Very Poor

I would not even consider it here. The care was really bad. It wasn't satisfactory at all. I would not recommend it for anybody. They just weren't taking care of my loved one. She was only there a short time and ended up breaking her hand. I had to take her out of there as quickly as possible.

Could use improvement

We are very frustrated with the care these residents are receiving. The for value it is not the care you would except. Sometimes the food is okay, and they do have activities going on in the memory care unit, but there just seems to be a lack of help and proper caregivers.

Nightmare at The Garden Club

The front door isn't locked until 7:30 or so, and the staff leaves at or before 7. So anybody could come in during that 30 minute period. And that also means your loved one is there with no help. If there was an incident, they would have to call 911. The food was just horrible. The cereal was stale. The bacon was raw. The food was inedible 80% of the time. There were sandwiches for dinner every night. I don't even know how they could make it so bad. The staff appeared to be nice at first, but they did not like us. They would greet others and ignore us. They didn't clean our apartment for five months. The common spaces were clean, but they did not clean our apartment. The residents were amazing, the staff was sketchy. I don't even have words for the director. They did make an effort with activities, they were just poorly executed, like hallway bingo that we couldn't hear . They started not giving dessert, started having portions of her meal missing, like the meat, or part of the vegetables. When we addressed it with The Garden Club, they said she was lying and that they were going to start taking pictures of it. They were gaslighting her. Everything she had a concern about, they told her it was all in her head. They told her she was mean to the other residents, and she is not a mean person. They wouldn't change the bed linens, and then my loved one injured her ribs trying to do it herself. We knew the vaccines were coming, and every time we would ask, they would say we don't know when, we don't know. Come to find out, they were making a list of residents who were interested, but closed the list before we could be added. The director threatened to call the police on us if we did not leave the property. The mind games were out of control. If I wasn't there to witness how they treated my loved one, I would probably think she was making things up or blowing it out of proportion. But I saw it. I was there, and it was awful. Living there was an absolute nightmare. And I don't know what we did to upset them or make them want to treat us so poorly. The director made fun of an illness and injury I had. After speaking with him, my loved one would come out of the room sobbing, and that's not like her. They treated her like a child. Every time we questioned the staff, they would all swear up and down they didn't know what was going on. There was only one person who would look at the floor and nod her head, and go out of her way to help us. The amount of Covid cases there was insane. There were ambulances coming in and out of that place all the time. It was just very unnerving to see all that.

Horrible customer service

My dad was transferred to FVV from the hospital. He needed of rehab, a service they advertise. They do not offer physical therapy other than getting a person out of bed once a day. We arranged for him to be transferred to another facility. The case manager was asked numerous times by the insurance company to send records for approval. It took 1.5 weeks for FVV to send them. It stated my dad could get up and down with a “light touch”, a lie. The insurance company denied the claim and ordered him released from FVV. My dad cannot get up without assistance and is only able to walk a few steps with a walker, making it difficult for my 77 year old mom. The case manager was suppose to find my dad in-home rehab. It’s been almost a week and nothing. I have left a message with The facility director, but she also doesn’t care about the residents either because she hasn’t called back. If they would have done their jobs, my dad would have gotten the help he needed to return to lunassisted life.

Unless You're Rich, Don't Go There

I did not feel like they cared well for our loved one, and I felt like they were out for the money and that's all they cared about. It's a nice place if you're healthy and just looking to retire, and you have the money to afford it. We were just not impressed with it.

Review of Vineyard Place

Extremely poor management, poor food, poor maintenance, etc. This is advertised as an "Independent Living" facility; however, we have many residents who need to be in an "Assisted Living" facility. Activities here are just sad -- just bingo, coloring, etc. The activity director is very poor. It's been 2 years since I moved in, and it's been a downhill slide ever since.

I have Covid-19. I was diagnosed a week ago, they told me they would check on me everyday, they have checked on me one time. I need help with laundry since I am quarantined and can't leave my apartment, I asked for help and no one ever got back to me. My son called and they said to put it outside my door on Monday and they would pick it up. Today is Monday and it was sitting out there half the day. I called my son and he had to call back and it finally got picked up. They only change the sheets every 2.5 weeks and they are suppose to change them every week. My apartment has not been vacuumed in a month. I never get the food I order and when it does get here it is cold. The staff never follows up on anything I ask about.

Do not put your loved in this facility

Unfortunately Pinecrest is an administrative nightmare! The suite that we rented took 2 months to be completed. The community fee is ridiculously high, $7500 and with all that said, my relative is being billed for $12,000 for 2.5 months rent in for a guest room because her room wasn’t completed. The management has refused to adjust the bill, refused to accept any responsibility, needless to say these actions caused a downturn in the health of the resident. We had to seek a new residence (expedited) and start on a new path of recovery.

Review of Cedar Village AL

Memory Care was "carved out" of A.L. Rooms. Trash not emptied. Closet doors fall off tracks. Call lights not answered for 30+ minutes. Food arrives cold because it comes from other side of the building. Med aides unfamiliar with drugs and their usage. Controlled substances "disappear". Residents hair rarely washed. Snacks not offered in M.C. Residents not brought to meals in M.C. Locked access to M.C. does not lock for 15-30 sec after someone enters or leaves.

A Steep Decline

My relative chose this place a couple of years ago because it was nice during the tour. However, it's gone downhill since then, and in the past few months it's gotten abysmal. They are chronically understaffed, they don't clean regularly, the garbage piles up. The food has gotten horrible, too (not that it was ever great) and now portions are shrinking. "DInner" is often a tiny half of a sandwich with almost nothing on it and a cup of soup. Food also tastes industrial (canned soup) and there are NEVER fresh vegetables. They don't have options for dietary restrictions. Current manager doesn't care about the residents or the staff. And they obviously aren't paying their food purveyors, as they keep using the excuse that the vendor didn't deliver.

Lack of care for the elderly

I went with friends to see their mother at Pheasant Pointe. While there, I witnessed 1 staff member doing her best to care for 10 clients, while another staff member was focused on her phone, oblivious to what was going on around her. This was unacceptable to expect one person to care for so many clients, with so many different needs. My friends were there as they had concerns. They were informed on Friday, that a staff member felt their mother had a UTI. No medical help was provided to their mother and they knew that this could become serious in elderly people. My friends chose to take their mother to urgent care, on Sunday, where it was confirmed, that she did indeed have a UTI. This could have turned into a serious situation, but thankfully it didn't!

AVOID THE ASSISTED LIVING AT THIS COMMUNITY!

If you are seeking to find an independent living community with various amenities, then Andara may be a viable option. There are different floor plans to meet various needs. The community grounds are pretty and the waterfall in the community pool is soothing and inviting to both residents and visitors. The activities are plentiful and varied thanks to [name removed], the Activity Director, who strives to continually exceed resident's expectations! The Finance Manager, [name removed], consistently responds to residents and family members no matter how large or small the requests. Most of the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. And, [name removed] was a delight to interact with on a weekly basis! Kudos to these individuals for trying to make Andara a better community! If you are considering the assisted living side of this community, I DON'T recommend it to anyone. Hence, the one star rating. For a first hand review of some of the gaps with Andara Assisted Living, I'd recommend that you check out the 2018 State Audit results. A few issues that I consistently observed about Andara Assisted Living included (but are not limited to) the following: There was a constant churn of staff who came and went so quickly that new faces seemed to appear each week resulting in gaps with consistently carrying out basic tasks. The last nurse (the fourth nurse since 2016) was rarely in the office and when she was there, her door was closed and she didn't seem to have a good handle on the staff or residents. Additionally, constant back stabbing and rifts were an ongoing source of little to no teamwork among the staff. The processes appeared to be fragmented, lacked automation and were laden with human errors (e.g., a medical technician sent paperwork about my loved one with the paramedics which had incorrect birth date, Medicare information and other relevant information which caused delays with critical testing at the hospital). And, while a care plan was developed for my loved one, out-dated information continued to appear on the plan and required follow-up with the nurse to make the necessary corrections. Additionally, I was asked to complete several pages of paperwork (before the state audit commenced) that had originally been completed when my loved one moved into the assisted living side of the community. When I asked a medical technician why I was having to complete paperwork that had already been done, the response given was that leadership had no idea what happened to it. Corners appeared to be continually cut with daily/weekly tasks such laundering and showering of my loved one and finger pointing was plentiful among the staff when questioned about the status of completing these tasks. Personal belongings and hygiene articles also started to disappear from my loved ones apartment yet, when I reported this to leadership, little to no action was taken. Staff members were also observed laughing at and/or making derogatory comments about residents who were experiencing confusion or difficulty. And, these same employees had been seen (on more than one occasion) telling residents to 'shut up'. The list of gaps is much longer than I can outline in this review, however, I'm sure that you get the point. And, while the new executive director (this is the fourth person in this role since 2016), appears to have a desire to improve the community, the gaps are too significant within the assisted living side to be a viable option for anyone. There are too many other options out there that offer better care at comparable or a more competitive price than Andara. Speaking from personal experience, I suggest that you DO NOT consider Andara Assisted Living (under any circumstance) as an option for your loved one. It will only bring ongoing headaches and work on your part. And, your loved one(s) will incur the most impact from the numerous inconsistencies and gaps.

I wouldn't recommend bringing your loved one here

Honestly, I think this facility is very antiquated. The building was built many years ago, maybe the 70s, you could tell the carpet was worn out, and I don’t think they’ve had the opportunity to update anything since then. One thing I wasn’t really excited about was the refrigerator in the apartment. It’s like a mini fridge you’d find in a hotel and it’s set on the floor. For seniors, I don’t think it’s good for them to get that low and it didn’t feel very safe. I asked if they had plans to update the fridge or anything in the kitchen and they said no because they didn’t have the funding but that we could bring our own table to set the fridge on. I didn’t feel like that was an appropriate answer. The decks outside had rails that weren’t safe and you couldn’t even walk around the outside because there was no sidewalk and a lot of the bricks were out of place because of the roots from the trees. The blocks weren’t leveled and it was just a huge safety hazard. The manager was very nice and the residents were friendly, but this place really needs to be brought into the 21st century. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless it’s updated.

I was disappointed

I went on a tour here and the staff was nice and answered all of my questions. There was an overwhelming smell of air freshener or chemicals to cover up the smell. The walls were painted stark white and you can see all the dirt and handprints on the walls. It was on the expensive side. We went into the memory care unit and had to immediately leave because of the smell. The dining room tables were covered in plastic for as much money as one would pay they should have cloth table covers. And they had no common areas. The apartments had just a dorm size fridge that was really low for an elderly person would have a hard time using I think.
