Something is very wrong with the management. residents living in atria deserves a good service, particularly in the dining. some have attitude problems. too bad they don't have cameras installed in the dining area. where the family of the residents may know how good or bad their loved ones are being treated at times. What makes it worst the management are taking away hours from the servers/waitresses/waiter who are good nice and efficient in their work. and giving more hours/days to the bad ones, How can anyone hire and retain servers who shouts at residents, they must have forgotten that they are serving or working in an assisted living facility and not a prison facility or prison house. Makes me think and question whos the warden? Retain the good ones and cut the hours/days of the bad ones and give it to the ones who are performing well. it's not that hard. and it seems, they are also, so blind as to who are the good ones and the bad ones, that they cant see and making a bad judgment. So here : Please open your eyes the good ones: [named removed] [named removed] [named removed] [named removed] [named removed] [named removed] [named removed] [named removed] Now let's see if they are only blind or their maybe deaf as well. blindness and deafness is really a bad combination. its bad enough if someone is blind, worse it is when the management is blind and deaf. geezz! Really Ridiculous! the names have been told to them or are they experiencing some dementia as well? tsk tsk tsk.

This use to be one of the nicest senior home in Scottsdale but since new ownership of Atria (large corporation) it has gone downhill fast. The major issues are: 1. The food is absolutely awful. New chef but worse than ever . 2. They increase prices by over 7% per year. Poor value. 3. Management makes promises to upgrade the home but don't deliver. 4. This use to be mostly independent living with a separate section for assisted living. Now they try to upgrade you to their "Legacy" program which cost $500 more per person and offers inadequate staff that just roam the hallways with 2-way radios. 5. the dining room is packed with wheelchairs and walkers and it is dangerous for residents to walk through because it was not designed for this purpose. 6. There is always a shortage of staff so the current workers are overworked. Turnover is high. The only redeeming element is that they do a pretty good job with events for the residents. It is very sad that such a prestigious property has gone down hill so quickly. I would definitively would not recommend it unless you have a very large budget and can put up with horrible food.

We were pleased with Atria Briarcliff when we toured. The community was very nice, and the people seemed very friendly and helpful. However, we were asked to make a deposit to hold the room for my loved one before she was even evaluated for move-in. We made the deposit in good faith, and they advised that they would hold the payment until after the evaluation, but we were changed anyway. I found this very deceiving and unpleasant. We ended up not moving in, and it took over a month to get a refund from them because they gave us the run-around. The community itself is very nice, but I feel that other prospective residents should be aware of our experience so they don't have to deal with the nightmare that we did.

We toured this community on 10/31/17 and the hard sale was amazing and we weren't even looking to move till January. But again they SOLD me and I pay the community fee and then November's rent and December's rent. She fell and we thought she was going to be ok and still could move in but she was on the 3rd floor and I kept in touch with them and asked if she would be able to get in her room without issues with a walker. And they said yes she would have trouble so I requested another room and they said they would get back to me and they never did and by that time mom had died and this was November 28th NEVER even moved anything in this place. And they had poor communication skills. They finally refunded me 1/2 of the community fee and kept November rent and will refund December. They had no compassion and was quick to take my money.

Mom was asked to leave this location only after 11 days of moving in. I feel that intenlly they were not the most forthcoming in what level of care they could truly provide to someone in my moms condition. We were assured they were well equiped to handle any situations that came up which they were not. I found them to be misleading and unprofessional for the entire staff. The staff was kind and friendly but that doesn't go very far when they are not providing the care you were promised. They are not willing to work with us to get what we think we are entitled to have returned to us in the form of payment that we prepaid.

My husband was there 4 days when he fell the first time. After 3 weeks in the hospital and rehab he returned to Atria, payed for more care and 5 hours later he fell again. When he told the nurse he was in pain she suggested we wait till morning and talk to the physical therapist I suggested she ask him if he can move at which time he cried out in pain. I told her to send him back to emergency and found out it was a broken hip. Probably needless to say I moved him out of Atria FALLING Assistance.

DON"T MOVE THERE!----My mom moved back to NY to be near family. When she first moved in to Atria Rye Brook, the facility was well run, had a fully stocked cafe with snacks replenished throughout the day and a decent restaurant. Not anymore! The snacks are gone. The restaurant is awful and The Cafe only has awful coffee or lukewarm tea, no snacks. Every year the rent increased over 3% and the quality went downhill. At holiday times, they used to invite family members (for free) for dinners or lunches. Now the parties only include the residents, (maybe a desert only party for Halloween or Christmas). THere used to be family barbecues for the 4th of July & Labor Day. Those celebrations no longer include families. The windows in the apartments are all broken. They don't open. If they do, they won't close. Frequently the heat & a/c are broken. The infrastructure needs to be replaced. It was poorly designed and very cheaply built. The individual heat or a/c units in the apartments are VERY noisy & inefficient. My biggest complaint however, is the other component,ATRIA HOME CARE, which runs the optional home health agency in the building. Although it is very convenient to have this on-site agency, the quality of the care is questionable in many ways. The agency is understaffed and poorly run. Many of the aides are not well trained to deal with the personalities and problems of senior citizens. There is only one licensed nurse on staff, and no one is there at night. Absenteism is a problem and they don't have enough staff to cover the needs of the residents on a daily basis. THe billing system for Atria Home Care sends out [Removed], inflated bills and doesn't check the accuracy of their own accounting. They use a phone system to track the charges for Atria Home Care. The system frequently overcharges for the service and if you don't check the bills line by line you could be overcharged thousands of dollars. NO ONE CARES. This agency needs to be reported to the Better Business Bureau in Westchester County. If money managers or insurance companies are paying these bills, without carefully checking the charges with the residents, I am sure the bills are frequently wrong. Atria Home Care is not an agency you want to hire to care for your loved ones. Stay away, they are not caring or nurturing, they are just a business in place to make money. Atria Rye Brook is a residence that costs a ton of money and barely delivers.

I toured this community and found that it did not have a good atmosphere for the residents. This is a bigger community and they need to make some repairs and make it look newer and brighter community. The walk to the door is very far. The community needs new carpet and new appliances. We would not recommend this community to others, but they might want to tour the community for care for a loved one.

This residence is not at all what it claims to be. It is not clean. Trash is unattended. Rugs are unclean. Apartment cleaning, which is paid for in the rent, is unreliable and less than basic. The food is not good, other than when salespersons are trying to convince families of loved ones to sign the rental agreement. The personal care is largely provided by unskilled persons, not certified nursing assistants. Personnel treat residents very poorly when physical abilities decline. For many of the ailing residents, this facility is no better than [Removed]. The corporation is concerned with profit only and is basically completely immoral.

Do not move here. The elevators keep breaking, leaving seniors stranded upstairs, or in the lobby. Over a period of two years (when my parent lived here), they have continued to break. There seems to be no effort to actually replace these aging elevators. Recently, all three were out at the same time - an extremely dangerous health issue. In spite of these problems, and the aging and dated facilities, management has put in very high increases in rent each year. While they have plans to renovate, there has been no current justification for the large increases to date.

Totally agree with those who say that caring is mostly absent from this atria. ..especially from caretakers & top management.. My father has been here for Some time & there really is not much good I can say. And like others we can't move him now. It's run like a hotel- clean room (barely)- wash clothes.. their job is done! Lots of staff leave too -- guess they can't take it. Always looking for ways to charge more.

I moved my mother out of the Atria, we did not like that place at all. They did not even have a general manager for like 3 months for the memory care unit. They would hire kids that were 18,19, and 20. They didn't even know what they're doing. Every time I visited my mother, it could have been a movie, dinner, or in her room, she would say "get me the hell out of here I hate this place". A gentleman that worked there told me everyone was leaving thaT place left and right. He told me stories of ladies falling, and how there was one nurse for every 5 patients, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
