Very Nice Place

I don't think they are open just yet but I did tour during the open house week. WoW is all I can say. What an awesome place and who wouldn't want to live there. The details are unbelievable. I will definitely revisit to show my Mom.

Overall pleased

The facility is very clean and the meals are great! I do think staff need to make sure the residents who need help are clean and presentable.

Review for Brighton Comfort Care

Room was nice .They provided bed, dresser and nightstand. Community fee was waived. Personal was nice and friendly. Most of the personal are very nice and try to do their best but facility seems to be continually short handed. Showers are not given as scheduled, meals are cold.

Poor care and would not recommend

My mom was supposed to be on a salt free diet, the facility did not cater to hers or any client that has special dietary needs. Medications were dropped off which she seldom took unless someone was there to have her take it. Mom was admitted to an assisted living facility there was very little assistance given. In total her care was very poor considering the cost. I believe that she would have lived longer had the care been better. It was a very nice looking facility, but more for independent people.

Tour Experience

I also visited Hampton Manor, which is a smaller facility, in a good location. It's very nice, and the price was within our budget, and even at the lower end, but they don't allow motorized wheelchairs or scooters, and the other places do. My mother-in-law is pretty much wheelchair-bound, so that was important to her. Hampton Manor is also fairly new, and didn't have the licensing I was looking for. They are also less welcoming to visitors (at least in my opinion), They do have a pool, which may be important for some people.

Great Facility But Understaffed

Facility is great. Clean, open, minimal residents at this time. However, there is very little staff and you will have a hard time reaching anyone by phone to check in on our loved ones and will stand at the door for at least 10 minutes to be let in each time.

There seems to be a changing of the staff members and that concerns me some. Although the everyday staff that I have had contact with have been very friendly and helpful. Overall the experience has been pretty good for us.

I would highly suggest going elsewhere

I had an aunt that was put into the memory care unit here and she got horrible care. Most of the aides were really nice, but they just aren't trained well at all. My aunt was left locked into a chair for days on end. The building is very pretty, but you have to look past all of that stuff. Friendly staff and pretty buildings are still not OK when the care is poor. I would suggest going to a different facility and would probably steer people to residential facilities where the care is much better and the costs are lower.

Friendly Staff, Poor Care and a Horrible Executive Director

The staff was always nice, but my mom simply didn't get cared for the way I would have expected her to be. She was sent to the hospital 3 times in 3 weeks, left in a Geri-Chair for 24 hours and days at a time and supposedly given a skin assessment but had a pressure sore pad on her butt from the hospital 10 days after being taken in. BE AWARE, this facility has no licensed staff members (no RNs or LPNs) as it is considered a non-skilled facility. I brought up the care concerns to the Executive Director who got upset with my verbiage and told me he would talk to the staff. He called me a few days later and we got into a heated argument with him stating he would just throw my mother out without having to wait the 30 days. Sure enough, he did. The facility sent my mother to the hospital for a UTI and while i was with my mother in the ER they called stating they wouldn't allow her back in the facility.

Not what we hoped for

Most of the staff was friendly and helpful but they seemed to always be short staffed. Management was not very friendly at all. The food was almost always cold, not good choices for meals. They served a lot of chicken. No outside activities/outings. My dad thankfully has been able to move back home.

Wouldn't recommend

They are good at sales but they do not deliver what they sell without someone hounding them and constantly complaining. They also are not truthful. My mother was in hospice while there and several times we discovered they did NOT administer her medication or change her diaper. It was disgusting.

Our Family Does Not Recommend. Poor Care. This is the Old "Brighton Manor".

Care team has been great but upper management/owner does not seem to have patients'/residents' welfare and best interests in mind. My parent does not receive consistent showers and bathroom assistance. In order to ensure my parent's hygiene, we, the children of said parent, are bathing and toileting our parent on a regular basis, which is the STAFF'S JOB. This is what our family is paying an exorbitant amount of money for...to ensure our parent is clean and taken care of. Food is very low quality and not as healthy or nutritious as it could be. LPN has been very lazy, unhelpful and inadequate. . Please do not be deceived by the beauty of the facility; this senior residence is below par on every level in how it treats its residents and the "care" it provides, which are not up to the standards of its costs. Some of these issues are definitely the fault of upper management. it's sad that our parents worked their whole lives only to be treated with no dignity or respect.

Please don’t send anyone there

In[date removed] my mother was found unresponsive at Hampton Manor in Dundee, assisted living the morning after a documented medication issue. It took more than two hours after staff noticed she was unresponsive to get her help. They called 911 only after being directed to by my sister. There was a state investigation and they were found in violation and the delay in care documented. There were also multiple medication errors in the two week period she was at the facility, all documented. She was taken to the U of M emergency room, had a stay in the ICU and moved to Glacier Hills rehab. This was the very beginning of the pandemic in the US. We were unable to visit her, she declined with dementia, and we were unable to be with her until she entered hospice in [date removed] and died on her birthday, [date removed]. We believe the inaction and incompetence of the staff significantly hastened her death. I have documentation of the state investigation, medical records, emails, screenshots

Not a chance

I’m not even sure where to begin. I don’t think anyone in that building, mostly being management, knows what to do. Every other month it seems like a new nurse. No one in management seems to ever care about the girls that are care giving and passing meds needing serious help. All they do is announce on the walkies so and so’s light has been going for X amount of time. Every time I come in to visit my loved one, management is always in their offices w the doors closed. One aide in memory care esp after being promised there would be two and the loveliest gal just was fired out of nowhere. Which from the gossip I hear on the floor was not even a rightfully termination. I know families in memory care are not happy. I’m almost to the point where I’d rather take my loved one of Hampton manor of Woodhaven to a completely different company because this place continues to be one disappoint after another. The doors have been open for over a year and seems as if nothing will be resolved.

Do NOT let Commerce Comfort Care care for your loved one! AWFUL!

Commerce Comfort Care is totally unorganized. No one at the facility has any idea how to manage or run a place for the elderly. Very few staff, 1 or 2 young aids on weekends. No cook – if there is one, only two days a week. Little to no activities provided, making it very boring for seniors who are mobile/aware. HORRIBLE management. Trying to run the facility as cheap as they possibly can. Many better options of facilities for the same or lesser cost! Do your homework – Commerce Comfort Care is lacking in so many areas. Don’t trust their sales pitch! Take note of the things below if you do visit Commerce Comfort Care. You will be able to see for yourself! - Check weekend staff - Check weekend cook - Check cleanliness - Check management and length of employment - Check number of residents - why so incredibly low - Check for a routine in work (there isn't one) - Workers always sitting around - No follow-up on problems - Phone not answered on evenings and weekends
