Very clean building. Really love the marketing lady. We really like the nurse makes you feel very comfortable and she is really friendly. Care staff is really good. Haven’t had a very good experience with the older lady that is apparently in charge of billing. She doesn’t seem to know what she is doing. She doesn’t return emails or phone calls. The new lady that is in charge of the building now isn’t friendly at all. One day I was in there and the way she was talking to the nurse was not professional . Hopefully they will get someone that knows what they are doing.

My Experience

I lived at Emerson South Collins for almost one year and my experience at this facility was terrible. Every time that it rained, it rained in my 2nd floor apartment. They agreed to leave Sunday dinner at my apartment and I agreed to pay $5.00 for the service for the next six months. They delivered it only three times. The dining staff had a terrible attitude, except for [name removed] whom they made head of dining service. Perhaps things are better now. The quality of the meals was poor. Turkey pot pie sounds great until you ate it and it had few vegetables and was bean based with two pieces of meat and plenty of beans in it. The deserts were minuscule In size. I hear that they have cut back to two meals now. The social director quit. They asked a staff person to head up the position after 5 months and the program went from none to bad. The staff are pleasant. [name removed], in maintenance, is like a bull in a China shop. He came to fix a leak under my bathroom sink. I guess he spilled something under the sink and used my good matching hand towel and took it. After their trying to replace it with an inferior quality of towel, I left with the front desk the matching cloth. It disappeared. After 2 months, I replaced it and they did give me rent credit for it. Next, [name removed] came in and thinking the water was coming in from a bad air-conditioner. I walked in and he was cleaning up the broken pieces of 5 out of 10 ornamental glass cat figurines which my daughter had given me for my birthday. There was no way to replace them and so I was just out. I then again told him that the water was coming from the window. The window was never fixed. I told the manager that I felt that they had broken the contract and that I was moving out. The new manager was kind enough to not charge me for two months rent.

POOR MANAGEMENT DECISION - food - nourishment

Yesterday, the management decided that it would be a reasonable, compassionate thing to do to inform their elderly residents that their DINNER MEAL will be eliminated in 4 FOUR days. These residents pay over $[removed] a month and all of the contracts they signed say meals are included. This is one of the strongest marketing points of the community. How can you eliminate a dinner meal when there are no stoves in the units. Also, over 65% of the residents do not drive nor have transportation. This is assinine and unbelievable. I get corporate bottom lines but do a utilization study, you will see that breakfast would make more sense. But dinner, for elderly folks. Doesn't make sense. I found this community from A place for mom, and you all should remove them from the search engine.

When things don't go according to plan.

My mom had a fall at Emerson and broke her hip. After that, she declined and passed away a few weeks later. I had to pay for the following month, even though I gave Emerson a heads up about the situation. There was no flexibility with management at all. I was very unhappy with how they handled things.

Semi-independent living

I think that it needs to stop being promoted as an active adult lifestyle facility because it is not. It is between a nursing home and assisted living. A lot of the residents here need way more care, I would say about 65% of them. I feel like part of sold a bill of goods. I would encourage people to do lots of research for wherever you go and do not go by yelp or all of the other reviews, because a lot of times they ware not done by the individual who is actually living there. The website shows that it was remodeled but it was not, only one part was and that was due to ice damage.

Rate increases

They “charge” points for things. 4 for giving meds, another point for having an inhaler. 2 more points if they have to check a blood pressure more than once. A MONTH. Another point for communicating with the doctor. I have no idea about the nurse practitioner or PA that’s there. Was never offered as an option to us. And 2 more points to communicate with home health. This is for a resident that tends to her own hygiene, makes her own bed, walks to kitchen to pick up her own meals and then returns the dirty dishes. Sound like she’s a level 2 to you?

Moved out after 2 months

Moved my parents out after 6 weeks of lockdown during Covid (no residents had Covid, employees did), meals skipped during the lockdown. Told several times that my parents were not "on the list to receive food delivered" The entire facility was on food delivery due to Covid. Facility ran out of food! Staff would walk in to check vitals on my healthy parents 3 times a day, starting at 6:30 am! Lack of respect for privacy. Our family spoke to the administrator multiple times. They were apologetic and nice nothing changed. Don't be fooled by the beautiful pictures on their website. The food is the worst! ALWAYS cold and many times unrecognizable. We showed the food to one of the administrators who responded, "well I'm not surprised." Poor mismangement by admin. Meadows borders on elder abuse because of overly strict "corporate" guidelines to keep residents in their rooms at all time, not even allowing them to check mail. The Haven in St. George - locally owned and no corporate rules.

I would not recommend unless personal control is had

We did not have a good experience with this community. The staff members were not encouraging so she never got out of her bed. The convenience of the facility was good, the problem was that they kept changing personnel and every time I got familiar with the owners and staff they would sell it to someone else and it would all change. We also had a lot of issues with communication. I would advise people looking here to strongly maintain control of your loved ones money and not just turn it over to them.

Whitcomb House

Whitcomb House could improve on communication surrounding my father's care. They did a poor job with managing on any type of health needs. My father's own doctor has said she is frustrated with the lack of communication on the part of the community staff. For example, during the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been a nightmare. My father who is blind and deaf has been unable to leave his small room for several weeks. He was stationary for so long it was becoming detrimental to his health. They have not done a good job with communicating about about what they are doing to prevent the spread of Covid-19. They have only recently required staff to wear masks or protective gear; other communities have did so a while ago. I ask them to check on him and they say they are, but based on what my father is telling me, they do not seem to actually be doing so. We are also not allowed to see him at all and they have done little to accommodate for social distancing guidelines. Even before Covid-19, I had to request they come in and clean his restroom as they were not actively cleaning it when it needed. If you cannot advocate for yourself, it is not a good place.

Bad place

Bad experience!! I had my mom there recently for 3mos and she died while lying on the floor. She had called for help by pushing the nurse button and nobody came. They found her hours later. This senior living is not a safe place and staff is non caring and also management. They have a nonchalant attitude. State needs to come and investigate this senior facility.

This community was great in the beginning. However, over time the customer service, resident care and communication from their management has decreased tremendously. Unfortunately this facility does not care about the residents, only their bottom line for profits. I would not recommend this facility for any family looking for a safe and secure place for their loved one. Currently does not have a full time director, nurse or receptionist which all positions have been filled with temporary and inexperienced people. Resident and facility staff turnover is also very high for these same reasons. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else in the area. Beware of this place !!!!

Management not accountable

Things have been missing from my room. When my family comes for holiday celebrations and makes reservations the staff are not accommodating. Some staff members fight with me. They forget to give me my medication sometimes. Things get very stressful and confusing when they do renovations which is often. Temporary staff from temp agency do not show care or concern. Some Regular staff do show care and concern though. New management not sensitive to needs. There have been 4 memory care directors since I’ve been here- 1 year 10 months. No accountability shown they say ask someone else or they say they don’t know. My room is very very hot all the time and I can’t control the heat setting. The entertainment is excellent. The residents are friendly. The family members are friendly. This is a real review.

Administrator is rude! Doesn’t even know her families by name or sight most of the time. I have seen her treat her workers with disrespect. There must be a better way.

This was a very bad fit

Legacy Ranch Memory Care Community was not a good choice for our parents. We decided to move our parents after only 1 week there because it was more of a skilled nursing care atmosphere as the residents were in a more advanced stage of dementia and there was not any real interaction whatsoever.

Not impressed with how they handled things!!

I am not impressed and actually very upset with how things went at this community. My mom wanted to try out this property before she had made the final decision to move in for a seven day test trial it was going to cost us over eight hundred dollars. Well after the first night there she had decided it was not for her and she would not be moving in at all. The staff would not refund her any of the money when she spent only twenty four hours in there. I think that is absolutely sneaky and not right. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
