I would recommend following a checklist to compare all communities visited. We chose Brookdale for a couple of reasons. We had previous interactions with one of the staff as she worked for my dad's previous place of residence. And secondly it worked out for me as I sometimes work on that side of town so I could stop by and visit

She knew right away my mother wasn't ready for memory care. she showed us assisted living apts. mom has been there almost 2 months and has been very happy. Moms comments to me are "they feed me so much. The food is really good." the ladies -care staff-are very nice. [name removed] is the activity coordinator. She is awesome! I see [name removed] help all the residents.

The grounds there are beautiful! There's a pond there with a fountain in the middle, paved walking paths all around, a gazebo, shaded areas to sit by the building. Lots of flowers. They have a gardening club. Dogs and cats are allowed. There are a lot of common areas to hang out, watch TV, do puzzles, etc.

I moved my husband to Brookdale TallGrass over 4 years ago when our lives were upset from the effects of Sundowner’s Disease due to dementia. The staff there understood the problems and were very helpful during this difficult process. Through the years his memory has continued to decline, but thanks to the great care and routines, he is able to function with minimum aid. The facility, though small in size, is great for getting to know other residents. Activities and outings are varied to appeal to different folks. I have been very pleased with all aspects of Brookdale TallGrass, especially the staff and continue to highly recommend the facility to all interested parties.
