Artis Senior Living

This is a nice community, and my tour went well. The staff was kind and courteous. My questions were answered, and they were informative as well. The community appeared to be well-kept. From what they showed everything was nice and clean. It was a pleasant tour, but this wasn't the place for my mother.

New place. Nice. Not fully staffed yet. Rooms were VERY small. Nice outdoor area for the patients to walk.

High turnover of staff, use of agency reduces continuity of care, poor communication of needs of the residents from caregiver to caregiver, does have lots of activities, food reasonably good.

Use to be [community removed] a caring loving memory care facility. My loved one enjoyed all the activities and staff. Since being sold and now operating as Artis of Palm Coast, the occupancy has gone from 64 to approx. 30. Residents that are wheelchair bound and require more care have been asked to leave, staff including nursing staff have left due to the new cold corporate atmosphere and expectations that go against their core values. The directors are never circulating, music no longer plays throughout. I will say, the 2 nurses that have stayed are exceptional. Activities are at a minimum. My loved one most days is sitting at the dining table doing nothing. It’s turned into lipstick on a pig. Sad to be living in this environment. Not sure what options we have for our loved one. So very upsetting and disappointing. Not at all what they tried to sell us on when they had the corporate meet and greet. It may look like a great place don’t let that fool you!

This is what they said to me after my Aunt who walked in with a walker and left 2 months later in a wheelchair. She fell 7 times there in that time frame. She wanted to get up but no one was there and she fell. They leave them in the “TV” room in chairs and walk away. Nice staff but as they told me “We really dropped the ball” with your Aunt. She was not walking or talking when I took her out of there. She is living back home with an aide and has started to regain some of her strength.

There were some really great aides. Areas for improvement: - the food was terrible. Nothing like what was promised during our tour. - my parent didn't always receive the correct meds. They ran out or forgot to give med on time. - management was not quick to respond to issues and lacked effective communication skills. - residents would sit for HOURS after calling the help button. At some point, my dad will likely need to return to assisted living. We will not send him back to Artis Lakeview

They aren’t as responsible in caring for family. Rooms aren’t cleaned, poor hygiene care, clothing is being washed with everyone else’s, thereby clothes are being misplaced or lost. Clothes are put on with other residents names. There isn’t enough staff to help with residents. They don’t take them out on outings. They’ll tell you anything you want to hear just to have your money. The building is clean, but go inside of the residents rooms, not moped or dusted. They don’t keep up with residents supplies, so that it’s doesn’t run out. This has happened a few times and it’s unacceptable.

The only assistance in this place is having meals prepared which are same over and over each day and hopefully once a week someone will clean your room. They don’t go above and beyond for anyone or anything. If you can’t eat on your own, too bad, problems in your room- too bad. Admin doesn’t follow thru with nothing and the nurses dont know the patients by name - it’s room number. Gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling huh?

I would recommend you not go here. The nursing care was very poor. The record keeping was hurrendous. They served cold sandwiches and cheese curls for dinner to the residents, it was ever night during my loved one's stay. The care staff would even make mention of this.

Give it a long thought, the food was horrible, the meals were processed and not good for the diets of the residence. the rooms were could have been bigger for the amount of money they were charging. I would not recommend this community to others.

i cant believe this place was awarded best memory care in evesham! The facility is clean, food decent but care is fair to poor. there is not enough staff. Many times there is no staff around. some of the staff are excelent, most are fair to poor. management doesnt seem to notice what goes on. many of the care partners are not involved with residents. Activities are mainly for higher functioning residents who are totally independent. They do bring in entertainment.

Not very pleased with this community. My father fell within the first 24 hours of moving in and fell again 10 days later. The staff was not very friendly and they did not inform me when changes would happen with my father's medication. The community is clean and the social director was great!

Sorry to say that there is a lack of care of the Dimentia patients. Dangerous behaviors are tolerated and brushed off as if they are used to it. Doors are locked and staff can not find keys...scary fire hazard. On a positive note...great activities and beautiful grounds.

The staff allowed visitors into the facility even after lockdown orders were imposed, if they insisted. My relative is now in the hospital with COVI-19. There was obviously insufficient training and supervision to ensure the patients' and workers' safety because such breaches should never take place. Someone from the outside necessarily brings it in. There are more than a dozen patients now who have the virus at Artis and several staff, and that will spread further in the days to come. Without testing it's almost impossible now to guarantee safety, since at the outset the staff failed to enforce the lockdown.

I toured Olney Memory Care, and thought it could be a good fit for my parent. The marketing director, [Removed], seemed knowledgeable. She introduced me to [Removed], the Executive director, and I was impressed with her background and experience. [Removed] asked if she could follow up with me by phone in a few days, and I said sure. Never called or contacted me. After several weeks, ready to make the move, I called and spoke with [Removed]. She was responsive to my questions, and said [Removed] would follow up. Again, no word from [Removed]. I email her, and she replies as if we have never spoken previously. After refreshing her memory, [Removed] asks if I would like her to arrange for the nursing assessment. I state that I would, and again [Removed] goes MIA. She reappears several weeks later, no mention of her lack of responsiveness, and says she will call the next day to set up the assessment. And yes, no call, no email, no consideration. This facility is 4 years old and has never been full. At over 8K/month, they are priced at the upper end when compared with the competition. If you are this unresponsive with potential residents' families, what happens after people have invested tens of thousands of dollars? Someone familiar with this facility told me they only want to admit more independent residents. If that's the case, be honest and stop playing with peoples' lives!

Place looked nice. Room was small but had 2 windows. They claimed to have a lot of options for food, but brought two options out to choose from. When mom needed soft food, they didn't bring it unless I was there specifically asking for something. They had to dine with the people from their hallway, which many were loud and overwhelming, and others didn't talk. The care plan was not followed resulting I believe in another infection. I found a resident on the floor, and had to find a nurse. No cameras allowed which hindered the safety of my mom. Slippers went missing day 2. The day I pulled her out, her bathroom was disgusting. The directors were caring and compassionate.

My husband was a resident at Artis for 1 month in 2024. He was diabetic and had severe dementia. We were told when we toured the facility that they serve Mediterranean style food. One meal I saw consisted of a hot dog on a plain white bun with potato chips, baked beans and a glass of juice. Definitely not healthy for anyone let alone a diabetic. I mentioned the food several times but nothing changed. The thing that caused us to remove him was when I went in one morning he was sitting on his bed with just a bottom sheet. I asked a helper where his bedding was. They found it in the locked laundry room clean folded up on a shelf. The first time I visited after a few days I found in his closet a stack of about 8 towels. My husband never wanted to leave his room so I know he didn't take them from other residents. He was miserable and just sat in his room. My son brought him home that day. No one questioned who he was or when he'd be returning him until 2 days later. So A PLACE FROM HELL.

We visited this facility which had come highly recommended to us. At first glance it seemed very sterile and not very welcoming. It was quickly apparent after talking to a few of the residents and touring the facility that the residents were not kept busy, not kept mentally or physically engaged. The residents were sitting alone without any sort of activity nor entertainment. The residents looked sad and depressed. A few of the residence expressed that all they do, all day everyday is sit with other residence or by themselves with absolutely nothing to do. Also, the dining room area was full of flies. In my opinions, I would not recommend this place to anyone that is looking to have a family member well taken care of and not feel that they have been discarded.

Artis came highly highly recommended by the gentleman that was working with me from A Place For Mom. After interviewing different places we decided to send her there. Unfortunately, things went awry and it seems almost all of my mother's winter clothes got taken / stolen/lost. They left her with no winter coat, boots, hat, gloves, scarves, winter pants, winter sweaters, winter clothing. I had hired a company called [removed] to transport my mother to and from doctor visits and the woman who worked for them and who drove my mother told me that on a [date removed] day she went to pick up my mother and my mother had shorts on. And a second time she went to pick up my mother, my mother had no coat on. I was never called and told her clothing was missing, yet they sent her out the door like that. I would stop in and visit without notice and there would be no toilet paper in her bathroom, no hand soap at the sink, and I opened up her closet and there was not one article in the closet, not one hanger, not one pair of shoes. When I inquired where my mother's clothes were they acted like oh they were somewhere around the place. It was a total lie. I moved my mother to Pittsburgh in my son's Ford pickup truck that has an extended cab on it, but upon moving her out of Artis all we needed was the back of my daughter's Nissan Rogue due to most of her clothing being gone. So I have nothing good to say about the place, other than yes, the girls that worked there were nice. And after treating my mother that way, [name removed] would call me and insist that we owed the balance to them but instead I hired an attorney.

Saw residents wet in unchanged depends. I really don’t understand these positive reviews. My mother rarely gets her medications and they are fraudulently mark ed as given. She also is supposed to get her blood sugar checked, which is also fraudulently documented. Unbelievable. Moved her out two weeks ago to stay with us where we can actually care for her. Stay away!!
