I had a lot of issues with lost clothing and valuables since things weren't initially marked like I was told. I was a frequent visitor to the laundry hunting clothes. I believe they were having administrative problems, but I'm not sure. You need to advocate frequently and not stop if your family member requires additional care or needs things. However, that being said, some of the staff were genuinely caring people. The woman who ultimately oversaw the floor he was on was helpful and concerned when I spoke with her about issues. My husband became difficult to take care of as his dementia became worse. Ultimately he fell, was on the floor for an undetermined period of time that he developed Rhabdomyolysis (found out he had Covid), went to the hospital and then rehab. Initially telling me he could come back as a hospice patient, they would not take him back. I did feel after 6 months of him living there they could have reached out and been more caring about everything that happened. But I felt a "coldness" , uncaring attitude from administration. That's how I felt, and still feel having gone through this experience. But let me add, the food was well prepared (but patients aren't fed), the housekeeping staff pleasant and helpful, the caregivers kind (although I did a lot of his personal care). He had his own room (on a locked unit for his safety), but realize dementia patients wonder into other rooms, personal items disappear for whatever reason. I can only speak to the unit he resided on. Overall, the building is clean and well maintained. People are pleasant and helpful.

I hear the complaints of experienced workers complaining how there is little or no training for the new people. [name removed] and I have experienced this to our annoyance, too. Sometimes, there is no common sense used by newer aides when dealing with patients. If there are rules and not being followed, there are no corrections being made that can be seen. Whenever I need to dry my hands after working with my husband , there are never any towels! Very little variety of food. No fresh fruit is provided for memory care. Med techs and aides are very helpful to [name removed] and very willing to help me in dealing with [name removed].

Recommend using a doctor that is able to take care of all medical needs and comes to the "home". Especially if staff is administering insulin or other special needs. Staff needs training on insulin administration. We had various life threatening issues due to staff's lack of understanding insulin and special needs.

Being an assisted living facility, it doesn't totally meet my mother's needs because of her dementia and higher need for medical care. But she cannot afford a memory care facility. Hospice is helping with what VP does not provide. If it wasn't for my mother's dementia and age and need for the extra medical and physical care, VP would get a 5 star rating across the board. It is truly a lovely place.

overall she receives good care from the aids and nurses. The food however is bad. It changed shortly after she went there and since then the menu often has a lot of items that she nor the other ladies she eats with even know what it is. When she does find something it is mostly served cold, dry. When she first went there I would have dinner with her. Since it changed I refuse to eat there and often take her food from outside. Its bad and she complains incessantly.

The staff seems friendly. Although my wife has Alzheimer's, she seems content there. Usually smiling when I visit, I credit the staff for that. No activities director for most of the time. The cost is crippling, but I guess it is par for the course.

The price is very competitive for comparable facilities in our area. And, overall, we are happy with the care our Mom is receiving. She's safe, getting the medical attention she needs, and is doing much better compared to her previous independent living situation.

Excellent care and very clean! More variety of food options, especially for dinner would be good. Sometimes the options are soup and sandwich which weren't filling enough.

Always difficult to get healthy meals for diabetics. Some equipment fails: one elevator was out for 2 weeks emergency generator has been out for months I love to sing but there are not enough other singers to sing 4 part harmony.

Our experience was much better when we switched doctors that would come into the facility. Also, when Mom began hospice care, it was a godsend. The hospice staff took care of a lot of the personal needs that she was not able to do herself. I feel the staff is better suited for a resident that has a lower need of assistance. Our mother had a high level need of assistance and the call bells were not answered in a timely manner. I must say, I feel most of the staff was very caring

I think on weekends they should have a couple activities. Due to staffing, it's not like it was 2 years ago. We picked this community because it was more of a cozy home feeling environment and close by.

The staff is really friendly to the residence- saw that even when they did not know they were being observed. They could improve on the food - that is the biggest complaint I hear from my parents is about the food.
