The place smells and is actually not well maintained at all. Staffing levels seem inadequate and staff is always different , they cant seem to keep people there.

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for our loved one. Overall I just was not impressed by what I saw here. It wasn't the worst place we saw, but it was not some place that I would have considered placing my loved one.

In all honesty, the photos in the ad are VERY false. Sutton looks nothing like them, nor do the well dressed people with happy faces. In reality, the place smells like one giant foul restroom. The blast after I opened the front door almost knocks me out nearly every time. It is best described as a powerful mix of Lysol and aged human urine. The people sit in the TV room nearly 18 hours a day and they will stare and solicit visitors. One woman asked if she could use my cell phone. Another man asked if I could spare a few dollars. When the head maid saw this she immediately put a stop to the begging. This place looks like a 1 floor motel shaped like a T. A straight hallway with rooms on each side. The rooms are vanilla much like what you would find at a YMCA. The beds US Army barracks spring type. Sit on it and you'll sink into it. Very hard to get up without help. The maids understaffed and thus stressed out. They are invariably moving around doing all sorts of things all over the place, especially when the owner is around. They tell me they receive minimum wage and how under paid they are. My initial impression was that they were more or less asking for a monthly tip in so many words. The door as a combination to get in or out [removed]. But everyone knows it and were trying to escape with no place to go. Erika, the recruiter is a very nice lady. She was very helpful and always answers all questions. The owner, Brian, who drives an expensive car is on the prowl twice a week at his leisure. He is on the ball though. He may not seem that way but he does take care of problems. But he will nickle and dime you out of diaper fees and anything he can get away with. If you present a good argument to Erika, the fees will be expunged. The food is standard and is well managed according to the resident. Entertainment comes in the form of TV movies card games, coloring books. Every week a CD of a concert is played. The same concert. Never a new one. No one pays attention to it. Most are sleeping anyway.

High staff turnover, no RN to dispense meds , they rotate the housekeeping and kitchen staff to dispense meds. Rooms smell of urine and feces.

I researched 5 facilities, and chose Jones Manor, in Bayville,Long Island for my Dad. I thought it was the best place for him, and his dementia issues. Boy, was I wrong on our choice ! Remember you get what you pay for... a lot better places for a loved one for you to consider

I moved my 81 year old mother into Sutton Gardens from rehab. She had a mental condition that caused her to forget short term events. Sutton Gardens is supposed to specialize in mental abnormalities. It was also 15 to 20 minutes from my home depending on traffic which was a major factor in my decision. So I sent her there despite the various cons. The place has a constant stench of urine. It is all over and in everything. The residents were all sitting in a day room with a gloomy look on their faces. They spend 90 percent of their time there from 6am on. The rooms are shared by two people at a cost of $2800 a month plus dippers $150 and medicines. The first week most of my mothers valuables were missing. I gave her $150 because she asked for it. It was gone the first day. So was her food articles and some articles of newly package clothing. Residents from other areas frequently were found in her room looking at her bedding area. I would chase them out and they would mumble some inarticulate words and dirty look me before walking out. One day I brought in 4 pastries from the bakery. I left them in her room while she was in the day room. When I walked her back, the pastries were gone. Things as that were the norm. The staff is underpaid. Many complained that they deserved more than $8 an hour. When they asked for more money, they were denied. New staff were constantly in and out. Some staff stayed on, needing the employment. Those people did a good job. The woman who is in charge of the staff also did a good job. The food is satisfactory to good. I never saw the kitchen area. The dishes arrive in aluminum walkers prepared according to special needs of the individual. Brian is the owner. He is a Jewish man in his late 30's . He is seldom there -- at least when I visited.... In the beginning he told me that he paid medicine bills but he must had forgot that. I received the bills forwarded to my home. About $80 a month -- the part insurance wouldn't pay. He didn't really seem very empathic. He seemed like he didn't want to be bothered but didn't give orders to staff to get things done. My mother fell a few times and complained of pain from falling trying to stand on her walker. She should been helped by staff. But I don't know the exact circumstances. Each time she complained of pain, however, Sutton send her to the hospital and that started other problems for me. I didn't think hospital was necessary as the pain was transient. My mother complained of bullying by other residents. She may had been distorting this as she did have mental problems. Sutton did have activity staff play games and do drawings and read books. She miserable all the time and passed away 4 months into her stay.

My loved one is currently a resident at Sutton Gardens Assisted Living and the experience at this facility has been terrible. The food is horrible. The floors are sticky and there are flies and bugs. The staff is unresponsive and the nurses mostly seem to know very little. I would not recommend Sutton Gardens Assisted Living to anyone.

Our family had a virtual tour with Birchwood Suits which in our opinion was horrible which is which they receive 1 star. The person during the virtual tour told me activities included television and maybe coloring which told me they just want to sit the residents in front of the tv and not be bothered. Rooms were barren looking and lots of shared bathrooms.
This facility has incredibly poor answering services. When they do answer the telephone, which is rare, they lie to you. I called asking to speak with my aunt who was a patient there, and they told me that she could not come to the phone because she was sleeping. They told me to call the next day at a certain time when she would be awake. When I called, they told me the truth - that she was no longer there, and they could not give me any information as to where she was taken, or if she was still living. They were rude, unprofessional, and unempathetic and I would not place a loved one in their care.

Our tour experience with Sutton Gardens was horrible. The facility is all one floor and they have the assisted living residents and the memory care residents all mixed together as one. During the tour there were residents coming up to me very confused and it was just sad and depressing. I think they need to separate the two levels of care.

The woman who led the tour gave a good tour. But the facility was horrible - not a place I would send my loved one to. There weren't many activities. There were no aides/help around. And the residents were just sitting there not doing anything, and not being stimulated.

I was an Occupational Therapist that went to Rosewood twice a week for some of my patients.. I have never seen such a poorly run facility and I am familiar with several that I work put of. Staff here is lazy and most don't even speak english. The management is oblivious to this because they are equally untrained and should not be in an administrator position.

My mom was here until she passed of the covid virus. This place is very small and they have no activities and receive no personal care whatsoever. Cleanliness is non extistant here. They promise you whatever you want to here but never deliver anything .

It was awful. They would put my mother in two diapers and she would soak through and had a diaper rash in just one day. They would leave my mother in a chair in the dining area all day long and when I got there I would find her dirty and wet. She had a semi-private room but when the staff would change her there was no privacy and residents would walk in and out. There were a lot of mice at night. After two months, we pulled my mother out and moved her back home with us.

Pretty run down place. Understaffed and no recreation activities to speak of. Most residents appear over medicated. I asked the lady in the deli across the street if she heard any reviews of this place and she had nothing good to say!

this place does not deserve even one star. The appearance is dull, the staff is nasty, and half of the community have urinaty track infections. The woman in charge comes off friendly but she is dismissive and A phony. There is no quality of care here and have one working elevator. Do not leave your loved one here unless you don't care about that person.
