A Place for Mom has scored Bayshire, LLC with 8.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 69 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Bayshire, LLC has 607 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4 out of 5.
Arrived on time, but had to wait, as it turns out Monique was tied up on the phone and Bernice (activities director?) apparently was asked to give me the tour. Bernice was kind and knowledgeable and did show me all of the facility, however, I came away with the feeling that the 'business' end was on top of their agenda. Monique met us at the end of the tour and took me back to her office to see if I had questions - advised me of a lot of incentives - discounts, financing, etc. Again, while I realize that all of the places are businesses, Emeritus left me with a bit of an uncomfortable feeling and while they would not be removed from our list, it definitely has them placing nearer the bottom.

They had one that was two bedrooms but the second bedroom looked like a closet. You could barely fit a twin bed in it. It was very expensive for a second bedroom you couldn't get a single bed into. I left because I thought that was absurd. I thought it was claustrophobic and stuffy.

OK, but a little sterile in terms of both the building and the people. It was clean, definitely clean, but didn't seem as warm. That could have been because of the high rise, it was more like a hospital that a place to live.

Nice facility. Definitely for seniors who are more frail, older, etc. Not for independent living or lightly assisted.

We went and saw this one. On the surface it looked pretty good but that was a fair way away from here and the week I put my wife in there, there was a report on it on the television. It wasn't a very good report. Of course it's a big conglomerate across the United States so some of them are bound to be not quite as good as the others.

It was very nice. It was very clean but there was a very disturbing odor about the place that you often find in nursing homes. I saw the people and they looked so old and so frail. I couldn't live with that. I don't mean to sound cruel but they looked as if they should have been in assisted living, not independent living. We had lunch in there. It was pretty large. I couldn't give you a head count but it was pretty large, I thought. Once you got away from the chandeliers and all the frilly stuff on the ground floor there were long corridors and horrible wall paper. It was not a place I could see myself living so I told the woman I would not be becoming a resident there.

The quality was not what they had advertised. The fact is that they left her in bed all the time and the price went up too so the quality went down but the price went up.

Didn't care for the location although it was around shopping. Facility was clean, but older. Staff was very nice. Not our first choice. Annual increase is too high 5-8%.Also respite stay requirement of 14 days was too long.

Liked this place as well. they do have a pool and currently no "Community Fees," and great incentives for moving in. The director is an amazing ambassador for the facility. She gave me a lot of information even if I don't choose them.

Having had my mom at 3 different facilities the main problem is the promises to get you to sign up and then you must constantly be following up if you want to hold the facility accountable for communication and follow through. It's a constant process.

My mother currently lives in Barton Creek. The State of Utah has updated the Covid-19 testing and quarantine guidelines but this facility doesn' appear to care. They don't do enough for the mental and emotional well-being of the residents. While in quarantine, meals have often been late or missed. Show you care more about the residents than the bottom line. Treat them like paying guests, not inmates!

We didn't like this community. There was a hospital odor. The other places we toured didn't have that smell and that turned us off when we walked in. We had a tour and it looked okay but it didn't have the "Wow " factor. When we were speaking to the representative she had some questions that I felt were inappropriate. I felt for a first interview that was not acceptable.

Since Brookdale bought this facility from Emeritus it has been well maintained physically. However, current management has cut staffing, cut quality of food and generally been unresponsive to complaints from residents about this. There are no RN nurses in the assisted living section. The staff, while very nice are over-employed and under educated. The administrator is in over his head and should be replaced. Corporate is unresponsive. The regional manager doesn't answer her phone nor return calls. So, while the facility is well maintained, the service to residents is inadequate.

I'm sure its a great place for many but this one did not work out for my parents. I was not there so would prefer to be neutral as my interaction and coordination with most staff was excellent. Had trouble with being transferred to a vacant line that hung up on several occasions but other wise Nick in Skilled Nursing was wonderful as were the front desk staff and lead nurse. one recommendation is to stay on the line to make sure transfers do not go to a recording and hang up without even opportunity to leave a message. I believe my parents were expecting the level of care of a skilled nursing facility yet were in assisted living a different level of care. My sister said the facility was very clean, pretty and food was great. She send photos and I concur it looked very nice indeed.

My mother has been at Brookdale for almost 6 months, and things have steadily gone downhill since they transitioned from Emeritus to Brookdale. VERY HIGH staff turnover which is directly opposite of what we were told when we first toured it as Emeritus. The carpets are filthy, work orders and repairs to the air conditioning system are ignored, and now it seems like they have some sort of leak or water damage problem to many of the rooms and walls in the main hallway. Before the Brookdale transition, the facility, while a bit older, was clean and had a pleasant smell. THAT IS NO LONGER THE CASE. There is a horrible odor (most likely due to the water damage) that greets you as soon as you walk in. There are a few employees who do a great job, but there are many more who should find another line of work (that is about as politically correct as I can make that statement). We pay for extra care services, which are oftentimes not delivered. They are often out of food at mealtimes, they are eliminating activities, and what they have continued to do is on a shoestring budget. I am still trying to figure out where they are spending/have spent that $2500 NON REFUNDABLE "community fee" you are charged (in addition to the ~ $3,000 per month rent) upon move in. Something isn't right at Brookdale Oceanside. I would advise those looking for assisted living to continue looking.
