I would tell others that the community is terrible with communication. I've had ups and downs since moving my loved one in. The Wellness Director and Activities Director has left the community, and they haven't let any of the families know about this change. I feel that they are still strict on their COVID protocols. I have to push them and follow up via email to get things done that were promised to me during the sign up process.

Very unorganized and poor communication with family members. Some of their issues could be due to COVID, but the most are more fundamental and reach deeper. Management is arrogant and sometimes condescending.

We have recently moved a family member in to Brickmont Woodstock. Very nice place , reasonable prices. Food is excellent. Caregivers seemed friendly and caring. Med techs know their stuff - very proficent Only negative has been , our family member needs help with toilet, dressing etc - the response time to get a caregiver to them in some cases has been poor or non existent. I have had to phone the facility to have someone go to my family members room, because pushing the pendant does not seem to get anyone's attention. I have personally experienced the issue. Brickmont is great for someone needing a little help but not for someone needing alot of care. I would consider it for myself,

I enjoyed my tour and found the staffers to be pleasant and engaging. I liked that this property offered assisted living and memory care, but I was less comfortable with this facility's use of contact nurses. Since my mother has some dementia, I'm concerned that she would not have the opportunity to get to know the nurses and/or support staff.

Needs to upkeep the landscaping better, keep the fountain with running water. Clean the outside of the building better.

Not really impressed. Their marketing packet is a disaster. No prices. Everything I asked about was not in packet. They said they are not equpped to handle someone that needs assistance with a feeding tube. Didnt have a good vibe when I went.

1/25/15 - Met with Amy Leake to tour the facility. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The facility was clean. I found the square footage of the 1 BR apartments to be very to be small in comparison to other facilities I have toured. Adequate overall.

TO BEGIN WITH THE NEW ACTIVITY PERSON DOES NOT DO MUCH CRAFTS WITH THESE PEOPLE..... SHE DOES THINGS THAT THE PEOPLE THAT ARE THERE DOES NOT WANT TO DO BECAUSE IIS NOT FUN FOR THEM... GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO DO WITH THEIR HANDS ..... INTERESTING TO KEEP THEM ENJOYING THE PROJECTS..... THE OTHER LADY THAT WAS THERE DID NOT DO MUCH EITHER BUT SHE DID DO MORE ON A WEEKLY BASES THAN THIS NEW ONE DOES FOR SURE ....... MY NIECE FINDS MORE TO DO WITH THESE LADIES THAN THE ACTUAL PERSON HIRED FOR THE JOB. THEY SAY THEY GIVE SNACKS DAILY...... OH REALLY ORANGES THAT YOU NEED A KNIFE TO CUT THESE THINGS AND THESE PEOPLE SOME ARE NOT ABLE TO CUT ORANGES...... I HAVE BEEN GOING THERE FOR ALMOST 8 MONTHS AND I SEE THINGS EACH TIME I GO THAT REALLY MAKE ME UPSET...... I BRING SNACKS AFTER TIME I GO THAT THEY CAN EAT WITH THEIR FINGERS... I SERVE IT IN A PLASTIC CUP AND HAND THEM OUT TO EVER WANTS IT....... I BRING SOMETHING DIFFERENT WEEK ...... THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE SERVED A SNACK EVERY AFTERNOON ABOUT 3ISH NOT ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK ... THE HOME SHOULD SE TO IT THESE SNACKS ARE PAST OUT TO THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE THERE.... NOW COME ON WHAT TROUBLE CAN THAT BE ...... SOME LOVE CHEESE NIP CRACKERS, GRAPES, PEANUT BUTTER CANDY, AND CINNAMON CEREAL ANY KIND THEY CAN EAT WITH THEIR FINGER .. I GET THE SQUARE WHEAT CEREAL ....... THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE PAST OUT DAILY. NOT ANY DAM ORANGES SITTING IN A COVERED DISH THAT THEY NEED TO GO LOOK FOR A KNIFE TO CUT IT .... THEY CAN'T PEEL THESE ORANGES WITH THE FINGERS..... THAN SOMETIMES THEY SERVE SLICES OF CAKES OR CUPCAKES THAT ARE ALWAYS STALE ....... THAT IS SOME SAD FOR ALL THE MONEY THESE PEOPLE PAY TO LIVE THERE AND THEY CAN'T GIVE OUT SNACKS.... AND THE OTHER DAY AS I WAS COMING UP THE HALL THERE WAS A [removed] EMPLOYEE COMING OUT THE LUNCH AREA DOORS HOLDING A DISH OF SWEETS ... SHE TOOK THEM HOME WITH HER AND THERE WAS ANOTHER LADY WITH HER GETTING OFF OF WORK ... THESE SNACKS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE GIVEN OUT TO WORKERS TO BRING HOME ! REALLY WORKERS GET TO HAVE SNACKS BUT NOT THE PEOPLE WHO LIFE THERE....... THAN THEY HAVE ALL THESE PEOPLE THAT ARE FALLING AND IT TAKES A GOOD WHILE FOR HELP TO GET TO THEM EVEN WHEN THEY PUSH THE BUTTON ...... SAD SAD SAD

Communication is terrible & the sales person, [name removed] made a lot of promises that turned out to be BS. The staff is a little rude to the residents in memory care & the wellness director, [name removed] is extremely difficult to communicate concerns to. And the food is horrible, according to my parents.

While it was the least expensive in the category of places that were not rundown and really bad :-) it was not a good experience. The food was awful, the care was decent, but certainly not exceptional when you're paying thousands of dollars a month. And we're still waiting almost 2 months later For a reimbursement for a month that was debited after we left. We have chosen a new place for her, which we are hopeful about.

Brickmont of Acworth could be such a wonderful place if they paid closer attention to who they hire and how their leadership treats the staff. The caregivers in this community are some of the most caring and loyal people I’ve ever met they truly love their residents. The problem is the head nurse. She’s intimidating, disrespectful, and makes employees feel small and afraid to speak up. That kind of energy doesn’t belong in a place meant to care for others. The good news is that memory care has come a long way. The new Activity Director is doing an amazing job bringing life, joy, and structure back into the building. The residents are more active, more engaged, and you can feel the difference the moment you walk in. With better leadership and continued focus on resident care, this facility could easily become one of the best in the area.

The layout of the room and the size was one of the better ones we looked at. The common areas generally looked clean and the front desk ladies were great. That was about the only positive. Her floors were so sticky and gross my shoes stuck to most of the time. Don't think they ever cleaned them. On multiple occasions I had to clean the commode because it was dirty and unsanitary. The head nurse was one of the rudest awful people I have ever met. They refuse to provide you information when asked. They do not encourage you to come and eat with your loved ones. In fact they make it a real pain have to make a reservation for a private room 2-3 days in advance and you don't always hear back if you are approved to come. Then they stick you in a conference room to eat by yourself and you can't socialize and meet your loved ones friends and neighbors. Laundry was not done consistently. After being out in hospice, I was called and she had fallen out of bed and they left her laying in the floor in nothing but a diaper for over 30 minutes until I could get there and lift her and put her back in bed myself. How awful. ?? they were just awful in general.

What I was told last April when looking for assisted for my family member by the "then" staff @ Brickmont was mostly lies. The next month they were acquired by another massive senior care organization. Arranging transport to and from Dr appt within the 10 mile radius is difficult bc they are far out of Marietta. Plus it's basically 1-2 people who can actually arrange transport ONE day a week (never any other day). Considering the size of the facility this is ridiculous. My family member is in overall decent health and can administer the required medications needed, can get to and from the apt to dinner. Yet when she did need assistance after a minor OP procedure, it was horrible. 45 min response time on the "emergency" pull cord. This continues to be an issue. No snack bar, no fruit unless you beg. Weird cooking bc the kitchen staff is not english speaking. Who makes chicken noodle soup with a tomato base? Although a beautiful, newish facility to the eye, the staff shortages and lack of quality of care is seriously lacking. I am looking to move my family person out and closer to civilization and civility.

Quality of care was terrible. They left mom in wet diapers. They did not care if she refused to eat. Did not reimburse amount owed when mom died 17 days into stay. Looks clean from outside but that is where the positives end.

For quality of care - they do not make sure she gets her showers so I have to do it when we want to take her out. Even after several meetings with the director. For meals/dining, their state number was a 67. After a reeval it only went up to an 87. For activities, they are pretty good but they are not great about reminding the residents to go, I have to call her.

We are very disappointed with Brickmont, the quality of service, food, and activities for residents. Transportation to appointments was promised with enough advanced notice, nursing staff continued mistakes with medication (very dangerous). All i can say is the facility is pretty.

I am still processing the various misinformation from my preliminary visit and conversations compared with how my family member is being treated after moving in. My life is actually more difficult as I am dealing with the reality of how little is true. Brickmont actually taking someone to a Dr appt is nearly impossible to set up. West Cobb is the far end of the universe so getting all new Dr’s within the 10 mile radius is very difficult, Food is an issue. I have experienced the food over the past few months. It was not very appetizing. There is no snack bar. Recently major malfunctions resulted in everyones doors being unlocked for days. There was no welcoming. It took over three weeks for the cable to actually be turned on. This blame game is irritating. No good dissemination of information for newcomers. The actual staff on the floors are very nice. The front desk, not so much. Hoping the new management will improve the current situation

The assessment they give to residents prior to accepting them at Brickmont is only 15 minutes. Staff is not qualified or trained to care for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients The ratio between staff is 7 to 35 and only 1 staff member at night. There was no guidelines or procedures for the family once the resident goes into memory care or what happens next or what to expect. Just drop off - My sister-in- law was sent after 2 or 3 days there. She spent 2 weeks in the hospital and then they sent her back to Brickmont. The next morning beck to the hospital. Yes she did hit someone both times. Then back to the hospital and the hospital sent her to Ridgeview psychiatric hospital - two weeks there she stopped eating so they sent her to the hospital and after 4 days she was sent to a hospice care facility and she died 13 days later. Someone miss this in the very first assessment. They paid for 2 months and she only slept there 3 or 4 nights at Brickmont. The just wanted to fill the bed
