I visited informally awhile ago and thought it was a nice facility, but did not follow up with any in-depth contact.

A loving, clean facility. Perhaps just not the right fit.

I think it depends on the level of care that your loved one needs, and acknowledging that prior to being a resident of the facility is very important. It has taken a lot of work to get the quality of care I expected for my loved one.

My Review of Spring Village at Stratford

The community is very neat and clean, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall the community is a good value for the money. I think their assessment could have been more thorough and transparent.

Some good things/Food not so good

Visited my Aunt at Spring Village Stratford CT. Things are changing here. It’s dated and the place does not appear as clean as it once was. I visited during lunch and was not impressed with the food. My Aunt told me of a recent change with kitchen staff that residents have been talking about. Since this change, she said the taste, selection and quality of food has not been the same. This to me is concerning, if you’re going to have a change of staff in your kitchen, you would think management would hire people with the proper skills and experience to provide the same quality and presentation that their residents have been used to. I hope this improves or else I think residents/families should escalate their concerns to the management staff. My Aunt did say the Activities program keeps her busy and she’s happy with that. Overall, I am comfortable having my Aunt there but please, tidy up, maybe update your decor and please, feed your residents food you’d want your loved ones to eat.

It's not cheap and they charge anytime food is brought to the room. I would recommend my mother in law loves it there

Spring Village at Dover

There is a LOT of turnover in the staff and management. They have had 3 directors in one year and same for head of nursing. With this much turnover, things that should be done tend to fall through the cracks. They have a hard time keeping care staff and seem to be short staffed frequently.

Pricing is a-la-carte and maybe that's standard, but it wasn't explained up front. I would still recommend, but something to learn and watch out for. We picked them because of the location.

A nice place for my grandmother to be a part of. She enjoys the environment and the care she receives. Her only complaint is the food, and occasionally the cleaning of her room could be improved. Overall, we’re satisfied with the support and services provided.

Understaffed

[name removed] was amazing. She connected me to several facilities. She also helped me get information about a VA benefit. The facility sounded great . I moved my mom and everyone was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately they are under staffed and have difficulty meeting my mom's needs. The cleanliness is average, the food is ok. The staff are working hard and very friendly.

On the whole, it is a decent, clean facility. There is a problem at times in getting help to use the facilities. The food choices need to be better. Menu looks like a school menu. Not very appetizing.

Brand New, Ask Questions

I have concerns and I will share those concerns. Some of the concerns I'm shocked about are: the specialty doctors are supposed to come once a month, and they don't visit my dad. There isn't enough staff in general, and apparently they use the nursing students from the local university; once a resident gets used to a caregiver then they switch and you don't know. My loved one's significant other does a lot of things the staff should be doing. The portions were small to begin with and they become even smaller. We are able to send food via amazon due to the pandemic. My loved one has lost quite a bit of weight. This could be COVID related or economy. The sales person was also the activity director and she did everything. She recently left. One of the resident contracted COVID from one of two employees. They ended up on lock down for December and January. This is a newer community.

It was very close to my house. Hospital feel throws me off. The place needs quite the facelift for the $$ paid to live there ... [name removed] was great. Don't know how my mother would interact with so many residents sitting around the way they were in the common area. Although there are 12 residents that are on the "level" my mother is.

We toured The Gardens when we were looking for a place for my loved one. It's a nice place, but it seemed too small. I also don't think that my loved one liked the location. Overall, it just was not a good for for us.

We ended up moving to another community which afforded us a medical model, Atria Stratford is a social model. We were promised a lot of things that they were not able to provide. The care staff, recreation staff were friendly and tried their best. We mainly had issues with the director who was very arrogant and not understanding of the care we needed, he was all about the business end.

As it was at all of the places we toured, it was clean, and the staff is quite pleasant. We visited in the morning, a little before 10:00, and people weren't up and about yet. I did like that they had a chef there, and the food was not quite as institutional as a lot of the more corporate places.
