Adequate

They were very responsive. If I had a complaint they addressed it. The best I can tell, they were taking care of my loved one. There was one instance where they parked my loved one in a wheelchair in a common area for hours at a time. To the best of my knowledge that didn't happen again after I addressed it. Visitors were not allowed, so I had to see my loved one through the window. Both Hospice and Deane Hill Place told me I could be with my loved one in person when she was dying. And they never called me. They only called the next morning.

I have been here for 8 months, I feel it is not fair to try and rate my experience for this reason. Legacy at Willow Pond has had a whole new team and they are doing well to make a new home for me and others. Some things will be changing as time goes and I was prepared for this when I came. So far my experience has been good and I look forward to a future here at Willow Pond. Check back in a couple years and

I really like it here, but a change to the website has pretty much excluded anyone who is looking for an independent lifestyle. Heritage Oaks is NOT an assisted living facility, officially, but it is touted as one online. I may have to seek another living space.. I have questioned why this is, but received vague and incompete answers.

We were able to try the food when we visited and it was good. The people we met were nice and knowledgable. The community seemed clean. This community did not offer an apartment for one person. The closest they had was a room with a shower. We did not think our loved one would be comfortable here.

If Resources are Limited, Dean Hill Place is Worth Consideration

My husband resides here. The best features of Deane Hill Place are the really spacious rooms and the pleasant garden. Mediocrity noted in the following: activities and meals. Negative rating: Laundry and Level of Care: I wish to clarify the above rating. Level of Care: I believe this would improve if the facility made an effort to retain the better-qualified personnel, reduced the number of floaters/Agency temporary personnel who often distributes medications and does not know the residents' medical history and medicine, and finally, released from duty those employees who have no real calling for this type of services. Meals: For the first month of my husband's residence here, water was not offered. Residents had a choice of juice, tea, or coffee. I addressed this with the manager of Memory Care. Now water is offered to all residents, at all meals. This is especially important for residents whose immune system is delicate, need regular infusions, and, in general, because good hydration fosters better health. Desserts are always offered, not fresh fruit. Mechanical meals, special thickening for juices, finger food, or regular meals are served according to residents' needs. Hot meals are well balanced. Activities: There is an effort to present a variety activities, but these are not geared towards the less able residents. Laundry: This is a problem because items are lost. Some residents have chosen to pay for a private laundry service. P.S.: There is a non-refundable entrance fee of $1,500.

The Amerisist was a very small community and my grandmother was used to a larger home. The rooms were overall very small and were due for a refresher. This community was undergoing a transition of owners when we visited. I did not like the way this community was set up. They have many small pods that hold about twenty people. They shared a common area and you spend all day with these people including at meal time. It had a nice atmosphere, however we were looking for a place where she could have her own apartment.

Direct care staff outstanding!

Mom has been at Greenfield for a year now. Things were going well, but once mom went into the hospital and returned all went down hill. She needed a little more help and I understand that pricing will go up but $2000 a month is ridiculous. They have a new director since we first moved in. Not as efficient and passes the buck to another staff member when she is asked a question. Room/care rates are comparable but the add ons like medication management and incontinence care are high and unreasonable. When you are away in the hospital they will not deduct care cost days until you exceed 14 days out. That is not fair as they are charging you for 14 days of services/food/care that you have never received. Doesn't take much for billing to figure out per/day costs and deduct them. On the other hand the direct care staff is very kind and loving towards the residents. I cannot say enough about the aides, nurses and house keeping. These people truly like working with the elderly and are very compassionate.

Cost of food and service.

I am generally pleased with Brookdale, My only complaint is the food. I do not believe what is being served is worth the cost we are charged. Many times what is on the menu is not available. We are told they have run out of the items. Needless to say, this is not acceptable. The waite staff is not very competent. A new head of the staff has been hired and I have faith that many of the complaints will be addressed.

BROOK DALE REVIEW 2016

I am very pleased with my move to Brookdale. My apartment is adequate and very bright. The people are very friendly and helpful. I am still getting settled and have not been able to attend as many of the events which I would like to. i hope to be able to do so in the future. The only concern I have is the cleaning person assigned to my apartment. She is very young and it will take time for her to learn how to clean well.

Cost of $1800 for a respite 10 days was high. If they said for $2000 she can stay a month would have been a better promotion. Told about the $2000 month cost after we left. Based off of the $1800 per week, the monthly cost would have been $7200.

It had a bunch of different buildings. Mother would have to go next door to another building to get her physical therapy and we thought she wouldn't like having to leave the building for that. All the food was in another building too. It was a perfectly nice place but we know she would much prefer everything under one roof.

We feel fortunate to have found such a nice place

Outstanding in every way for an independent Senior. I would give it 5 stars, except for the category of Care Services, which are kind of just "ok," and I found I needed to supplement them with non-Gables services. The grounds, rooms, and dining room are beautiful and elegant, and the staff is the friendliest I have ever encountered. And we got a terrific value on a room with a less-than-optimal view, which didn't matter to my relative that doesn't like to look outside.

My experience. Not recommend

The grounds are nice looking and there's a homey feeling in central foyer area. Potential improvements are many. Some of the rooms are extremely outdated and need of remodeling. There are hallways that have unpleasant odors. The aides are stretched therefore care is not consistent. The food is mostly low quality and usually not at proper temperature. Residents are typically without utensils and are waiting. Small plastic cups with fruit punch/lemonade given at meals. These frequently are spilled due to being lightweight. Chairs in dining room too heavy to move. I'm sorry for all this negativity but there is so much to say. I believe they try to provide what residents need but changes are out of reach for workers. Again, I believe workers are doing the best they can with what they face.

Room for improvement

The staff was fantastic before she got there but then it kinda died off once she was living there. They told us they were ordering her a ramp before she arrived and it's been over a month and it's supposedly had to be ordered again. So I stopped asking. The other day we brought her to the doctors and she came back right at the end of dinner and I heard the kitchen staff yelling at her that she had already eaten and if I hadn't intervened they wouldn't have fed her. It's clean, she gets her needs met for the most part, but she is a memory care patient and I literally had to call and ask them to bring her down to the activities because she doesn't remember to go on her own. The food is good; fresh and hot. She never complains about that. The size is like a large room with a kitchenette.
