I'd say just to schedule a tour of the facility and meet members of the staff in person to get a good feel for the place. The facility was well maintained, and the staff displayed a nice combination of...

The staff is very accommodating, they have a lot of excursions my mom likes to go on. Food is good for the most part and the head chef is open to listening to feedback. Room size would be fine if she didn't...

The folks at Emeritus in San Juan Captistrano have been great with my mom. She has dementia however is still too "with it" to be in Memory Care. They are providing great support, activities and concern for my mom. The only trouble I have had is the night time care givers are less quick to respond and not very knowledgable. However, any concerns I have had have been quickly addressed. I am very happy with this choice!

I especially like the atmosphere. It has a good feel. There is a lot of socialization among the residents. They have a movie room, crafts, a swimming pool, a chapel and bible studies, a post office, a cafe when the dining room isn't open. There are a lot of places to congregate. I'm not familiar with the financial side of the service. I have two family members there, and they have different needs; one has alzheimers, and he gets good care, and the other needs more socialization; they both get what they need. I think they are understaffed at the front desk. It takes longer than we would like for maintenance to be taken care of. The facility is nice. The people running the facility seem stressed out, and it takes a long time for things to be addressed, and they are not addressed as completely and thoroughly as they would like. Also, my parents have been struggling with scabies, and we would like to see the facility do more to help them get rid of it. They have their own apartments and bathrooms and share their living area.

My son is staying there; he seems to be happy. I was looking for someplace that is secure and that would be able to check on him if he slept too much; he tends to sleep a lot. The place is clean. It seems to be an answer to my prayers. They are very good about taking him to doctors' appointments, which relieves me of a lot of responsibility. He has laundry privileges, and they give him meals every day. It was a relief to find a place like this. I'm happy with it so far.

19th Ave & Glendale Rd area torn up due to light rail construction. Building undergoing renovations in main building & apartments, seemed liked an older building. Reasonably priced, residents seemed friendly, happy.

It’s a good community for someone who is looking for a community with a wide range of services that range independent living, assisted living, to nursing care – so that someone can age in place – pretty much for the rest of their life. Food is pretty good.

My loved one has been living here for about a month and a half, and we have had a pretty positive experience so far. The food is pretty good, but the service is very slow -- we've waited up to an hour to get food. A few days before we got moved in, we found that there were a lot of things not ready. At the same time, there was a lot of staff turn over which made it difficult to get some things nailed down (a lot of staff members were doing the work of two people at times). It has a sort of Tuscan atmosphere to it, but there is not much light and not many places to gather. On the plus side, there is construction happening around the community that they are offering discounts for.

Felt like there was a real sense of community. Didn't like the 'city living' feel of the building. Would probably like it better if the construction wasn't happening.

We have had some difficulty getting in touch with someone before when we have called. Communication with the families could be better, maybe monthly or bi-monthly phone calls or reports to let us know how the loved one is doing. Everything has gone pretty well and we like the way the community looks and the way it's kept up.

This is working out well for our family members. They take good care of the units, and they are kept clean. However, some of the carpets need to be cleaned. The care services are offered through a different company, and it's about $750/mo. They're pretty happy with the activities, as far as what they can participate in. We went to a lot of places, and for what we're paying, they're doing really well. The 2 Bed/2 Bath units are also really nice.

Enjoyed the many small touches in decor meant to create a homey environment. Apartments are roomy and pleasant. Pet friendly is a big plus. Courtyard and outdoor space are a little stark. Melissa was very helpful and encouraging.

My mother is in rehab at Emeritus right now. It is OK, but I think that she could get more attention. I can't say anything bad about it. I like the physical therapy staff there. She's only going to be there for a week or so more and then we're hoping she'll get to go home.

Decided not to go there. I thought it was fine. I was a little concerned how she would fit in to the environment in general. She's always lived alone and I thought this might be a little big for her. They were very nice and it was clean but I was also a little concerned about the level of care they would provide and what they would charge for that.

The cleanliness is good. I haven't noticed any problems with that. The care is a tough one to rate. I think my dad would probably give it a three. I think they're a little short staffed. I think if you have all your faculties the activities might be good but they're not really strong for people with disabilities. For them to improve, I think I would just have them look at their staff ratios. I think some of the things we have issues with are because my dad is deaf and blind and they're not necessarily adequately staffed for that nor have they created activities that cater to that population.

Saw this one today. Best bang for the buck. They only offer 2 meals; continental breakfast in their cafe, but she can always get an egg their too for 40 cents. Lots of amenities, but also a distance from my house. 502 sq. ft. 1 bedroom units going for $1495-1695. Depends on where they are located. She said she could get us a large 1 bedroom in the farthest building for the $1495 price. Those are 700 sq. ft. Jewish family and Children's services meets there. None of these facilities has a lot of Jewish people, but they may have more. Personal laundry svcs. would be $10 a load. Phone would be $25 per month LD included.
