Looking for a place for my mom, this was the second place we visited. Pros: lots of interesting activities, outdoor spaces, transport to mom's private doc, squarely in our budget. Cons: dirty. I couldnt believe how dirty. Poorly maintained. Reminded me of a cheap roadside hotel with chipping paint, dirty light fixtures, etc. The staff showing us around didn't seem genuine, like we were being "sold." With a little elbow grease and paint this place wouldnt be so bad.

They put on a show and don't follow through

With the level of care my mother needed, they were not there when the button was pushed, it took them a long time to get there, my mother felt that they weren't helping her at all but they really put on a show when I was there. Some of the people were nice, others were just going through the motions of doing their job. It was very, very basic and they always were nice when I talked to them but they didn't follow through with the things they said they would do. We left because 1. My mother wasn't happy there because she was very, very upset with the way they were treating her, they didn't do for her what she wanted them to do and 2. She worked really hard to go back home so that's what we did. The people from the outside were better than the ones on the inside, they put on a very good show and that's what happened, I did it quickly and I don't know if the other ones I looked at would have been better.

NO PLACE FOR MOM

This assisted living center keeps showing up [on the internet] as a memory care facility, it IS NOT. The building is not secure so as a person with dementia gets worse , starts to wonder or becomes aggressive they are not equipped to handle it. Don't waste your time and money placing any family member with dementia in this facility.

When looking for a care facility for my mom, I included Winnwood in my search. The facility is beautiful and the grounds are well maintained. My concern Winnwood is that we put $1,500 deposit down but my mom was unable to move in. Half of the money was refunded, and I was informed that the rest would remain with the company. We did not fill out a formal application, we simply made a good faith deposit in hopes of securing the room. Very unfortunate situation for my 80 year old mom.

Do Not Send Your Loved Ones to Citidel

Citidel used to be as wonderful an experience as a senior with mental and physical challenges could expect. My dad has been there a couple of years now. When we came, there was a manager named [name removed] who was excellent and very caring. Since then, management has changed and the staff is significantly reduced. There are seniors walking in and out of random rooms, falling because there is limited help to ensure their safety and my dad has even worsened due to the staff not ensuring that he remembers to drink his water regularly. The workers there have quite a bit to maintain. It is really a challenge to manage a group of seniors who are used to managing their own affairs, but now are forced to rely on the help of others to do simple things like remember to eat or drink. There is added stress on the staff and the resident when there isn't enough help to assist in keeping the seniors safe. My dad is in hospice care now. There have been times when I have come and discovered him in his bed with the lights off, and has not been up all day or has at least eaten because of lack of employees. He has fallen and no one can provide an explanation as to why, when he is supposed to have 24 hour care, except on Sundays. This place has gone from a 4.5 star to a 1.5 star. Don't send your loved ones here.

Lacking in overall associations with residents.

Cleanliness of rooms very poor. Staff playing on phones, verses conversation with residents was noted in more than one case and of more than one staff member. Observed office staff demeaning staff member in front of other staff members. Excellent activities for residents. We spoke to some residents about food. Quality of food was over all good.

Other options for loved ones.

I was not happy with the care here. They did not have a alarm for my mom for her to get some help. They did not have a bed alarm for here when she needed help. They did not do alot to stimulate people. Since my mother came out of the community the staff has been calling to see how she is doing. My mom had fallen and I was not called right away. They did not have good communication skills with each of the staff members. My mom needed skill living. I would not recommend this community to others for care for a loved one.

memory and mom

Mom was a resident of the cottages until recently. The place is clean and the grounds well cared for and attractive. What is of great concern is the administration changing four times in a year. You never knew who was in charge. Each one had their own way of following the guidelines. The help inadequate and changed so often there was no consistency. The few we could get to know were caring individuals but others changed every time we visited. We were told that if mom needed more help they would move her to a cottage with more care. That is not true. They asked her to leave as she needed more care. Of course, they kept her initial one time only fee of $2,500.00 entry fee.

Mom fell and was not found until over 24 hrs later.

My Mom was here for about 3 years. We were told if she did not show up for lunch, they would check on her. She fell one morning in the bathroom after taking a shower and did not show up for lunch, dinner, anld nobody checked on her. The maid found her on the bathroom floor after noon the next day. She had laid on the floor for over 24 hrs. She did not go back there after her hospital stay. We were told a lie. Some of the ladies went to the office and told them she did not show up for lunch or dinner. No excuses!

Very Disappointed!

We were impressed with everything. We thought we found the perfect place for our mom. She was assessed by their staff. We were told she was level 1 and a good fit for Crimson Pointe. We moved her in only to be called 24 hours later. We were then told we had to pick her up as soon as possible. It was not possible for her to stay. They didn't even give Mom a chance to get acclimated to her new environment. We had to move Mom back home and we are starting over. We were told the refund will take 30-45 days. We are very disappointed. My caution is: their staff is incompetent to access patients. Get something in writing if they access your loved one.

Drab and dirty . I was not impressed with this facility at all. The location in Vinings is great, but it is need of a redo. Residents. I met just seemed sad. This ended up on the bottom of my list. They also were giving free rent on your 3rd and 4th month which was a red flag that the place was not on the top of anybody's list.

Things are not as they appear

[Removed] Dimmed lighting to dumb the residents down and make dirt harder to see. The staff have clever little things that they tell you that *seem* spontaneous but are actually carefully crafted phases and buzzwords, cute and phoney.<br />Like dog food, what you're buying is a product that's cleverly packaged and slickly advertised. Do you really love the person you're considering leaving at Somerford? If yes, then find a smaller establishment where a person will have some dignity.

Typical assisted living place. The people were very nice to me, and then the manager had her big question. Nothing else mattered as to what I, as a future client needed and that did not matter one iota. Neither did what I had to offer them. Only one thing- how much green paper do you have? I would sleep in my car before going there. Why isn't there a place that can and would help me?

Review for Charter Senior Living of Moline

Much of the care staff were very good. There were a few who didn't know how to approach my loved one so that was a problem. The executive director and the memory care manager were good to work with. The director of nursing was not good to work with. The kitchen put out some really great food. The cleaning and laundry staff were good too. The apartment my loved one had was in the basement and there was an elevator that had to be used. The elevator quit functioning safely and couldn't be used. The stairs had to be used but there was a code to get to them that they wouldn't give out to families. They did not have an activity director most of the 6 months that he was there. When we moved my loved one out they had a bed bug problem that we weren't told about. We found out from an employee at the new facility we moved him to because she was an agency employee at Charter. The building needed lots of repairs. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Another point is that they were short staffed on aides much of the time.

Do not place a loved one here

Terrible experience. The facility was without adequate air conditioning for an extended period, which was extremely concerning, especially for vulnerable residents. My loved one eventually had to be taken to the emergency room and has remained hospitalized since then. She was severely dehydrated and developed a bedsore during this time. Overall, this was an extremely upsetting experience for our family. I expected a safe environment with appropriate attention to basic comfort and care, and unfortunately, that was not our experience.

Review for Charter Senior Living of Jackson

It always smelled upon entering the facility, constantly lost my father's belongings, they will not accept any responsibility for any of their failures. They gave him a hot wheels car upon admission for his memory box. Only staff gave keys. It was gone. They became rude and hateful. It was the worst experience we could of had with our first assisted living.

Dont Recommend

Beautiful, clean facility and friendly staff, but after spending three days at Well Point with my 91-year-old father, I would not recommend it. My biggest concern is resident safety and the facility's apparent lack of support for aging in place. After leaving, I became increasingly concerned about my father's ability to continue living independently. I called multiple times and left messages for the Executive Director, [Name Removed], but never received a return call. That lack of communication was disappointing, especially given the seriousness of my concerns. The dining experience was also disappointing. The food was terrible and small portions. While the facility itself is attractive and the staff members I encountered were friendly, the lack of responsiveness, concerns about resident safety, limited support for changing care needs, and disappointing dining experience make it difficult for me to recommend Well Point to other families.

Charter Senior Living of Newport News

Had to submit paperwork several times. Sometimes takes a long time for the answering the call bells. Senior administrative staff says one thing, but staff working with the individual does something different.

I am not happy with them. They are not fast at returning questions and answering concerns. Leadership needs improvements and CNAs need help.

Expected Much More from a top rated home

My aunt was a type one diabetic and they asked her to leave after 2 months without refunding any portion of the community fee. I felt that was unfair as she had diabetes when she moved in and they were confident they could care for her.
