Lack of caring and understanding

We did not have a good experience at Brookdale Rancho Mirage. They would say things that then did not transfire. There seemed to be a lack of caring and understanding. They don't meet the resident's personal needs. The food was fair, nothing great. But there were times they would not bring my mother her food. The residents there do not like it there at all. I had to move my mother back out of this community.

We had such high expectations. I thought I'd found the prefect place where he would be taken care of, safe, secure....

My husband wasn't there very long. A couple of weeks after he moved in, he was hospitalized with an infection in his toe. He's diabetic and his feet needed to be watched closely. They didn't check them. I don't know what happened while he was there, I only know of the consequences of him being there. He spent 3 weeks at [name removed], from there went to [name removed]rehab for a couple of months, then to home care at a home in La Costa. He was there two weeks, had a massive coronary, and passed away. I blame the carelessness of the staff at Vista Gardens. Had he been watched and taken care of more efficiently, he wouldn't have had such a bad infection at in which sent him to the hospital, which began his deterioration. We had such high expectations. I thought I'd found the prefect place where he would be taken care of, safe, secure, and healthy. But i failed.

Unacceptable fake facility

My mom's had various things come up mysteriously missing from her room before by dishonest caregivers, & the ratio of caregivers is sometimes as low as 1-2 per 18 residents, The quality of the food is poor. Parasites were found in the water at one point, only to have discover legionnaires disease,. Leaving no water for a period of 3 weeks! Outhouses in front. All and all, it's not worth the money one has to fork out to reside there, they'll certainly try to tell you anything to get you or your family member in there, but they do not deliver.

Poor care

Sadly, I found the care here poor. no one would answer the phone at any of the departments when I called. Left frequent emails with no response. When we decided to move my mother to another facility, the Director of long-term care phoned me quite upset and mad. I would not recommend letting any of your loved ones stay here, short term or long.

My tour review

I had a very good experience during the first tour. I went to a bbq that I was invited to and they would not let me in due to my vaccination card and since we did not have it they had no flexibility to let us in and this did not sit right with me. We should have had a heads up that the card was needed.

Bayshire Skilled Nursing is no place for rehab

My husband was in the skilled nursing portion of the Bayshire Rancho Mirage facility. His doctor sent him there for rehab prior to coming home because he had grown physically weak and required physical therapy. It was a terrible place for him. First, the physical therapy was not daily but only once or twice a week. We knew he was weak but nobody even bothered to show him leg and arm exercises for the times when he could not get out of bed. Further, he was not bathed properly and came home with sores on his backside. His clothing was not changed for days on end. And sadly not a single physician or nurse called me to update our family so we had no idea that he was being neglected to the extent that he was. He suffered so much from the lack of care that he called me and begged me: "get me out of this place. I cannot take it here." Finally he discharged himself "against medical advice" and we were able to bring him home.

Horribly understaffed

I do not have experience with the facility after it was rebranded in [date removed]. Prior to rebranding, it was severely understaffed with dishonest administrators. Some of the individual care givers are excellent, but they have many more residents than they can handle, and the attitude of the managers is one of hostility. They care only about profits snd not at all about the care of the residents.

Barton Creek care center needs to review their own Hippa policy.

We moved our father out of Barton Creek a week ago, and kept it confidential where he was going. Within the last 7 days not only were we asked where he was going by the administrative team, CNA’s, they continue to ask his care givers, the driver whom transported him to his new location, and my family members. They are still asking as of yesterday, 7 days after we moved our father. I was a part of Barton Creeks team for over 8 years and I know for a fact that this is unexceptionable behavior from any caregiver whom follows the HIPPA policy.

Never again

If Nancy Reagan taught us anything, it's to "just say no"! They are understaffed. The staff they have are quite rude and dismissive. It takes them way too long to respond to the patients. My mother in law slipped off her bed while getting dressed and it took over 20 minutes for staff to respond! It took 3 residents and 1 staff member to find the appropriate help. Unacceptable!!! The facility apologized but we're way beyond that. They had no explanation for their actions only a "I'm really sorry". Thankfully she was ok. This is not the first time this has happened either. They are slow to respond constantly. The kitchen area on the 2nd floor is always dirty with food and dishes from previous meals that should have been cleaned up long ago and the dining room/bingo area is dark and dank. This place needs some life and some better staff. Not happy

Medical concerns at brookdale San dimas

If u love your family member at all don’t put your loved one here, even though A place for mom would quickly recommend . Non medical staff make medical decisions, food is terrible, people yell during the night and cry out and nobody comes. If you push the button on a pendant you can sometimes wait for half an hour and that will tell you they are short staffed. If you have a complaint they all say they will take care of it and yet nothing will ever happen. They will kiss your butt to get you to sign up and give them their money but they will never ever be like that again. Read yelp and consumer affairs edcoecually and I know once you are informed there will be no way in hell you would put even a squirrel or mouse in this place!

Stay awsy

Awful place-my Friend went there for a short stay after back surgery. They did not give her her prescribed pain meds and did not respond to the call button. She was in excruciating pain. They did not respond to her call for assistance to go to the bathroom and took 4 days to help her shower. Another Friend and I had to call every 4 hours to remind them to give her her medication. Even then they slacked off. Not a safe place,

RUN the other way!

This place is horrible. DO NOT take your loved ones there. The CNA/Housekeeping staff does not speak nor understand English. The food is terrible. It is donated to Oak Hill, therefore most of it is canned or frozen. There are no activities, except Bingo. Like the other reviewer stated, if your loved one has no idea what's going on around them, this place would be somewhat OK. Please find someplace else!

Brookdale is a wonderful place as long a you are a perfect senior.Do not break any rule or you will be evicted. When we first moved my mom-in-law in we said we would try assisted living knowing we would eventually need memory care. Unfortunately it was sooner than we thought and she forgot where she was and lit a cigarette in her room which is a big no no of coarse. Instead of helping us place her in memory care so she could be monitored the way she needed she was evicted completely. The advisor there said she wasn't their kind of people and he predicted it would happen again even on memory care.We found another facility that knows all we have been through and took her in ,no problem except the trauma to my mom-in-law because she had to be moved and she really liked Brookdale.

Not A Peaceful Place

We had a family member was placed in hospice care at this facility. I have to tell you that this place is terribly run down. The front entrance does not have the curb appeal that the photos in this web page have indicated. In order to check in we had to go to the second floor. For those of us less able, this is a difficult place to visit. The facility is not a peaceful place. I would never place a loved one at this facility. The staff were nice but they are clearly understaffed like most facilities.

This does not suit our needs. All residents are treated the same -- bathing down the hall, residents sitting all over halls and outside... not enough for them to do it seems. Mom does not need this level of care. Cost is same as other places and not as nice. No visitor parking.

When looking for a place to put my elderly father who suffers from dementia this placed seem to have all the needs met..Things start off good, and go to bad fast. They have activities and music time that at first they took my father out to, then as I started coming to visit I noticed he was not out any more.. I would find him in his room just looking out the window, sometimes not even dressed. or trying to get dressed, but he couldn't get his pants up by himself.. He went in there walking rather well, but he was soon put in a wheel chair, I'm sure it was so they could push him instead of waiting for him to walk to the dining room. When I asked if they would make sure my dad got out to activities with others they said yes, well that never happen. My dad feel several times, needing a trip to the hospital once for staples. They only get a shower twice a week, and they put most people in diapers, that don't get changed very often, so I feel if they are in dirty diapers daily they need a shower daily. They are very understaffed, and have very few RN's working there. Once I came into my dads room and he was laying on there floor, he had fallen and no one had even noticed him on the ground, or if they did they didn't stop to help him back up. I had talked to staff many times, asking them to do small things, like make sure hes dresses, take him to activities, asked to do his laundry that was overflowing since he had been in wet diapers for so long his clothes got wet too. One time I was visiting my dad in his room, it was lunch time. No one came and got him, I finally took him, 15 min after lunch had started, they said oh there you are... Really!!!! you didn't notice him not there, or just didn't care. No one checked his room to see where he was or seemed upset that he wasn't eating. I have know Idea how many other meals hes missed, because he didn't know it was time to eat, or no one came and got him. You need to supply all needs, diapers, Kleenex, personal products. This place in big bucks, so I would have thought diapers and Kleenex would be provided. I have since moved my dad to a place where the people shower him everyday, twice if needed, he is happy, he goes to activities, they take him outside for morning coffee he talked to other people and is much happier, This place is half the cost of Brookdale and does 100% better job..Best thing I ever did was move him out of Brookdale.
