A short stay for comfort.

The care at this community is wonderful. The community is clean and nice. The menu is nice and she was pleased with the choices that were offered. They do have a nice list of activities that are offered. We would recommend this community for the excellent value. They do allow pets and that was something important for us.

No complaints here!

This facility is absolutely wonderful! The staff is incredible! The do much more than what is expected of them, and they are sure to cater to my mother's needs and requests. They even go out of their way to perform tasks such as doing her laundry for her! My mother is also very satisfied with the meals that are served. We made a great choice with choosing this facility!

Transitioning from Living Alone to Assisted Living

My mother was very sad to leave her apartment where she had lived for 17 years on her own; but at age 96, after a fall resulting in a broken hip, it was determined she could no longer live alone. That's when I contacted Pacifica. Having known of the facility for 15 years and of their consistent excellent reputation, I moved her in directly after her hospital rehabilitation stay. Mom is a retired nurse, so she is very critical of care, and I am happy to report that after 3 months of residing at Pacifica, she is singing their praises! Transition and adjustment is not easy for many seniors, but the staff at Pacifica seem to have just the right balance of caring and professionalism, which makes the residents feel "at home"; safe and secure. The facility is very clean and comfortable, with lots of activities for the residents to enjoy. The staff is very willing to discuss and address any concerns, and they are always readily available to do so. I live only a few minutes away and visit almost daily, so I am always witnessing the staff and operation in action. When I am not there with her I am never worried because I know she is in good hands. My mother is thriving, and I couldn't be more pleased!

When We Tried A Community

When my dad was here a few years ago, we saw signs of improvements. The care provided help. The meals were good and how the kept the community clean was good. All the staff were very helpful and nice. For the size of the community it went great and he left them not for being bad but to be home with his loved one instead.

First Rate Assisted Living

I don't know much about assisted living facilities... my sisters and I got lucky and we were recommended this one by a knowledgeable person for our mother. Our mom has been there two months and she really likes it. It is not just a very clean and friendly place. There are activities all week long. Mom has found a sense of community with her peers. Visits from her children, friends, and other relatives of course have helped her in this transition. She knows she has simply moved to a more supportive place for her physical limitations, but her connection to others has not changed. In fact due to her safer environment, it has improved! I just visited her last weekend. The staff are enthusiastic and supportive. The residents represent all types of people and all functioning levels. Quite a few are over a 100 years old. One guy who is over a hundred "winters" there then goes back to work as a construction manager back East. This facility is located in a very nice area. It is on the border of Beverly Hills and West LA and the cost is quite reasonable.

The staff at Bella Mar are like family. They are patient, cheerful and caring. The facility is quiet and peaceful. They have an amazing retractable roof over the courtyard so it can be used all year round. The residents get fresh air and have the joy of seeing the sky and trees from the courtyard. The residents eat in the dining room or in the courtyard. The rooms look out into the courtyard. Bella Mar is a loving and safe environment.

Great place for Grandma

After touring several different assisted living facilities in Vacaville, my grandma and I decided on Cornerstone Assisted Living Facility. 8 months later, we couldn't be happier with the choice. Cornerstone is a family owned business that truly cares about its residents. You can really tell the difference when you compare it to the corporate owned facilities. Alana, Shelley, and Jolene are fantastic people that will treat your loved one like one of their own. My grandma has dementia and had had some health complications during her time here. From top to bottom, the staff is always friendly, accommodating, and helpful. They are always looking out for her and making sure that she and her beloved dog have everything that they need. I feel good about where grandma lives. I would recommend Cornerstone to anyone looking for an assisted living facility for a family member.

They have been pretty good I think. Like earlier today I tried to call my mom and couldn't get a hold of her, so we called the front desk and they went looking for her, so they are just real helpful like that. They are really service-oriented.

My parents live at Orchard Park and have nothing but good things to say about their care. They love their apartment overlooking the courtyard, can always find something they like on the menu, and enjoy the new friends they have made. I am relieved that they can call for help at any time and someone is there quickly to take care of them.

good overall

They put my mother in to memory care last week. Most things are going well. I do feel like they could keep the area and her room a little cleaner. It is not bad, but every time I am in there I notice a little straightening up that needs to be done. That's not a complaint, just an observation and recommendation. Overall for the most part things have gone well.

History, Rustic Charm, Gentle Care and Kindness

This is a unique assisted living for those with memory care needs. It is a small, boutique-y community with rich history and rustic charm. The utilization of outdoor space can only be done in sunny, southern California. The weather is perfect, the residents get plenty of sunshine. We experienced sincere and kind engagement going on and the residents have some terrific talents and stories to share that will warm your heart. The accommodations and care are expensive but it's Santa Monica and your front room is practically the Pacific Ocean. I love that the residents do their own thing and are very content. Lots of activities, big screen TV on patio and entertainment. This is a must see. Small rooms but bright and cheery.

Nice facility for people who don't need full care

The facility is really nice. The people are very nice and friendly. My issue is that I feel like they are not qualified to take care of the people who need assisting. I had spent most of my 2 weeks trying to let them know that my mother needed full care. She had been there for a week before she got a bath. I ended up having to pay separately to get her ready in the morning and ready for bed. I think the facility is really great for people who are able to think and do things for themselves.

Grateful In Delaware - Family/Friend

A word of thanks for the great care given our parents that also benefited our family.

From start to finish, Pacifica Senior Living of Bakersfield was the right choice, not just for our parents, but also for the rest of our family. Our parents never intended on leaving the home they lived in for nearly 60 years, so when Dad admitted they needed help it was no small matter. After researching multiple options and considering what we felt was most needed for them: 1. A smaller facility that would give them the extra attention our parents needed--both medically and personally. 2. Offered good food, a varied menu and didn't have that "institutional" smell so many facilities have. 3. Had staff who enjoyed and appreciated older people as they encouraged them, to get out of their room by interacting with others as well as take advantage of the numerous outings that were available. 4. Would do what they could to keep our family "in the loop" when needs or problems arose, be it medical, social or physical. 5. That it would be a welcoming environment for visitors to come and go. Pacifica Senior Living provided all of that and much, much more. In fact, the biggest benefit we saw within the first couple of months was a great improvement in their physical health. Enjoying good, healthy meals and getting their medications on time and in the right dosage made a huge difference for them. Also, we saw vast improvement in how they interacted with others as well as with each other. What we realized later was that living on their own--increasingly isolated from the world around them--had resulted in them becoming almost combative in their interactions with other people as well as their family. The good environment and patience of the staff who served and worked with them, brought back the kinder, gentler side of our parents. That brought about healing in relationships, which I believe was the greatest gift to our family. Pacifica Senior Living of Bakersfield was definitely the best choice for our parents as well as for our family. I always enjoyed walking into the smell of good food being prepared in the kitchen or the clean sent of laundry being taken care of. We could not recommend it more highly.
