Our family had an in person tour and it was not going to be a good fit at all. It was hard to make an appointment and when we did have an appointment it seemed like us being there was a big inconvenience. They were trying to get out for the holiday week but they did not take time for us, and when we were there they did not seem prepared for anything. They did not ask us questions about our loved one. The community was very clean but it was much pricier, but it was so clean it felt like a hospital.

I would not recommend this community to others based on my experience.

My loved one was previously in a memory care assisted living facility that couldn't provide the care she needed. Cedarhurst was adamant they could take care of my loved one, that it wouldn't be a problem. They observed her via Facetime while she was in the hospital and based on that observation told me it wouldn't be an issue. I feel like I was sold down the river. It was fine at first, but then she had multiple falls and repeatedly ended up in the emergency room. The doctors were concerned about the extent of how "black and blue" she was. When I called Cedarhurst to say we wouldn't be back, they were just like "Okay, see you later." When my loved one was falling, there was no talk of a care plan to prevent further falls. They simply called to notify me, and that was it. I was hopeful - it was a beautiful facility. But I felt like the social worker was a salesman, not a social worker. Part of their sales pitch was a 60-day money back guarantee. My loved one was there less than that amount of time, and I couldn't get any response at all after contacting them to get my money back.

Right after my loved one moved in the head nurse quit and the executive director ended up getting COVID. I don't think they were a well equipped staff to run the community. The family liason, I believe they were inc harge of the community. I don't feel this person is there anymore. I spoke to the director after we left and after they returned. I think if the director had been there, it would have been run differently. We were able to have virtual visits, I couldn't see much. I wasn't able to visit in person. When my loved one first moved in they were allowing in person visits; however, this quickly changed due to the case count of COVID in the outside community.

Make sure to do your research when looking into this community. I do not feel my loved ones did receive the care for the amount of money spent. Communication was ok. There was an issue with privacy and we felt they too eager to come into the rooms without permission. I would not recommend this community to others.

I would want others to know my mom went here with a down coat and ski jacket and it was stolen from her. She had a pendant stolen. I had gotten her two nice cardigans and that was also stolen. Her sheets I bought her were also taken. When I was there a few weeks ago I noticed they had no sheets on her bed even though I had sent her with 4 sets. A lot of her clothing items are missing or are not hers. Her room smelled of urine and was not clean. I was left without water after the snowstorm and I drove to MO and I told them I was going to pick her up and take her to TX. The place we were going to stay was shut down so I told the facility my mom needed to stay. They told me that they had already rented out her room, so they moved my mom to a 1 bedroom apartment and I had to hire private care for $300 a night. I would not recommend them and am not pleased with our experience.

It is grossly understaffed. It was expensive, The value did not come close to meeting the services. The room sizes and layout was good. The food was not good, small portions and not a lot of variety. They just did not have enough staff to meet the residents' needs.

Assisted living & memory care residents mixed in 12 bed facility, so memory care residents have to be able to find their way to correct Fire exit during Fire drill with loud alarm and fire system lights, this facility would not work for a person who's Alzheimer's has progressed and often needs clues or re-directing to function in a home environment. No secure outside area for memory care residents whom are apt to wander.

The staff was friendly. We did not receive a folder with information, had to ask if I could keep a rate sheet. Was shown one room, very small. My sister would have to get her own transportation for doctor appointments, etc. additional expense. They have the level system of a care plan that means you could pay for a service on the level that is not needed.

Not a place for my mom. It looks more like a resort But cold. Rooms are very small, marketing personnel was very pushy interested in signing only, not mom's likes and needs. She was insistent on putting her in the top needs and bracket without a medical assessment Nope, totally turned me off when she suggested not to waste my time visiting other facilities.

Beautiful facility and great residents to work with. Unfortunately, they are looking for another executive director -this would be the fourth one I believe. And to top it off, turnover rate for all departments is very high for a new facility. Yes, this happens at a lot of facilities, but mind you, they just opened in March. There’s an issue when most of the nursing/clinical team had resigned in span of a few weeks. Residents and families are not blind to the lack of staff needs and they are not naive to what goes on and what is told to them by upper management. It all starts at the corporate level. When you don’t have owners who are experienced in healthcare who don’t know what goes on in their facilities and only care about how fast they can have people move in, then you will see how much they don’t care about the staff who are taking care of the residents. The ratio to staff to resident is unrealistic. The acuity at Cedarhurst Naperville/woodridge is very high, just like one of a skilled facility. If corporate cared about the well being of the residents and staff, then the turnover rate for staff would not be high.

This place was nice and felt like home but in the last couple of years it has changed. The management is very cold and non-caring and the head nurse wont listen to anything she feels is a waste of her time. They will not work with you and its a my way or the highway attitude. I would not recommend this place anymore to anyone.

Too gray and dark, not welcoming. The Community contact was pleasant and shared much info but I could not get interested.

Leaves much to be desired not cleaned enough carpets etc.

Understaffed and undercleaned

My uncle lives here and I visit often. It is more female based ( hair salon, decor and female staff). There are issues with food service and it needs to improve (especially dinner). The hallways are too narrow and they mix assisted and independent living. Not a good idea! Also residents smoke outside ( usually in your way when you are trying to leave. I do not recommend The Waterford for independent living men.

Received literature, spoke to representative who was very friendly, helpful. Visited there and all of us thought it was just too small, rooms too small, not a good fit. Very clean and nice staff though.

The activities are a joke there, they really need a good activity director. My mother is in the very back and they never do any activities with her or the other ones back there, it is very depressing. I feel like management doesn't care. I never see the Director of Nursing, and the few times I have she never speaks, or smiles. She just sticks her nose up in the air. I think there is never enough staff, and many times I see the CNA's pushed to their limit. Saying something goes in one ear and out the other. I have talked to other family members and they say the the same thing. We don't say much due to the fact we are afraid our loved ones would be miss treated. The nurses are hands off and I feel like they don't want to do anything except pass meds. There is one nurse on the evening who is very cruel with her words and has no professional skills at all. [removed]. This place isn't the same since new management came on board. I can say though there are a few really good, caring, compassionate CNA's. There are 2 who I know are good with my mother, and there are a few not so good CNA's. I figured you find that every where you go. This place really would be great if they got a new director of nursing. The only other thing I can say is that the food is awful most of the time. They serve really cheap food, and not so impressed wih the one over the kitchen, she can be very rude. Very unprofessional.

I am very disappointed overall, some things have improved, but the beginning was horrible. It's brand new so it's very clean. The staff isn't allowed to communicate with family, only management is allowed to communicate with the family. It seems like I hear something different depending on who I talk to. It was brand new and stunningly beautiful and everyone was smiling, when we first toured. The building sells itself. There is more to good care than just a beautiful facility. I don't have the peace of mind I would like.

Did not like the facility or the rooms. Saw maintenance needs throughout.
