Chelsea Senior Living

We like that The Chelsea at Brookhaven community is not big and not over crowded. Everyone has been really friendly so far and our loved one is very happy there.

In February of 2021, The Residences opened their doors and I helped move my Mom from a garden apartment into her new 2 bdrm unit. The last year with Covid was extremely stressful and isolating for her, but an overwhelming sense of calm came over our whole family with this move. We encountered genuine compassion from The Residence's staff and any issues that come up were quickly worked out. Mom gets to spend her time interacting with other residents at meals, movies, Bingo or just sitting in one of the common spaces with her sewing or a book. My sisters and I were very apprehensive to move Mom anywhere, but after seeing the oversight and real love from all of the staff, I'm now sure we made the right choice. A specific "shout out" to [name removed] the Executive Director. She's always "hands on", and aside from "running the operation", she's not above jumping in to help with food service or apartment maintenance if it solves a problem or relieves an anxiety. It has been really tough this year with covid but so far everything has been going good. When we do go see our loved we do bring him things and they get it to him right away and they are taking good care of him.

The Chelsea at Brookhaven is a new community so they are keeping it very clean. All the staff members we have dealt with so fair have been great, and we do think we are getting a good value.

The team at Atria New City are truly wonderful. Some of the most knowledgeable and compassionate people I have met. They helped guide my mother in making the tough decision in making the move to to the community. The building is absolutely gorgeous. I have no qualms moving my mother here when they officially open.

We picked Somerset Gardens because of the care they were able to provide medically for my dad. The location was also nice, only 5 minutes from where I live. The overall staff was amazing, but the day before he passed away, the weekend staff during hospice were horrible, they were understaffed and didn't take care of the patients. He didn't participate in activities, but I remember they had an activity calendar in the hallway with a variety of different things to do. I would recommend this community.

The Chelsea at Brookhaven still has some construction going on so it's a little messy in certain areas. Still have a lot of plans and sign up about coming build outs. My dad was only there for three weeks before he passed so I don’t have much to go on but it was a nice place with great potential when the building is completed.

At Somerset Gardens they really are caring for the individuals. My dad has a large studio which is a good size for him, it has worked out well since he is spending so much time in his unit with the quarantine. They have really been proactive during this Pandemic keeping residents safe and happy. They are keeping families updated with daily emails.

MaplePoint is great and caring facility. Residents are treated very well and lots of activities going on all the time. This place is wonderful.

We toured this community and I wanted to have my mom see this community for her care. The staff was nice and they had a clean community for the residents. I like the variety of good meals that would be offered. The activities would have been helpful for my mom. They did not have a place for smoking and my mom. We would suggest a tour for other families to this beautiful community with a nice value

From start to finish, the place always felt welcoming. It really felt like home. They were understanding and I knew just from walking in the first time that this was the place for my loved one. It has been a perfect experience, everything has worked out exactly as I had planned it too.

I am extremely happy at Somerset Gardens. It's home to me. There is plenty to do here if you choose to. Thing only thing I would say is about the food. When you are cooking for over 100 people you cant please everyone. It's not gourmet french food here. I'm perfectly fine though. Things are going really well and I hope they continue to.

Very nice, it used to be the Howard Johnson. Large lobby and flows like a hotel. 2 dining rooms, large rooms with a porch. REasonable price for what you get, a la carte for additional needs. A movie theater which is very nice, adequate outdoor patio. LeeAnn was great, upbeat, had good feedback and a sense of reality working with seniors. Offers a nicely paced lunch visit for mom and dad. Will visit with them in Nov.

My brother is staying at Somerset Gardens and he is doing very well there. They have a lot of good activities that keep him involved. He gets three good meals a day. He is 63 years old and is bipolar but can function pretty well. It is a very good place for him.

My 92-year-old beloved Dad passed away in the memory/hospice care unit of Somerset Gardens. He resided there for almost a year. My siblings and I feel exceedingly lucky that we found this facility, as the care my Dad received was impeccable; every staff member we interacted with, no matter what their duties were, treated us and my Dad with kindness, respect, dignity, and much-needed information as to what to expect as death drew near. The facility was extremely clean, my Dad's room was always spotless, and his aide, Clyde, attended to his hygiene, mental and physical needs with the greatest compassion and concern. I cannot praise Somerset Gardens enough for the peace of mind they provided my family to ensure that my Dad was in a safe, nurturing and loving environment. Thank you to every member of the staff. You should all be proud of the very important service you provide so well. Thank you from all of us on behalf of Edward.

My husband was in the Tuttle Center for over 2 months. We would rate all of the employees-nurses-social worker-PT and OT - right down to the food service employees as the very best. My husband loved staying there as well as all the employees. Everyone was very kind and did their very best to help. Even after leaving, I was able to call and speak with the social worker, Renee, who continued to be of great help.

The experience with Somerset Gardens was a very positive one. The main lady there we worked with was a real delight, very helpful in every way. The food was very good. They made some excellent entrees. I would certainly recommend them.

When my husband and I first came to live at the Amsterdam at Harborside we immediately became involved in many of the activities offered to residents in Independent Living. Through our experiences at committee meetings, the bridge table, exercise classes and especially our nightly dinners we met and enjoyed the company of our fellow residents. We had no idea how important that would become when, several years later, my husband's health suffered a decline and he became a resident of the Tuttle Center's skilled nursing unit. It was more than the obvious financial advantage, since our monthly maintenance payments did not rise even though I stayed in our apartment and he resided in the health center. It was also more than the fact that by our living in the same building I could visit my husband easily at any hour of the day or night. It was mostly that neither of us felt alone. Frien ds from Independent Living dropped in to say hello to him regularly. Activities and mealtimes in the Tuttle Center's cheerful dining room enabled him to interact with his fellow patients. I, on the other hand, never lacked for someone to eat dinner with or to accompany me to some entertainment or activity. Living here at the Amsterdam was a very different experience from having a spouse in a nursing home in another location. When my husband eventually passed away the support and caring I received from the Tuttle staff and all our friends was quite overwhelming. My children and I will be forever grateful

I am a resident of The Amsterdam at Harborside which is an independent living retirement community with continuing care available when needed at no extra cost. The amenities and activities at the Amsterdam are terrific, but the residents are the best part of it. It really is like one big family. Oh yes, the dining room serves great meals with plenty of options and the service is very good. On top of that, I spent some time as a recovering patient at the Tuttle Center, the attached continuing care facility, and I and can easily say that it is a great facility. It offers skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care and hospice. The complex, like the Amsterdam itself, is only a few years old, which is a big plus, but more importantly the staff was very caring. One of the benefits for my wife and I is the use of the Tuttle throughout our lifetime at no extra cost. It was very reassuring to see the quality of care that is available to us. On top of that, since the Tuttle is attached to The Amsterdam, my wife could easily visit me at any time and so could other friends that we have made here. What a caring, wonderful place at a very difficult and sad time. My mom's final days were spent there and they made sure that she was comfortable and without pain. They also cared about our needs and were there to comfort, listen and guide. There were members of the clergy of every possible faith and denomination and were always available for the needs of our loved one and ourselves. We continue to receive support as we go through the grieving process. "Thank you" does not sufficiently express how grateful we are for all that they have done and continue to do. The room was private and spotless and someone was always near if we or our loved one needed something. They are the best!
