The first day I walked in to Baldwin house I knew that's where I wanted my mom to live. It was very bright and welcoming. They had music playing in the main room with lots of residents visiting with each other. The residents and the staff were all so friendly during every visit during the whole process. The chef makes delicious well balanced meals and he's just so kind to everyone and truly cares for their wellbeing. My mom has been there now for a month and is starting to really feel comfortable and venturing out more and more as the days pass taking advantage of all of the activities that they offer. I have no regrets and would highly recommend Baldwin House. :)

My father (and I) loved the Baldwin House except for two things: (1) they do not offer meals (for purchase) - although he does most of his own cooking, meals for purchase was something that my father was looking for in his move to an senior living facility because it offered an opportunity for socialization; and (2) the appliances/furnishing (i.e., the stove and refrigerator, and the shared laundry machines, as well as the countertops, shower, sinks, flooring) were on the older side and were of a middle to lower level of quality. This second issue was counter-balanced by the otherwise high quality of the facility, including the grounds and location, and the very fair and reasonable cost. However, my father decided on another place that better met his personal needs. Although Baldwin House was not my father's choice, it was definitely a close second, and we would definitely recommend it for someone who does not care about meals for purchase.

My mother in law is adjusting nicely to her apartment at Baldwin House. It is quite spacious and we were able to move much of her furniture with her...thus making it feel like 'home' almost instantly. She really appreciates the meals, activities and amenities ( such as the salon, grocery deliveries and house keeping ) which make everyday living more interesting and pleasant. It was the right move and we are grateful for her care at BH.

What we like the most about the community is the Friendliness, descent sized and nice rooms. Quick process to get moved in. To change, menu, more choices, more elevators, stationary call buttons. Electronic room locks.

I would recommend. I chose them because of the affordability.

Overall, it's a great place and my parents have really enjoyed living there and the activities that are offered. As for the meals, they are good but higher in carbohydrates, which is not great for someone that is pre diabetic or diabetic. It would be great if there were more healthy options that aren't pasta or rice based.

We chose this facility initially because it had a warmer, home-like feel to it versus the others. There have just been a few occasions where some of the staff did not seem helpful.

Very nice place if you can afford it. We picked this community because they had porch.

Change in manager had a negative effect with many residences. Management change was negative. Activities usually organized by the residents. Changes to community celebrations changed with new management. Baldwin House has really nice apartments, library with a huge assortment of books, a meeting room for residents games , family gatherings. Don't know how management is now but the facility is good

It is a clean place with lots of events for residence. I think the price is very high for please independent living and on a fixed income. The staff is friendly. There are activities that the residents can enjoy monthly.

He was able to afford a place at Baldwin House but not other facilities we looked at. Staff seem friendly. My uncle doesn't interact much with staff as he doesn't eat his meals with the residents. He also plays euchre but they do not play it there. I would recommend Baldwin House to others looking.

The residents are very friendly. The staff is wonderful. There are some activities, but not a lot. I would recommend this place to anyone. The "aging in place" concept is very good. I will not have to move my mom as she needs more assistance.

The community tries its best to give my loved one, what is needed but if they refuse to go down for meals or other care activities, it's hard to devalue the caregivers. Overall, I think it's a good place to be. Yes I would recommend. I think all places are suffering from high turnover at this point in time.

Very friendly staff. Not enough washing machines/dryers for the building and limited time to use them. They need more activities such as art, lectures, silly games etc. They need a larger budget for the food. It would be nice if they had small menu style meals - home cooked and larger portions.

I have moved from here. Most categories are great except for the value. Rent goes up every year, some people are paying $[removed]. I am not sure why the rent is so high for seniors because they are going by each individual income vs Mshda scale!

I would recommend. It is Independent Living now.

The leader ship of Baldwin house have been wonderful to work with. Their communication is excellent. When my mother encountered an illness, the staff engaged appropriately, assessed her condition, and got her to the emergency room quickly. It is a comfort to know that they can be the eyes and ears for the family When needed. The facility smells clean, and that is not true of others that we visited. One thing that could be improved is adjusting food choices to individual resident needs. A great deal of the food has a significant salt content and that is not good for many elders. It is just an opportunity for improvement.

Everyone is friendly. In our case, housekeeping is done monthly, cannot honestly comment on that. Communication with family is very good. Move in was flawless. Improvements, well not directly related to the home, but the help/medical staff. Have a pendant and was used in the first few days, and what I heard was that they showed no compassion. Not something the family wants to hear, we chose this community because of their care level, yet (again not the home's responsibility since it is an outside company providing the assistance). I would highly recommend this complex, with a cautionary note for the outside company providing the care. Time will tell if we will be regretting the move.

The staff at Baldwin House Lakeside Senior Living are very helpful and friendly. [Name removed], at the front desk, is always available during the day Monday through Friday. The housekeeping is good. My loved one has been very disappointed in the meals. For example, by the time he gets his eggs at breakfast, they are almost always cold. Also, I understand that bacon and eggs are not an option to get together. He told me one day he can get eggs and toast and another day bacon and toast. I believe there is only one person in the kitchen. It makes it terribly hard for that person to keep up with the demand of the residents for food service. Also, my loved one does not like a lot of the meals. Therefore, starting this month, we opted out of the full meal service and I will be taking him shopping every Friday to get foods for the week. The other disappointment was the activities. The activities sign states that there is Euchre several times a week. That is my loved one's favorite card game. He was looking forward to meeting other people and playing Euchre. However, there is no Euchre at all there. They do play Bingo, but he is not interested in Bingo. Overall, I believe that my loved one quite happy there. The room and the area is very nice. At this time, he goes to the Clinton Township Senior Center to play cards.

They provide housekeeping and activities. My husband and I have found the staff to be pleasant, and responsive when needed. Of course, I can't speak totally for my loved one who lives there. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.
