A Good Place To Live If You're Loved One Is Younger

If you're loved one can't do a lot of walking, then this is not a good community for them. There is some distance between the rooms and common areas. The Home Health Aides were very helpful and nice. I feel that there wasn't enough of them, especially overnight. Excellent food service and activities for the residents.

Run away

When we first looked at Somserset Gardens it looked great, but I went everyday after work and on the weekends because they were understaffed. When I would go visit she would just be sitting in a chair not doing anything. She ended up getting up and falling and cracking her head open. They had some cases of COVID and residents were locked in their room and had to be sedated, so she was not getting fed enough. At night when they get them ready for bed, they don't really wash them. They take a wet towel and wipe their bottom half and that is it, no soap or anything. We did not have a good experience with Somerset Gardens.

They had just redone everything in the community and put down new hardwood floors that look very nice. The staff is all warm and friendly and my mother-in-law likes it there. They offer a lot in the way of activities, although she doesn't often participate. The food is excellent as well.

A friendly place

The staff that I have spoken to are absolutely wonderful. The administration is also wonderful. They are very responsive. The executive director sends out a daily email with updates and notices. The communication and the staff are great and go above and beyond. We looked at other places and we were waiting for a sister community to open, so, my dad moved in here while waiting for it to be built. After living here for six months, he decided to stay and not move to the new building. My dad isn't happy with the food on most days, but I think they are doing a fine job.

I liked the place a lot. [Name removed] was very helpful. I think my mother could be comfortable there. Drawbacks: Distance from apartments from dining areas. My mother would need a wheelchair to get around, which she does not currently use. Also, while the basic monthly cost of the facility is within our budget, when you add on the cost of extra levels of care it just about doubles the price.

Great Staff!!

My mother has recently made the move into this community and so far things are going well for her. The staff have been on top of things and have made sure to keep in communication about her needs and progress. They have welcomed her with open arms and I am comfortable with the care she is being provided with. Overall things have been going well and I would recommend it to anyone interested.

I understand that the rehab that is offered here is not as aggressive as other places offer but they could put a better effort. My mothers stay here was not pleasant. She would have constant urinary tract infections once she would come off the medicine she would get another one. The staff was friendly enough and the rehab was clean and maintained. But from seeing my mother who had made such improvement while she was at another rehab center then coming here and her decline so much just greatly overwhelmed me.

My tour of this community was very nice. The lady that gave me the tour was very kind, and friendly. She showed me all around the community, and answered all my questions. The community looked nice, and well-kept. My issue was the room they had available at the moment. It was smaller than my aunt would had like. They have great rates, but I knew that room would not work for my aunt, but my tour went very well overall.

A nice place!!

The staff at Somerset Gardens seems nice and I have not heard any complaints from my mom since moving in. She has been there just over a month so she is settling in well. She does participate in some of the activities and they bus her to church on Sunday. While I have not been able to try the food my mom seems to like it. They do not offer free WiFi or television but I would recommend this community.

This would be a great option for my Dad (if I didnt need to also place my brother). There doesnt appear to be as much socialization for him as at The Regency but this property is safe secure clean and would offer my Dad great care. He would need to purchase rent his own furniture for a unit though whereas the Regency comes furnished.

To me it's a lot of money, but compared to other places it's not a lot of money.

To me it's a lot of money, but compared to other places it's not a lot of money. Most services are included. They seemed to have a little more activities than they actually did, they have a movie every day and bingo every day but nothing after dinner that's organized. They have a card game going on but one of the members is the dealer and if he isn't there then nothing happens and it could be a little more organized. My mothers doing more than she did at her old community. Things were going on there and there was more life to this community than others. They could work on getting the people more involved in what there is to do. They could have some more challenging activities. They were cat friendly. It was more cozy than others people were sitting around talking. Dad hates the food but mom doesn't mind it. They have a lot of choices.
