A Place for Mom has scored Anthem Memory Care with 8.1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 130 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Anthem Memory Care has 769 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.3 out of 5.
Overall I think they do a good job at Willowbrook Place, but there are some areas that I would like to see improvement in. The staff is wonderful, and they really do an excellent job working with and engaging the residents. They're very gentle and tender with all of the people here, I've visited many times and never see anyone get irritated or lose their temper with a resident. They seem very good at redirecting the residents to help avoid stressful situations before they come up. I did have some concerns about dietary issues and the food that they serve, I have experience in the field and saw quite a few things that needed to change, but they were very receptive and accommodating to my suggestions, so that has improved somewhat. I would also like to see them improve their communication practices, both between staff members as well as their communication with families.

This was difficult for us because my loved one is not quite at the stage in her Alzheimers where this is what she needs. They have more of a nursing home environment. This was for people with a higher level of care than we need. She is still mostly independent.

Nice clean facility. New facility. The rooms were small and wasn't really like an apartment, more like a hospital room. They do supply their own furniture in the rooms, so you won't have to move your own furniture in. It is more for memory care, not assisted living.

Most of the staff were really good. However, I think there was a lack in training for the staff. I also think there could have been better communication between the staff. The meals were just average. They didn't ensure my father showered even though there was a schedule and make sure he changed clothes.

My brother-in-law, the resident, had dementia in addition to verbal and physical disabilities. It appeared that most of the residents there were able to take care of themselves at least to a degree. They appeared to be in reasonable shape. Unfortunately, my brother-in-law needed additional help in dressing, eating, and many other activities. I don't believe he had adequate care, but think it had to do more with what highline specializes in, and I should have selected a facility with skilled nursing instead.

Poor communications when leaving messages for the nurses station for a call back. My mother always has missing items. I know that it's difficult to keep up with all clothing. However, I would like a call back at some point within a 6 hour period . Maybe this would help. The staff are all very nice.

My dad had special needs that Willowbrook was not able to accommodate so we had (required be Willowbrook) to hire private 24-hour care at a cost of [amount removed] per month in addition to the [amount removed] cost of Willowbrook. This would not have been feasible for us long term. Unfortunately my father passed away before we were able to determine another solution. I now know we were misled during the sales meeting. We were told that they had expertise in Lewy Body Dementia and that they could accommodate my dad's mobility and incontinence. This ended up being untrue and became an issue with the first week. When I spoke with the director about issues we're having, she said "that's why we call it practicing medicine." This was not the expertise we were hoping to find! We struggled to get clear communication from administrative staff. They did not meet us on move in day to orient us to facility which I now know caused issues later. The director was condescending towards my mom who was going through a really hard time with my dad's decline. She also tried to pass off some miscommunication by saying she had met my sister or me, which was not true. Several times there were issues between the head nurse and hospice providers resulting in my dad not receiving his medication doses. During our stay, they hired a second nurse, who was helpful she was present in the resident area and helped eliminate some communication problems. The daily care staff was very helpful and worked REALLY hard to keep up. They are responsible for caring for residents AND serving and cleaning up meals, which they were not sufficiently staffed for. They were also understaffed overnight - sometimes with one person for 20+ residents - this was particularly concerning when the facility lost power for several hours overnight and the residents were understandably scared and unsettled. The facility is clean. The room was a good size. The cleaning staff, including the person who does laundry, were great. The food was good and they did everything possible to accommodate special needs. I understand that all facilities are not right for all people and my dad was in decline more so than we knew when we moved in.

*Cleanliness and calming nature of site. *The administrative staff is caring and responsive but their directions to staff are not adhered to. *Short on staffing which led to mom not getting proper hygiene care. *Concerning that clients are kept out of their rooms for over 14 hours daily. Led to mom having swollen feet from sitting in wheelchair all day. *Finally removed her after she got a horrible UTI and was hospitalized for over a week. Staff/ nursing didn't pick up on her change. On my weekend visit I thought something was off and got her to hospital. *Food was fair but no variety. Clients would hide food under napkins so cooks wouldn't get upset. *Perhaps I expected more from a Memory Care Facility so I may be off base. An average facility that could use some enthusiasm from staff, activities and food. Nursing staff has to be more hands-on. Just giving medicine out is not enough. Wish them the best.

I really have to stay on them to follow through with the bathing schedule. It has been a constant struggle since I moved my husband to the facility. They just can't seem to follow the two day a week schedule. There's always some excuse. It's very upsetting to me. I've spoken to executive director, nurse and other staff but keeps happening. I try to plan my visits around the days he is supposed to have his bath so I don't get in the way. I call to ask if he's had his bath on his days and that's how I know. Very frustrating!

I found the staff to be warm and friendly. There is a lack of staffing with a high turnover rate during the 2 1/2 months. They had a full capacity which because of staffing, private bath room was neglected a bit. I had to step in to make sure she was showered regularly thus doing it myself on occasion. The meals were decent but no imagination. Same menu almost daily became boring for residents. Had a bad experience because my mom wanted to go to bed around 6pm and staff was instructed to jeep them up until 8:00 pm after visiting hours. The process to get them all into their rooms took an additional 1-2 hours. After my mom complained I visited the facility around 9:30 pm to find my mom and a few other residents sitting in activity room asleep at the tables. I was upset. Brought matter to management who said the addressed it but continued to happen via nurses on duty. The morning activities were really nice but after lunch they mostly just watched TV or slept in their chairs. I had to work evenings so I think it was the same after dinner. I believe they tried their best but without adequate staffing it didn't measure up. Pulled her out after she contracted a horrible UTI that nurses didn't detect until it was almost dire. She was in hospital and rehab for a month. Brought her back but gave up 2 days later when her new roommate and mom didn't gel. I thank the staff for what they provided and hope my input might provide insight. Learning experience for me. I know what to look for as mom's Alzheimer's progresses and I need to place her in a facility. She's home for now and I will do better in the future.

I would not recommend Cascade Creek memory care to anyone. It was a chaotic environment, loud, noisy. The Labor Day weekend contributed to unfavorable medication management and availability. In addition, there were medicinal changes during this transitional period that changed my loved one's ability to take care of herself, needing more help than Cascade Creek could provide. I have heard that their support group is good.

We moved my mom out. My mom lived at Porter Place for 6 months and we decided to move her. I would give it a solid 3 stars. On the pro side, the care was normally good and the staff was attentive and friendly. On the con side, there are a large number of residents there and it can be a bit overwhelming for quieter people. The common area (TV room) is too small for the number of residents. The CNA staff turnover is high so there is a lack of consistency. Guests are asked about their Covid status (as of June 2024) and temperature is taken with a scanner at the desk which is crazy at this point. There is a bit of an institutional feel to the place as opposed to where my mom is now. Depending on the cleaning staff, there is often a urine smell in the hallways. Bottom line, your loved one will receive decent care here but the a large number of residents make it less homey and presents challenges for the overall environment.

When we placed [name removed] there we were promised many things that weren't accurate...at all. Room smelled terrible. Sheets weren't changed in a timely manner. He had zero help in showering and keeping clean. He fell one night and hit his eye on his walker. He wasn't found for 5 hours. The cleaning lady is the one who found him. He subsequently lost the vision in that eye. I brought him home from the hospital and we brought his things home from the facility. Nursing care was spotty. We had to fight to get a urine test for him. He seemed to have a uti...running a temp. It took over a week to just get a nurse in. There is so much more. I understand they have been purchased and things are changing. It's about time. I'm not sure I would recommend it to anyone, but the change hopefully will clean it up.
