Price increase

Just so you know, they have been bought out by another company and are raising the price based on the patients needs. The extra to be paid in April will be anywhere for [price removed] a year. We have been there 1 year and the rent was raised once but this extra charge is going to make us leave because I can not afford it.

Better Communication from Administrative Staff and Recruiters

Make sure you understand what the facility can and cannot do for the residents as far as medications and behavior control. They could improve by having better communication of whether they can address your concerns or not. The care staff (nurses, CNAs) were very good.

Heritage Oaks review

The area is a bit sketchy....there is a food lion next door with a security guard at the door. There are activities but the residents seem bored and not very social. The food is hit or miss. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it just isn't. I just think it lacks the energy that I've seen elsewhere, but it's not a bad place for the money.

Overall recommend

The experience is mediocre, not great but not terrible. There are some staff that my parents love and others that clearly are in the wrong business. Some things, such as meals, have improved slightly in recent months. There is a lot of turnover with dining staff.

Food is terrible but some wonderful staff

I have a family member at the Gables. Management companies are in and out like revolving door at Gables. Can’t keep kitchen staff because of poor management. Food is overall not great but sometimes includes inedible shoe leather meat. Many fried food options, which is terrible for anyone much less elderly folks. A big, consistently supplied salad bar would be much better. This is not the fault of kitchen staff. It is mismanagement. Management also broke resident contracts and now does not provide 24-hour staff presence. On the positive use, excellent aid service available and some wonderful support people. It’s clean but not fancy. I think it’s comparably affordable but haven’t checked lately. A Place for Mom really needs to visit the Gables and suggest improvements before they continue recommending it.

Nice Community with room for improvement.

We like the location and the overall facility. Improvements can be made in overall communication on when there are Drs appointments and outcomes. In addition, we were sold on the fact that beds would be changed and rooms cleaned every week. There has been several times that I had to change bedding and clean the bathroom.

Bug changes hoping for improvement

There are some really positive things about a place for mom. They have an in-house physical therapist who is terrific. They have several staff members who go above and beyond. There has been a big change in the Director at the facility and it looks like this is going to be a very positive change. Right now we need some time to See how everything works out. We are encouraged that the new Director is extremely committed and motivated to making things right at Garden Plaza of Florissant.

Clean and cheery

The facility itself is always clean and cheerful. There has been a lot of turnover within the kitchen, health aides and nursing staff. The food menu is not geared towards the age of the residents and does need some work. They do offer alot of activities and social events which helps residents to stay connected.

Current Resident

Not entirely good. Management is poor at communicating . Turnover in staff is primarily due to pay. Food has improved dramatically under new Dietary Director and servers are very good. Activities are good in general but can change with little notice. Need to limit to independent residents who have mobility and are mentally alert.

Review for Legacy at Fairways

Don't move here. The neighbors are great. Main issue is meals and the way they are administered. When we were looking for a place this had a villa available. The issues that we are having now started after we moved in. Changes were made to the meal service. Some cooks left and they ha trouble hiring new cooks and servers.

There has got to be better places out there.

My sister has come out of her funk and is able to enjoy herself. If it weren't for the activities, I think we would have to move her again. They had a bus to take the people places but broke down some time ago and hasn't been fixed. We have had to hire other people to take care of my sister because of their lacking.

Going downhill

This used to be a great senior living facility. It is now under new management and is awful. We were thrilled with the management company that held a meeting in October to explain what they would bring to the facility and then "poof" they disappeared and Willow Ridge came on the scene. They are new and do not have their act together. Check out the reviews on their other communities...awful. We are currently looking for another place for our parent.

Review for Legacy at Cranberry Landing

Initially they said they had all kinds of activities and sold it as a wonderful, safe place. The staff kept changing and they never came through on their promises. The care staff originally was good, but that started to cycle through, and the younger staff was not really interested in the people. They did have one loving and caring older long standing staff member who was very kind to my loved one. No one got Covid during the lockdown so that's a positive!!

It's a lovely, homey facility that doesn't feel like a hospital. The rooms are beautiful and obviously well cared for as are the grounds. We think it's a decent value for the money. I think the dietician should come and spend a couple of days in the Memory Care unit. I realize getting dementia patients to eat is a challenge. Chicken nuggets would be a better option than chicken wings, more green cooked vegetables are needed, tuna fish and crackers would be a better alternative to hot dogs; especially due to the potential for chocking. In all, I do recommend it as a facility, or our mother would not remain there.
