Stay awsy

Awful place-my Friend went there for a short stay after back surgery. They did not give her her prescribed pain meds and did not respond to the call button. She was in excruciating pain. They did not respond to her call for assistance to go to the bathroom and took 4 days to help her shower. Another Friend and I had to call every 4 hours to remind them to give her her medication. Even then they slacked off. Not a safe place,

RUN the other way!

This place is horrible. DO NOT take your loved ones there. The CNA/Housekeeping staff does not speak nor understand English. The food is terrible. It is donated to Oak Hill, therefore most of it is canned or frozen. There are no activities, except Bingo. Like the other reviewer stated, if your loved one has no idea what's going on around them, this place would be somewhat OK. Please find someplace else!

Hostile environment. Low budget. Expect long waits between diaper changes and showers. Excessive human filth. I wouldn't put a parent here.

Brookdale is a wonderful place as long a you are a perfect senior.Do not break any rule or you will be evicted. When we first moved my mom-in-law in we said we would try assisted living knowing we would eventually need memory care. Unfortunately it was sooner than we thought and she forgot where she was and lit a cigarette in her room which is a big no no of coarse. Instead of helping us place her in memory care so she could be monitored the way she needed she was evicted completely. The advisor there said she wasn't their kind of people and he predicted it would happen again even on memory care.We found another facility that knows all we have been through and took her in ,no problem except the trauma to my mom-in-law because she had to be moved and she really liked Brookdale.

Not A Peaceful Place

We had a family member was placed in hospice care at this facility. I have to tell you that this place is terribly run down. The front entrance does not have the curb appeal that the photos in this web page have indicated. In order to check in we had to go to the second floor. For those of us less able, this is a difficult place to visit. The facility is not a peaceful place. I would never place a loved one at this facility. The staff were nice but they are clearly understaffed like most facilities.

This does not suit our needs. All residents are treated the same -- bathing down the hall, residents sitting all over halls and outside... not enough for them to do it seems. Mom does not need this level of care. Cost is same as other places and not as nice. No visitor parking.

Brookdale YL

When looking for a place to put my elderly father who suffers from dementia this placed seem to have all the needs met..Things start off good, and go to bad fast. They have activities and music time that at first they took my father out to, then as I started coming to visit I noticed he was not out any more.. I would find him in his room just looking out the window, sometimes not even dressed. or trying to get dressed, but he couldn't get his pants up by himself.. He went in there walking rather well, but he was soon put in a wheel chair, I'm sure it was so they could push him instead of waiting for him to walk to the dining room. When I asked if they would make sure my dad got out to activities with others they said yes, well that never happen. My dad feel several times, needing a trip to the hospital once for staples. They only get a shower twice a week, and they put most people in diapers, that don't get changed very often, so I feel if they are in dirty diapers daily they need a shower daily. They are very understaffed, and have very few RN's working there. Once I came into my dads room and he was laying on there floor, he had fallen and no one had even noticed him on the ground, or if they did they didn't stop to help him back up. I had talked to staff many times, asking them to do small things, like make sure hes dresses, take him to activities, asked to do his laundry that was overflowing since he had been in wet diapers for so long his clothes got wet too. One time I was visiting my dad in his room, it was lunch time. No one came and got him, I finally took him, 15 min after lunch had started, they said oh there you are... Really!!!! you didn't notice him not there, or just didn't care. No one checked his room to see where he was or seemed upset that he wasn't eating. I have know Idea how many other meals hes missed, because he didn't know it was time to eat, or no one came and got him. You need to supply all needs, diapers, Kleenex, personal products. This place in big bucks, so I would have thought diapers and Kleenex would be provided. I have since moved my dad to a place where the people shower him everyday, twice if needed, he is happy, he goes to activities, they take him outside for morning coffee he talked to other people and is much happier, This place is half the cost of Brookdale and does 100% better job..Best thing I ever did was move him out of Brookdale.

HORRIBLE Service!!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID... It looks great on the inside and outside..But Avoid I put my mom and dad in here and it was fine the first month but extra charges started showing up on my bill..They were promised Incentives short term but were conveniently forgotten from their bills .The accounting office were very unprofessional..ok Stupid very unhelpful dont respond to emails or phone calls.... My dad was suppose to have physical therapy every day at a certain time they said it was ongoing...Lie..I had friends of my Dads go in there and stay..no one ever showed up.. They said they were giving him his medication...another Lie... His arm was obviously swollen and no nurse did anything about it..other than bandage it up didnt tell any doctor or anyone. They just let it stay the way it was. My moms TV was promised to be installed by the management it took them 2 weeks... They lied again and said my mom was receiving her Medication by a nurse... The Place is beautiful but The Staff are terrible at following up with care and dont care.. Avoid taking your loved one here....

substandard care

The community interviews you first then tell you how much it costs. The food was not good at all and they had issues with meds not being given. Due to this, he ended up in the hospital 3 times. I would not recommend this community to others. The community lost items also including his glasses.

No one should put their loved one there

I would not put my dog in this place. They guaranteed us three nurses to be on round the clock care at each station and that never happened. They did not take care of our loved one, we found her three days after walking into the community perfectly fine, to being covered in food in a fetal position in a wheel chair stuffed in the back of a music room.

Horrible experience

This was a terrible experience for my husband, he went in to recover from a hip fracture , the bed and the television were not working , he was moved to a room used for storage of broken equipment, minimum physical therapy, 10 minutes , he had to request more, second night he developed numbness and was afraid of clotting kept calling for help, [name removed] went once and my husband was panicked, after many calls , she answered i pleaded with her to go in the room and calm him down and to call the doctor on call and ask if there was danger of a blod clott, to massage his leg, something, she never went back in the room. Next day I went to get him out, he told the person early in the morning that he was leaving and they didn't believe him I got there and they pretended they didn't know , because family cannot go in, they are free to go unchecked, would not recommend this place to anybody and will report it to the hospital social worker who said it was a place of quality, wrong!!!!! in our opinion anyway

Use at your peril

This is the second time a parent has been cared for in the skilled nursing part of the facility. The first time there were multiple errors by the staff, one of which necessitated a 911 call and a trip to the hospital. The most recent stay was a disaster; staff not reading or following the doctor's orders, no follow-up with family members, inconsistent answers when asked, etc.

Worst experience ever for my mom.

My mom had the worst experience in the skilled nursing section of Brookdale. It was terrible. They are understaffed. Some of the staff are quite rude & dismissive. It takes them way too long to respond to the patients which caused my mom to be constipated, etc. I was on the phone with my mom & told her ring for the nurse. It took over 40 minutes for someone to respond. My mom ended up with major panic attacks. My mother fell while she was there, hit her head &I truly don't know how long she was on the floor & either do they. When they called me they said she was taken to St. Jude Hospital. I called St. Jude but she was not there. I called Brookdale back & they said oh well, maybe they took her to Placentia Linda. They truly did not know where she was taken. It took at least 1 1/2 hrs. to find out where she was. It was horrible. It turned out they took her the Trauma Center because she was bleeding, her age & that she is on blood thinners. To this day, no one from Brookdale has ever called to see how she is doing, or even apologized for what happened or about the mix up on telling me the wrong information. I have written a complaint letter & they have yet to respond to my letter. That shows how much they care. She is home now but this whole experience has traumatized her for sure. I would never recommend Brookdale to anyone.

Please don’t take a loved on her

Me and my mother decided to try BrookDale Rancho Maroge. Worse place ever! They lied to me repeatedly and have me in a debt collection under false statements when I was signing paperwork. My mother was also harassed by a male nurse and when asked for this male nurse to please not give her a shower or change her diaper he continued to come back into the room for a couple days later. She asked for a different nurse and wasn’t given one. Until I finally got a hold of the right manager to stop this. I am in debt for $10,000 when signing paperwork I was told as her power of attorney I would not get billed for. My mother would. I have three children and a debt that I cannot afford. I have called and pleaded for this mid understanding to be resolved and put into my mother’s name. But since she passed I feel they did this on Purpose. I asked for a total breakdown of what each and every penny went to. It just saysBasic services on paper work with 3 Categories with three prices. Which explains nothing. I also called to check and see if my mom was drinking Because she had cirrhosis of the liver and I also I lived in a different state. They Promised to let me know if did drink or was drunk. I would call as ask them to check On her because she sounded drunk on the phone and they wouldn’t call me back or say the next day she wasn’t drinking. when I or a family member would go there or call her she would say yes I was drinking. They lied to me and family again. For her safety I needed to know and they kept lying to me. You can know when your parent has been drinking when you know them so well and I trusted Brookdale to be honest for her safety and her life! Please to do take a loved one here!
