I noticed during my tour that the doors on the residents apartments automatically lock for the day after they leave there bedrooms. I did not like that idea for my loved one, it seemed the residents where not given a lot of there own freedom.

The meals need a lot of improvement. There is no thought put in them and they serve rice way too often. Some of the patients are constantly going in and out of other residents rooms that they are not supposed to be in causing a lot of theft. My Mother does enjoy the activities but that's about it.

There wasn't an actual tour guide to show me all around the community. There was a nice person that tried to provide me with as much information as she knew she could. No one followed up with me after this. I didn't really like the way the layout was and the communication was not very good.

My mother is doing fine here at this community. The care staff is great, they are doing a very good job taking care of her. There are some big issues here at this community. At the moment they do not have a director or a head nurse. It is a very nice and clean community. The staff that is here is very caring and trying their best. The food pleasant. Overall I hope they get a director and head nurse real soon.

She had been in the hospital, then she went there for less than a week, then she went back to the hospital again and then back to the facility again, so my loved one has not been there for very long, so I do not know if I could give an accurate review.I think it is a good facility, but they have some changes going on, which I think adds to some of the communication issues.

We toured here when we were looking. We didn't care for this place as much, they didn't have any rehab, and had a urine smell. Their sales staff was also super aggressive. Their nurse to resident ratio was really good though, they had one licensed registered nurse per five residents.

Great place for memory care!!! However, while visiting with my aunt, I overheard one of the staff members say "its like a nursing home in here" to someone else. The staff is great with the residents, but they should hire extra help. I noticed brown spots on her carpet (hopefully housekeeping took care of that) but my mom said its been there a while.

The main thing that I like about Cypress is that it is small and the appearance of the facility is bright and the colors provide a calming effect in the environment. I was told that every employee goes through an 8 hr intensive training for working with Alzheimer's residence only to find out later that was not true. Along with that many of the workers from the med nurses on down do not know strategies with working with Alzheimer's. During my mother's initial 2-wk respite their were activities everyday, but since she has become a resident there is no consistency with activities. Since she has been there they have had two outings and I have yet to see any games or activities done during the day. I find that important things that I communicate with some employees does not get relayed to the appropriate individuals are the ball gets dropped somewhere. I met with the DON and recorded our conversation regarding my concerns to learn later that she had resigned and also the Administrator of the facility is no longer there. I am very hopeful that things will turn around because of the convenience getting to the facility, the size and the decor of the facility are all a plus.

The facility itself is nice, it's always well kept. It's a smaller community and it is only one level, so I feel like there is less chance of Dad getting confused or lost. I also like how it is only one level of care, with a set cost. The initial price was higher than I might have paid elsewhere, but it will not change based on care needs. The issues I've run into have been with some of the staff, when it comes to basic communication and care. When I'd ask questions about my Dad's care or I'd often get the response "I don't know, I'm new." However, they recently got a new director for the facility and I feel like things are improving under her watch. Overall this place has been good, and I feel like all of my issues with the staffing will be resolved before too long.

I was choosing between this one and two others. The lady here was so nice. She had the dog that came in. I ended up not choosing because there was an uncomfortable situation; a lady was wanting to go home and I wasn't happy with the way that the help dealt with that. It seemed like that was indicative with what else would happen there. I just took my sister to double check with me because I wanted her opinion, and she thought the same thing. They were much more affordable; they could do it for $4500 fixed rate. That was the top fixed rate at the time and they wouldn't have charged any more, but I didn't think that they had enough help to really do the things that they said that they could do. It was like they were still developing.

That's a new one, the gal was really nice that showed us around, Sandra or Saundra... she was just delightful, we just loved her but they weren't hooked up with medicare. They were just private pay and we knew enough about it to know that wasn't good because you're going to run out of money pretty quicky. They only had about half occupancy at that time so they just threw them all together until they got enough people to sperate them into different groups and we didn't like that.

There is a great lack of leadership. Many meetings of staff but no changes. The Director may meet the families and patients as they come in but seldom is seen after that. If a problem is brought to her attention, you get lip service only. I have seen many good employees leave because they are treated the same as those, who do minimal jobs. The lpn is the glue that holds this place together. Has never asked for peoples praise but really cares for the patients. Also the constant contact with the families. A few aides go on and beyond their duties to meet the growing needs of the patients. Some aides seem to have a lack of training on how to work with people in memory care. Like talking to them before grabbing them to move them or grabbing the arms without putting their arms under the patient as they move them. Many that work hard get no recognition from the Director only if there are problems. Several family members have written positive comments about the aides but they are never notified.

Willowbrook Place has a group of compassionate caregivers who have the innate ability to meet the residents where they are with their specific needs. These caregivers are able to assist the more challenging residents in a positive, caring manner. However, the following are some serious concerns that I have observed regarding the care of my loved one and other residents: - LACK OF RESPECT AND COMPASSION due to inadequate training. This is evident when some of the caregivers speak to the residents in harsh tones and raised voices often using poor choice of words for people with dementia. For example, "you're NOT supposed to be in there" as opposed to redirecting the resident, "let me help you find your way"; arguing with a resident ("I want to go to the 2nd floor" "there is no 2nd floor...NO, NO there's no 2nd floor"); humiliating a resident (“You wet your pants, now we have to change you”- in a scolding manner); pushing a resident in a wheelchair with their feet dragging underneath the chair and yelling, "Lift your feet" instead of telling the resident that they are being moved and perhaps pulling the wheelchair backwards so the resident's feet are not bent underneath the wheelchair. - LACK OF SUPERVISION AND ACCOUNTABILITY of the caregivers and other staff. This is evident in the continuing inappropriate interactions with residents, and residents’ family members. - LACK OF COMMUNICATION between executive director, other administrative personnel, and residents' family members. This occurs especially when staff changes are made such as not informing families when the nursing position was vacated and was not immediately filled, and when caregivers are no longer employed with the company leaving shifts short staffed. - LACK OF ENSURING RESIDENTS RIGHTS are respected and adhered to as stated in Willowbrook Place’s Residents Rights Policy. For example, forcing a resident to bed or into his/her room to convenience the staff. I have addressed these concerns and others with different levels of management including the facility’s executive director and a Principal in Anthem’s corporate home office. I do not feel my concerns have been taken seriously or given any reasonable consideration since there has been little or no change(s) in the negative behaviors and interactions exhibited by some of the staff.

The experience my family had at Clarity is hard to understand. We came in making it clear that my dad needed a lot of assistance, because he had been in a geri-psyche hospital for evaluation, and had not been walking, but was walking previously. Once the psych evaluation was completed, we journeyed over to clarity at 10:00 Dec 2015. He was very weak but did finally respond in their front hall, but got sleepy again and proceeded to head to bed. They placed him in bed and we were going to hang around but they suggested giving him time to sleep. Because his day usually starts around 11:00 am. So we left him with them after listening to the administration explaining how they as a team could work their magic. Remember from the beginning I explained that he had some real needs. So in 28 hours afters he arrived they called my brother and said you must meet him at valley ranch rehab, we can't care for him in the state he is in. So in less than 3 days my dad had been in 3 places. The following morning at valley ranch, he was up with the physical therapist walking down the hall 75 ft using a walker. Clarity must be a wonderful place if your family member fits perfectly in their mold, even though that is not what we were told. They are friendly, but not transparent about what they can do. I wish my dad could have been there, but please make sure you grill them about the care they think they can provide for your family member, because it was not provided for my dad. They did not even give him a chance to show what he could do in that 28 hours. After several phone calls and discussions by myself, my brother and my sister, and the help frrom Robbie Deaton, who refers families through the company "A place for mom", we are suppose to receive a full refund for all fees and prorated monies. Just remember as you search for a good place for you mom or dad to dig your heels in and even after writing up a care plan as we did, mAke it perfectly c Lear what your family expects in return and how you will hold them accountable if those promises are not fulfilled.

The Director seems nice but she is not available and will lie to your face. On weekends and night they are usually under staffed. Most of workers are care givers not CNA's, also not trained to handle memory care people. Many of these places are in it for money not really interested in care of residents. There are some good workers here which is why we stay.

Most of your reviews are at least 3 or more yrs. old plus monthly prices are much higher than listed. My husband was at Highline Place from [date removed]. For the first yr. his care was adequate, and he enjoyed all the activities. They started loosing their good, experienced care givers because their pay isn't very good. Replaced by more inexperienced staff that didn't go out of their way to interact with residents, just did what they had to do. Activities became more limited, ones listed on the monthly calendar didn't always happen. Nursing and therapy staff communication on how he was doing was very limited, especially as his Alzheimer's progressed. Emails, questions were not always answered, always needed to ask for a care conference every 3-4 months. Decided his needs were not being met and moved him to another memory care center where his care was so much better.
