I like the staff at Brookdale Christown. They have done well but have not taken advantage of activities. It is still an adjustment period. We have some things to work on. But that's more on our end not the facilities. The staff is very helpful. I am very very pleased with them. We had to do a lower cost place financially. If I could just get them to do more activities things would be really good. Overall I am very satisfied wit this facility.

The apartment is really nice and the staff is very nice too. The only thing i would like to see improvement on is the dining area. it's in need of some remodeling and the dining staff could be friendlier. I would also like to see someone trying to be more active during activities too. Other than that, it is a good facility.

I would have to say that everybody that the staff members were excellent. they have such a sweet way about them. they are not only sweet to my loved one, but to everybody. they are very, very kind. They seem like they enjoy their jobs. I wish they did have a few more activities though.

I found this residence to be clean with a fresh scent throughout. Staff appeared to be friendly. Crystal, the Program Director, showed me around, and seemed like a very caring person. There are 3 levels of care at Brookdale San Juan Capistrano. I was told that there is always an LVN on duty. I was able to visit 1 studio and two 1 bedroom apartments. The studio and one of the 1 bedroom apartments were very cheerful because of location of the windows and the view. The other 1 bedroom model did not have an angled wall, and it felt much smaller with a definite closed in feeling. Price for the studio was around $3360, and for a 1 bedroom $4,245 or $4,380. Housekeeping does two washes each week, one for linens, and the other for clothes. The resident may pay for additional washing of clothes, or do the additional laundry herself. The memory care part of the residence seemed somewhat drab. The rooms seemed darker and smaller. I visited during lunch hour, and there was absolutely no talking among the residents with dementia. A little music may have made the lunch time seem more appealing. The one attendant I noted had a smile on her face. I did not eat at the residence, so I cannot judge the quality of the food. A variety of food was offered to the residents for lunch such as roast leg of lamb or veal parmesan. Besides these special entrees, simple things like a hot dog or tuna sandwich could be chosen. Residents can be taken to their medical appointments on two days during the week. There is also opportunities for the residents to go on outings to shop for groceries or clothes, attend a movie, etc. This is the first senior living place I have visited, so I have nothing to compare it to. I am really not sure how many stars it should be given.

My mother is the one who lives there, so I can only go by what she is telling me. They have had a change in management and she says the food quality has gone down since she's been there. She said they don't have as many maintenance people either.

The independent living facilities I like very much. The residents are nice and the managers are nice. However, when my husband has to go over to the skilled nursing facility that they have, I would rate that place a one-star.

We had a very nice move-in experience. There were a couple little things that we didn't care for, but they are slowly changing that. The dining room experience my mother is not happy with, some of the residents are pretty territorial. Other than that, it is a nice place. They are kind of short-handed in the dining room, but they are trying to rectify it.

I can not think of anything specific to say about Emeritus at Camarillo. My loved one has only been there for a couple of month, about three or four now, and he has been fairly happy with the facility thus far.

I just think they need more staff. They seem to be short handed in the memory care unit. There doesn't seem to be enough people to give adequate attention to the residents. They could communicate with the family a little better too.

Very friendly community. Large apartment with balcony very nice. Great food!

Moved my mom in on Friday, which was the beginning of a holiday weekend. This is my first experience with assisted living so I had no idea what to expect. I didn't ask about that level of detail and they didn't offer, so that's really on me. I think I was expecting them to do a little more in terms of transitioning but I'm not sure if that expectation was correct or not. Everyone's there during business hours but after 4 or 5 it's only nurses. It's been almost a week and I'm still figuring things out. A little frustrating but I think this is normal. Everyone is very helpful and nice but I get most of the stuff done during the day (business hours). The facility is nice, the amenities are very nice, and overall I'm happy (albeit still a little frustrating) but I think after we're done working through all the details it will be wonderful.

My father has been living at Emeritus for 6 weeks now and it's taken these 6 weeks for all of us to adjust. The staff is wonderful and attentive to all of our needs. I visited other Assisted Living facilities and I am very happy we chose Emeritus. I would highly recommend it.

We're very pleased with how things have turned out at Brookdale Christown. The staff here are friendly and professional, and they did a fantastic job getting my loved one introduced and integrated into the community. The community itself is clean and well kept, and they have a good amount of activities. The dining room also looks very nice, and the food they serve is good, but I do wish they'd serve a few healthier meal options.

They did a really good job meeting with us and taking the time to show us how things work and what to expect. However, once we got in the follow-up was not what it should have My mother-in-law can not see very well and they could accommodate her situation. For one, the activities are written down on a piece of paper that she can hardly read and she does not get the assistance she should to be able to know what's going on. Also, they have books to read, but no books on CD which would be good for her. There are a few things like that I feel they could do better to accommodate her situation. For the most part though it has been a good experience.

They have been very friendly. Mom was only there at Brookdale Christown for a couple of weeks before she was put in the hospital, but during the time she was there it was a decent experience. Communication can be a little difficult with them at times, but other than that it has been good.

I like the way the staff interacts with residents. They seem to be short staff had only 4 attendants watching all the ladies. Mom is really happy there and they did go up and beyond to get her in.

I really liked this facility. I will schedule a time to visit for lunch with Mom.

I like this place because its friendly, and the people are friendly. You go there and the people aren't doped up, like other places where the people look like zombies. They treat my husband good there.

For the most part they do a good job at Brookdale Christown. We had a few small issues moving in, the room wasn't as clean as we would like, some problems with the phone, things just weren't as ready as we thought they should be. But they worked with us to quickly resolve these issues for the most part. The facility itself is very nice looking and clean, and the staff are friendly and accommodating.

This is one of the places we looked when we were exploring options for my loved one's care. This is probably the place we liked the best though, we ultimately went with a home care agency, at least for now. We liked that the Emeritus seemed to have enough amenities to keep my loved one happy.
