much more of a youthful and young hearten community. The staff are extremely nice, however the maintenance team can be kind of nasty and rude. Also, the activities director favors the men, so us women did feel unappreciated when it came to being included in the activities.

The common area was beautiful and gives a really good first impression, but the apartments were dark and had an odor. The hallways that led to the apartments were dirty and needed a fresh coat of paint. I would not feel comfortable with my Mom living there.

My mother is healing pretty well here at this care home. I know she is safe and in good hands here. I'am pleased with everything they have done. They are providing her with good care. I don't if this would be a long term care home for her. They do have limited staff, which concerns me. It is a very nice place for the right person, and I would recommend it.

We have had somewhat of a mixed experience with Horizon Bay Clearwater. The facility itself is very nice, it's got a warm homey feel and it is always clean and well kept. They also have some very nice, very accommodating people working here. The problem we have run into is that the communication between staff members could use a lot of work, the left hand doesn't seem to know what the right hand is doing. They're always happy to help with any requests, but sometimes you really have to stay on top of them and ask multiple times before something will get done.

I think Horizon Bay is a nice place overall, but there are also a few ways I think they could improve. The facility itself is well kept and clean, and the staff have all been friendly. However, for the price the apartments are a little small. I also believe they're a little too involved in the day to day lives of the residents. I'm not, nor is my loved one, entirely comfortable with things like scheduled wake-up times and bed times. They also tend to implement these sorts of things without consulting the the family first. But overall it is a nice enough place.

My mom attended two weeks of respit care. Unfortunately it was not the success we hoped for. She contracted scabies. She also complained about the food. We decided on another assisted living instead. Hopefully we will have better luck there.

Larger facility - it's a large apartment style complex. Didn't have the right feel for what we were looking for. Just too large but the lady was very nice, and the building was nice. Everyone has their own idea of what they want when they go looking, and this was just too large for us.

Our family had an in person tour and Arbor Oaks was very sad. A lot of residents sitting around in wheelchairs, idle, nothing stimulating going on except one TV was playing. Again, it may have had to do with the timing of our visit, but we left with our mindset at a "absolutely ruled out".

I am very disappointed in the way that things worked out in regards to having my brother get additional care such as therapy. The cost was not explained clearly to us and now we find out that it is not covered under his insurance. The staff and the administration staff is very friendly and kind. The community is very nice however nothing else seems to matter because of this thing with the insurance. and what was covered and not covered.

Our only experience is in the memory care where they have too many patients and not enough staff. The money making system that's in place kept my mother-in-law on anorexic drugs that made her hungry long past the time when her 90 year old body was trying to shut down. They did that in order to keep her as a monthly income, even though it was against what was best for her. If it were not for Vitas hospice care pointing out the bed sores and open wounds, we would not have known. We brought her home from the institution for her last two weeks of life, which was a blessing

I stayed the night with mom. Christmas night. She was put to bed without being taken to the bathroom still in her Christmas dress. About 2 am u pushed her button for help getting her to the bathroom. It took over half an hour for someone to come to her room. They said they couldn't help her that she was too heavy and they walked out of her car room. I went after them and said that wasn't acceptable. They didn't come back. I am scared to think of how they treated her when I am not around. I asked them to change her into her nightshirt. They wouldn't do that either. The facility charged extra for incontinence care but they never did anything extra for her. They charged extra because she ate in her room but she had private caregivers who went to the kitchen to pick up her food and brought back the dirty dishes. I still got a list.
