Stay away

zero Stars. My Frirnd went there for a few weeks to recover from a major back surgery. She used her call button numerous times for help to the bathroom and to receive her prescribed meds. It took up to 45 minutes for them to respond resulting in her being in excruciating pain. Not to mention she had to navigate herself to the bathroom which is a safety risk. Another of her Friends and I called every 4 hours to be sure they gave her her prescribed meds. Awful place-even after we did all the calls and visits they slacked off on her pain meds.

Never Send Someone You Love To This Awful Place

If you care for your loved one, you would never want to send them to a place like Brookedale San Dimas or spend your money at this [removed]. They have the worst service, an staff of unprofessional, uncaring people who call themselves caregivers/nurses, but are only there for a paycheck, and neglect patients when their family friends are not visiting or around. This place is absolutely awful, and I would never want someone else to go through this during the toughest time of their life.

Horrible Place

Horrible place to send your loved ones. Run the other way and do not place your parents here. The staff will threaten them and treat them badly. They are not professional and do not provide compassion or empathy to them when they are in pain. Very disappointed in the lack of care.

Think twice before bring mom or dad to brookdale !!!

The worst place to take your mom or dad!!!!!! The nurses are rude. All of them are unprofessional and not sensitive at all. I had my father there he was transfer from hospital they didn't even check on my dad all night just left him there. My father was so dirty from his bottom and his depends was full of bm and rashes from the irritation of his bm. Bleed from his penis. It was overwhelming for me, words can not describe how upset I was.

What started off well ended badly

My mom lived here for 2 years. She came in fully functioning. Last year she broke her leg and required more care, and then I realized that call button response times were about 30-45 minutes. She was in and out of SNF side of Brookdale, call time response over there 15-30 minutes. Staff is kind but stretched. Billing was a nightmare. Last straw was when she was wrongfully evicted the day she was discharged from SNF with hospice care. Moving my 95 year old mom the same day she was supposed to move back to her comfortable apartment to finish her life - was very stressful for both of us. She died less than 3 weeks later. Community Care Licensing investigation says "just a big misunderstanding" and stamps "inconclusive". BBB files complaint under another company name. No justice for the elderly. Beware the Big Corporation Eldercare. They really do only want your money and will tell you anything to get your loved one to move in.

Not A Good Experience

This community is big with a lot of residents and not enough staff. I did not like my experience with this community and I feel the staff are not equipped to provide the best care for everyone. Communication between the staff and I were not always the truth. In the end I took my husband out from this community because he was not getting the best, proper, care.

Disaster with Medications

Day after day, I met with the nursing staff regarding my loved ones medications. It was a disaster. I complained to the doctor, head nurse, shift nurse, etc. all to no avail. I finally brought in the needed medications, but after 3 days they found them and took them away. Then I get a bill from Omnicare for $800.00 for drugs. Drugs that were to come home with her, but never did. I have attempted to discuss this issue with the Administrator, Randy , but he will NOT return any phone calls. I am now contacting the Elder Laws for a resolution Facility looks nice, but functions horribly. Beware that if your loved one is placed her, you must be there daily to make sure they are okay. Every patient needs an Advocate and should not be left alone. The only department that seemed to care was OT and PT. They really work well with the patient. Thank God we got her home in 2 weeks and hired caregivers to meet her needs.

A word of warning: consider this review before leaving loved one at Oak Hill

The place is clean. That's the high point. Beyond that, I would NOT recommend Oak Hill Nursing Home in Escondido to anyone who cares about their loved one. In fact, run the other direction! Here's why: the rooms are basically 2-bed hospital rooms. No privacy for residents. The caregivers do not speak English or do not speak it well enough to effectively communicate with residents. Nurses make themselves scarce. The caregivers seem to also be the maids, so the education, qualifications, and experience level of these aides is questionable. There are NO activities to engage residents' minds, bodies or spirits, with the exception of bingo. My loved one is high functioning yet is placed in a building with people who are not. Some yell down the hallways constantly in their delirium or dementia and it is not only heartbreaking but unnerving to residents who are trying to rest, eat or just have a peaceful existence. If your loved one is completely taken over by dementia, senility or Alzheimer's and does not know what is going on at all, MAYBE this would be a place to consider. However, if their cognitive abilities are still even partially intact, this nonprofit alternative to nursing care is not the place for them. They will not be nurtured and thrive in their golden years at Oak Hill. In fact, the lack of respect, engaging activities, socializing and compassionate care will likely accelerate their decline. There are surely much better options in Escondido for your loved one!
