The movie theater is a feature and is clean, its shows some nice movies. My mom dislikes the food she says its ok. Overall I’m pleased.

We arrived on time anticipating that we would have both lunch and a tour (noon). Through a communication glitch, our arrival was more of a surprise. Even unannounced, director graciously welcomed us in and gathered information from Mom. We did not have lunch, but did get an invitation to return for a meal at a later date. Sharon showed us the dinning room and meal choices, the laundry room, chapel, and then a one bedroom and two bedroom apartment. Mom really liked the one bedroom apartment and seemed to respond positively to everything that the director talked about.

I liked this community but the vibe and care that I seen at the community that I picked out shined this community and what was offered.

My Dad lives here. I think I visited every assisted living facility in a 50 mile radius of Lansing. My mom was in another facility on the west side and my Dad ended up at Vista Springs Edgewood. Here’s what I would recommend- look beyond the facility. My mom’s facility was newer, felt “fancier” , had more technology- it was the kind of place you walked into and went-“ohhhh, this is nice!” But guess what- if the staff are not trained well, not managed well and not treated well by management- it doesn’t matter how nice the surrounds are. The most important thing to look for is the staff. Vista Springs is run by someone who knows what she’s doing. The staff is great. There’s almost always an activity and while it’s not the newest facility, the residents are well taken care of. If I could have moved my mom here, I would have. I think the people who live here feel like they have a second family. There’s a lot of interaction- in a good way. The food is also very good. And they always have the beverage station downstairs stocked. I visit my dad three times a week and know quite a few of the folks who live here, as well the folks who work here. I think it’s a wonderful place.

Here at American House Oakland you really get your money worth. There are so many wonderful activities, and the food is good too. I have made so many new friends.

When I came here everyone was so friendly. The activities are great, and all the staff are friendly. Overall a great place to live.

My loved one has really enjoyed the residents that are in this community. They are all very friendly and welcomed her right into her new living environment making her feel right at home. The staff has a great activity program and often brings entertainment. I am very satisfied with this facility and would recommend it to anyone.

They offer all kinds of activities including exercise classes and field trips. The staff are very nice, help with our questions we have good communication and they are very accommodating. The food is really good and they offer dessert with every meal. The community looks nice and is kept very clean.

Everyone has been friendly and helpful. They understand the emotional change from living on one's own to living in a community. The staff and residents have been encouraging.

Friendly, good food, and clean. Older building, small room, rooms, lower price. I would recommend it to others depending on what they need.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. The common areas are kept clean and welcoming for families. What I would say they could communicate better, is when we toured, [name removed] sold us on the Income-credit being more accessible than it was. When we actually signed papers, the person who handles all the finances, stated it could be years compared to the "months" we were originally told. Transparency and honesty go a long way with me and it breeds distrust when you feel mislead just to "boost" a sale.

The first day I walked in to Baldwin house I knew that's where I wanted my mom to live. It was very bright and welcoming. They had music playing in the main room with lots of residents visiting with each other. The residents and the staff were all so friendly during every visit during the whole process. The chef makes delicious well balanced meals and he's just so kind to everyone and truly cares for their wellbeing. My mom has been there now for a month and is starting to really feel comfortable and venturing out more and more as the days pass taking advantage of all of the activities that they offer. I have no regrets and would highly recommend Baldwin House. :)

My father (and I) loved the Baldwin House except for two things: (1) they do not offer meals (for purchase) - although he does most of his own cooking, meals for purchase was something that my father was looking for in his move to an senior living facility because it offered an opportunity for socialization; and (2) the appliances/furnishing (i.e., the stove and refrigerator, and the shared laundry machines, as well as the countertops, shower, sinks, flooring) were on the older side and were of a middle to lower level of quality. This second issue was counter-balanced by the otherwise high quality of the facility, including the grounds and location, and the very fair and reasonable cost. However, my father decided on another place that better met his personal needs. Although Baldwin House was not my father's choice, it was definitely a close second, and we would definitely recommend it for someone who does not care about meals for purchase.

My mother in law is adjusting nicely to her apartment at Baldwin House. It is quite spacious and we were able to move much of her furniture with her...thus making it feel like 'home' almost instantly. She really appreciates the meals, activities and amenities ( such as the salon, grocery deliveries and house keeping ) which make everyday living more interesting and pleasant. It was the right move and we are grateful for her care at BH.

What we like the most about the community is the Friendliness, descent sized and nice rooms. Quick process to get moved in. To change, menu, more choices, more elevators, stationary call buttons. Electronic room locks.

I would recommend. I chose them because of the affordability.

Overall, it's a great place and my parents have really enjoyed living there and the activities that are offered. As for the meals, they are good but higher in carbohydrates, which is not great for someone that is pre diabetic or diabetic. It would be great if there were more healthy options that aren't pasta or rice based.

We chose this facility initially because it had a warmer, home-like feel to it versus the others. There have just been a few occasions where some of the staff did not seem helpful.
