I felt my loved one was not quite ready for the care that they provide at Artis. It atmosphere felt gloomy to me. No matter what type of care you need, everyone is all together. It was just not the right fit, but may be a great fit for some people!

I think the concept at Great Falls is great, but they need to be more specific on who is in charge of what because that is a gray area. If they were more specific in those responsibilities and roles, the facility would run much smoother.

During our loved one stay there, an infection broke out and went throughout the entire facility. There always was COVID, and they had four pods with about 15 rooms in each pod. His pod had COVID, he survived it however some did pass. Our loved one had to go to the hospital and then to a rehab facility, and when he was finished they would not allow him back. We felt that we had been mislead. They did arrange for us to have zoom calls with him during the lock down who had Alzheimer's. Another thing that disturb us was once they said they weren't letting him back in, they told us to come grab his furniture. We grabbed wrong clothes that they bagged up for us, and they did not send him any clothing while he was staying at the rehab facility. We did not get any of his expensive clothing back. In addition they never offered there condolences once our loved one passed. We felt that the food was really inadequate, they served the same things. They said there was options to choose from but that was not really accurate. The activities directors were both so wonderful, and they seem to really care about the residents and getting them active.

For the most part everyone did their job and was friendly. The one person that you didn't get along with there, who was in charge of nursing decided that my loved one needed personal private care nurses, on top of the nurses for my loved one 24 by 7. The nurses on staff were to be taking care of my loved one. I had to let the community know that we would stop having the private nurses on a Sunday, due cost. My loved one died of COVID, and there were a lot of COVID deaths in this community. The health department stepped in to help clean up the community. If I had someone who was blind, I wouldn't take them there. They expect you to pay for private duty nurses, which is outrageous. This is a smaller community, and have enough people on staff to take care of patients. If they can't handle someone who is blind, then they need to say so, before you move in and pay the cost.

Initially, I thought this facility was the cats meow. Initially I was correct. But over time, I found care partners in laundry rooms and behind secluded areas on their phones. This means they were not attentive to patients who had fallen many times, of which my parent was one. Sometimes nurses even found it difficult to determine whether to send them to the hospital. The level of care had gone down considerably in our tenure there. Be aware, be alert and be present on a regular basis to ascertain the level of care is what you want for your parent. Remember that a dementia patient may not be able to give you all details and administration counts on that fact. Also keep your eyes on other patients while you are there. Talk to other patients and definitely find a way to get a video camera in their room.

This facility will not be opened until January 2018. Went to sister location in Boca. Was very clean with no smells. The staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable... they talk about individual activities geared toward each partient... I need to follow up and see what that means. Rooms were pleasant

A new facility, so they are adjusting to operation. Shortfall is personnel experience and activity coordination lacks some. Seems they need more experience to involve all residents in activities and organizing activities.

While looking for a facility for my Father I needed something close to a hospital and that came pre-furnished. This community is clean and they do a great job of offering a wide range of activities. They have things like music entertainment, churches that come in for services, crafts, and bingo. There is only one drawback that is very unfortunate. I don’t feel like their medical staff is up to par. My dad came into this facility with special medical needs and they didn’t follow the specific doctor instructions. Everyone was pleasant here but with his medical situation, it just wasn’t a good fit. I would recommend this community to people who are medically stable.

There have been some issues during her first month that have me concerned. In fairness to Artis, issues will be or have been discussed and it may take some additional time to see if this is "the place for Mom".

My tour of this community was a nice one. I toured it for my mother and her needs. From what I saw the community looked nice and neat. The staff was kind and welcoming. They were very nice to my family and I. It was a good experience.

This is a nice community, and my tour went well. The staff was kind and courteous. My questions were answered, and they were informative as well. The community appeared to be well-kept. From what they showed everything was nice and clean. It was a pleasant tour, but this wasn't the place for my mother.

New place. Nice. Not fully staffed yet. Rooms were VERY small. Nice outdoor area for the patients to walk.

High turnover of staff, use of agency reduces continuity of care, poor communication of needs of the residents from caregiver to caregiver, does have lots of activities, food reasonably good.

1) Overall experience, I have to apologize that my dad was too observant and felt the care for my mom was not to his standard. He was increasingly upset that my mom three weeks in Artis Care, she had to be rushed to the hospital with UTI. I don't know if it could have been prevented, but dad was especially not happy with that situation. 2) Cleanliness of the facility I have to say it was well maintained. 3) Friendliness- I was greeted every time I went to see mom. Don't know how the staff felt about my dad. 4) My mom,[Name removed] is an individual that needs full care- Personal, Physical and Socially. She is totally dependent on my father who is her caregiver. 5) As for the administrative staff, I felt they were trying to appease to my mom's needs, but Artis Care was not the facility that could provide the care my dad felt my mom needed. I know she is a heavily dependent individual of other's care for her. We have a "at-home" care provider that is assisting my dad now. 6) Food Choices- My dad cooks to order for my mom at home. The food that was provided at Artis was basic and dad felt there could be better food choices offered with the amount the residents pay to live at Artis Care. 7) Activities- I was not there enough to say if there was activities offered. My mom needs social interaction around her to witness. She's at a point where she won't physically participate, but we believe she can observe things around her. 8) As for the "Value for the Money". I fully understand that it is a service that is being provided for the families, but there should be an inquiry in the individual person's financial standings.[Amount Removed] for a month of care is a bit too much for my personal taste. I know the workers have to be paid for the service they are to provide, the facility needs funds for upkeeps, the therapist are also have to try to provide some service as well. The issue my dad and I had was that my mom received the basic care when not attended to. I know they had to feed her, change her and transition her from the wheelchair to the bed and back. Thank you for that. But after a week of her being in the facility, we should have received a feedback from Artis Care to let us know that my mom's care was a bit more than they could provide. We would have had spent time looking to then get "At-Home" care instead. My father and I have not spoken in two months since mom was last at Artis Care. He blames me for the loss of [Amount removed]for care he felt was not appropriately given to her, and the lack of attention she personally receives at home. I know this is not your family member, but the families look at Artis Care for that substitution of care the others can't provide because of their physical limitations.

I would not recommend Artis of Somers at this time. During the onboarding process, I was told that everything was included—doctors, PT/OT, 24-hour nursing, housekeeping, meals, and medication management. The onboarding manager who gave me this information no longer works there, and the reality did not match what was promised. Once my loved one arrived, I learned that only a primary care doctor is available on-site. Any other specialists—such as a dentist, neurologist, or podiatrist—must be arranged separately. Housekeeping only comes once a week, and it does not appear that bed linens are changed as often as they should be. Physical therapy has been essentially nonexistent. Communication is another major issue. You often have to send multiple emails or make repeated phone calls just to receive a response. The facility is also clearly short-staffed, and staff disagreements happen openly in front of residents, which is concerning. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this facility at this time.

Use to be [community removed] a caring loving memory care facility. My loved one enjoyed all the activities and staff. Since being sold and now operating as Artis of Palm Coast, the occupancy has gone from 64 to approx. 30. Residents that are wheelchair bound and require more care have been asked to leave, staff including nursing staff have left due to the new cold corporate atmosphere and expectations that go against their core values. The directors are never circulating, music no longer plays throughout. I will say, the 2 nurses that have stayed are exceptional. Activities are at a minimum. My loved one most days is sitting at the dining table doing nothing. It’s turned into lipstick on a pig. Sad to be living in this environment. Not sure what options we have for our loved one. So very upsetting and disappointing. Not at all what they tried to sell us on when they had the corporate meet and greet. It may look like a great place don’t let that fool you!

This is what they said to me after my Aunt who walked in with a walker and left 2 months later in a wheelchair. She fell 7 times there in that time frame. She wanted to get up but no one was there and she fell. They leave them in the “TV” room in chairs and walk away. Nice staff but as they told me “We really dropped the ball” with your Aunt. She was not walking or talking when I took her out of there. She is living back home with an aide and has started to regain some of her strength.

There were some really great aides. Areas for improvement: - the food was terrible. Nothing like what was promised during our tour. - my parent didn't always receive the correct meds. They ran out or forgot to give med on time. - management was not quick to respond to issues and lacked effective communication skills. - residents would sit for HOURS after calling the help button. At some point, my dad will likely need to return to assisted living. We will not send him back to Artis Lakeview

They aren’t as responsible in caring for family. Rooms aren’t cleaned, poor hygiene care, clothing is being washed with everyone else’s, thereby clothes are being misplaced or lost. Clothes are put on with other residents names. There isn’t enough staff to help with residents. They don’t take them out on outings. They’ll tell you anything you want to hear just to have your money. The building is clean, but go inside of the residents rooms, not moped or dusted. They don’t keep up with residents supplies, so that it’s doesn’t run out. This has happened a few times and it’s unacceptable.

The only assistance in this place is having meals prepared which are same over and over each day and hopefully once a week someone will clean your room. They don’t go above and beyond for anyone or anything. If you can’t eat on your own, too bad, problems in your room- too bad. Admin doesn’t follow thru with nothing and the nurses dont know the patients by name - it’s room number. Gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling huh?
