Brookdale

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Brookdale Capitol memory care. From the moment you walk in, you feel the warmth, kindness, and genuine dedication of the staff. They treat every resident like family, showing unbelievable patience, compassion, and respect. The community is clean, welcoming, and full of engaging activities. We had a wonderful experience working with [name removed], the Admission Director. She was kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient throughout the entire process. She made what could have been an overwhelming transition feel smooth and supportive. We are very grateful for her guidance and highly recommend this community!

It's only been a month since we moved mom in at Brookdale. So far, I only have good things to say about Brookdale @ Grandon Farms. Our only communications have been the heads of the various departments who all are eager to help

Our counselor [name removed] found it as an alternative for us. it has Brookdale's reputation but Healthcare Plus that gives it the care we needed. We would recommend it to others. One thing we notice is that it would be so positive if there were more men that lived there. Also we picked building 4 because of the beautiful patio. We mistakenly thought that all the activities were in all the buildings. This was especially appealing to us because we wanted our loved one to be involved in activities. Not to just sit in his room and watch tv. Unfortunately there seem to be very few activities in building 4 so because He is not very mobile he sits in his room and watches tv. Unless someone goes and takes him to other buildings.

Our Mother has been at your facility for a Month now. We & she love it there. , I would highly recommend to others.

5 for all categories. What we like the most about the community is that the staff is just wonderful. Helpful, courteous, Respectful. The facility is warm, inviting, and organized. My mother in law loves it there. She lived with us for almost a year.

People are so helpful and good to us. When we need something, the staff is always there to help us. I don’t have one complaint. I think we have excellent activities and activity director is excellent.

I would give all of them a 5. We have been very satisfied with facility and staff. My mom is VERY happy there. The only criticism I have is that they could organize newcomer information better. It's a smaller facility (@35) and that will appeal to those wanting a more "homey" feel. The rectangular layout helps folks find their place easier than roaming down halls. The facility across the street was nice & even a little cheaper but with @70 residents my mom was overwhelmed.

It is a very clean place, with very qualified staff, food is very good, and my uncle is well cared for.

We were made to feel very welcome, and all of our questions were answered thoroughly and professionally. My wife was very impressed. The location is quite pleasant and very close to nearby facilities.

Such a friendly, caring staff. The facilities are very clean, food is good with a good variety. They have made the place very warm and festive for Christmas. My Mom is enjoying the activities and that is a big deal for her. We are pleased with our selection.

I highly recommend Brookdale. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and responsive with the residents and family members. My mother in law was hesitant about leaving her home but has thanked me several times for finding Brookdale. She is extremely happy there. The dining room is exceptional with menu choices and is open from 7 am to 7 pm. They have a salon with great prices. The cleaning/maid service as well as laundry service is great. They clean daily if you'd like with a deep clean once a week. She also loves the participating in the activities such as daily exercise, bingo and Friday movie night. I can't say enough about how much we appreciate your help with finding the best place for her.

[name removed] is so cheerful, helpful, compassionate and accommodating! She really helped us through the quicks and that Mom was stuck in. She let me know about specials, and we settled on a really good one. The facility is spectacular. Clean, lots of activity rooms and a full activity calendar. Every resident that we met, without exception, raved about the place, and wanted to show us around! The apartments are very roomy and well thought out, with the exception of the lack of counter space in the bathroom for toiletries. The heating is somewhat outdated, as there is one wall unit which serves both bedroom and living area. There is no air conditioning, which I thought was strange, but this facility is in a climate which would rarely call for one. Each unit has its own generous patio or balcony, which I love, because mom can have some plants and flowers out there. Large windows look out onto trees and mountains for the most part. This facility is a stone's throw from drugstores, grocery stores, banks, Target, Starbucks, and several very good restaurants. Two of the main health providers, Sutter and Adventist, both have clinics within a mile or so, and Dominican Hospital is about eight miles away in Santa Cruz, and Good Samaritan is over the hill in Los Gatos. Any number of excellent specialist physicians can be found in Santa Cruz. I did have a meal while we toured, which included salmon, which was very good, and in an appropriate portion. Meals are varied and healthful but I understand that there are always goodies around! For people who may be considering coming from other areas, it bears noting that the ocean is on one hand, and the redwood mountains on the other. This is a stunningly beautiful area, with an unparalleled climate. Considering all of this, I am very impressed with the value of Mom's apartment! In this area, which statistically has the highest rents in the whole country (!!) I expected a much higher rate. There are fancier more exclusive places, but this fits us just perfectly, which is saying something, because Mom is a perfectionist and very particular!

I would say be sure families know apartments are unfurnished and all supplies, ie. paper goods, soaps, towels etc are furnished by the family.

What we like the most about the community is that the staff pick up the phone when we call. Yes, we would recommend Brookdale Dickinson Avenue to other families based on the experience so far.

They run out of ordinary things like butter and jelly and maple syrup. The staff are so caring and helpful. They treated my mom like family. If she has to return to assisted living I would definitely let her go back there.

This is the best facility and people I have ever seen or heard of, in a sea of bad stories and examples, Brookdale is a wonderful, responsible, caring, outlier. I feel incredibly fortunate to have my mom at this amazing facility, and I am a PhD executive with expertise in healthcare. There are few, if any, like Brookdale and they truly care. The team calls and checks on residents every day, if at hospital (for example), coordinates everything...they truly care and call every day just to say hi or let the resident and family know they are thinking of them. You could not be more lucky than to have a loved one at this facility in Salem, Ohio.

I'd say that it is welcoming and friendly. It offers exactly what I want and need. It's safe and in a very convenient location. My dog has been welcomed and, since I still drive and have a car, I'm pleased to have a heated garage space.

My niece is liking it so far. Location and knowing relatives whose loved ones experienced living there. Also friendly, welcoming, and nice clean facility. Beautiful large dining room.
