A Great Community, My Father Is Doing Well Here

Everything is working out very well for my father here at this community. The community is very well maintained. When I visit his room and the facility is nice and clean. They have a wonderful staff, they are very helpful and attentive. They have plenty activities for the residents to choose. The meals are all made from scratch, so the food is very good. You really get a good feeling at this community. I would highly recommend this community.

Happy after one month

I am basing this review on only one month of my mother being a resident at Five Star of Yonkers. Any family going through this process will understand what an agonizing decision it was to move my very resistant 90-year old mother out of her house of 50 years. While it continues to be a challenging transition for her, I feel that we made the best choice for her by moving her to Five Star. It is a lovely, well-maintained facility. My mother is in an independent apartment so I cannot really speak about the assisted living services or accommodations. She has a modern, comfortable one bedroom apartment with "million dollar views" of the Hudson River! Weekly light housekeeping is provided. While she has a full kitchen in her apt., a buffet breakfast and a three-course dinner are included everyday. Unlike the institutional-like dining room and food in many other assisted living facilities, the dining room at Five Star is attractive, the menu has a nice variety and the food is of good quality. There is a diverse offering of activities each day, in addition to trips to museums, stores, local performances, Yonkers casino, etc. We particularly enjoy the Thursday afternoon "Happy Hour" with an open bar, tasty appetizers and live music. The staff for the most part have been cheerful and helpful. I would like to give a shout out to the patient and attentive Monica and her dining room staff and the delightful Move-in Coordinator Agustina who did all she could to help ease the transition. In terms of value for the money, there was no comparison between Five Star and the other places we considered in Westchester and Rockland Counties. We were able to get a "promotional" rent rate as they are renovating and updating the facility. I don't know if this is still available but even the regular rents are reasonable compared to the astronomical rents at most Westchester senior living facilities (shame on those places that expect the elderly to pay rents of $7000 a month and up!) I know everyone's situation is unique - none are easy - but I hope this review will be helpful to some.

Review of Harbor Chase of Shorewood - Shorewood, WI

I toured Harbor Chase in Shorewood when looking for an assisted living center for my mom. the director and admissions staff were professional and welcoming. They handled the move-in very well. The facility is new, uplifting and very organized. Rose, the RN, is very welcoming and coordinates medical needs well. The community is still growing, yet activities, meals, and staff are well-trained and always friendly. The apartments are beautiful and the Shorewood location makes access to activities and doctors great.

Little Bumpy At First

It was a little bit bumpy at first but things have smoothed over since then. We are very pleased with the services and the community, everybody has been good. The community is very nice looking and very well maintained. The staff I would say 90 % of them is really good and the others not so much. The food is good, but the service is a little slow. I really feel they are taking good care of my mother-in-law here and I would recommend it.

A caring residential experience for a dear friend

My relationship with Harbor Chase of Plainfield began in November 2015 when a family friend became a resident in the Memory Care facility. Since then I have been a regular visitor 3 to 4 days a week, which has given me a fairly objective mosaic of the Harbor Chase experience from an outsider’s perspective. Having visited a few short and long-term senior facilities in recent years, none compare to harbor Chase in terms of the atmosphere cultivated for the residents. The physical community reflects a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing setting throughout, from the entry-way and corridors to the resident rooms. Music welcomes you to the center and continues in the dining room during meals. Meals are plentiful, with a variety of (healthy) options offered to residents. Special requests due to dietary restrictions (habits) are always honored. Aside from the ambiance and amenities, I am most impressed with the bedside manner of the staff. From the directors to the medical staff to the caregivers to the custodians, all show genuine affection towards the residents. Caring for those who can no longer care for themselves can be an arduous task. Yet, the doting manner of the staff is what you normally only see with a family member. Equally impressive is the manner in which the staff has extended themselves to me as a visitor. Each visit I am cordially greeted by everyone I encounter from check in to check out. With my visits frequently taking place during lunchtime, I am always offered a beverage or something to eat. In short, I am comforted to know that my dear friend is in a wonderful place surrounded by staff that genuinely care about him and treat him like family. Consistent with its logo, Harbor Chase embodies respect for individual’s self-worth and responsible stewardship on every level.

I was very impressed with it.

I did go to Comforts of Home in Hudson for a tour and I was very impressed with it. I liked the layout, the apartments are very nice. My Aunt does live there already, and the Lobby is nice. I didn't get a chance to eat in their dining room, but would really like to. Staff is great and the location was in a wooded area and it just seemed inviting.

We were very lucky.

The parents had wanted to stay in their home until...something happened. Then we had to scramble. The folks at the Solana have made the transition (if you can call it that) as easy as we could have imagined. Senior staff is committed to meeting our needs. Without exception, the people who work there have been pleasant and engaged. We have seen very little incompetence or failure to follow up once the right people knew what we wanted. (The [removed] follow up to be sure.)

It was very nice and probably a little more upscale even, than the place we chose. We chose the other place really based upon the location because it's so convenient to where we live. This would be a 30 minute drive to Germantown. What the Solana does offer that's different is they don't offer a full meal plan. It's a little more expensive per month but they only offers you 1 meals per day or something. I can't remember exactly but I know it was not all 3 meals a day. You can purchase more meals if you want. They have a couple of different wings for whatever type of care is needed - independent, assisted, and dementia care.

Smooth transition

Moving my mother from another state has proven to be a smooth transition. From our first visit to Washington Township Senior Living my mother was happy. I had not seen her smile for months. Once she realized my choice for her was 5 minutes away from our home she was completely on board. The staff is attentive, there are plenty of activities and the management team is responsive to our requests. I have made a good choice for my mothers' care at this time of her life.

Accommodating staff

CIEL has been nice. My day is adjusting as well as my mom. We have been there for about two months and things are settling nicely. They are very welcoming and work with the families and help to ensure comfort. I'd say a welcoming packet or the handbook right away would be helpful. It took us a bit to get that.

Very nice apartment

Medication management should improve, they hired a new nurse. There's a nice view with a balcony and it's relatively quiet. Main Positive is: apartment with a nice view including balcony. Main Negative was: not unusual for specific medications to be missing, or incorrect dosage, when distributed mornings and evenings
