I placed my mother in there before covid hit. It was not my first pick but it is a place for older people to die. The staff is nasty, mean and not caring. The Director never returned calls and we spent more time in emergency room because they did not want to take care of her. Because of them being short staffed.

My dad passed away on the 18th and I cleaned out his apartment 3 days early before the end of the month, turned in the keys and followed all of their instructions. We were promised by the bookkeeper we would not be charged January rent. Low and behold, yesterday rent was debited out of my dad’s account causing all kinds of problems! I called and the Executive Director rudely told me she was too busy to deal with this and it was not her job. It was the job of the home office. I asked for a name and a number of someone in the home office to call and talk to about it and she would not help me. My dad liked living at the Villa but dealing with the place when your parent dies is a nightmare.

Things started out good, but they have gone through a series of different ownership. Apparently they're in financial difficulty and have cut all their services. By the time we left, I would rate the dining room at poor to fair. Cleanliness was very poor. My family member's contract included weekly house cleaning, and it reached a point that the only way he would get it is if I called and demanded it. At one point, they went three weeks with no one coming in to clean up or change linens. The facility had been redecorated, and it was not a homey atmosphere. All the carpets came out. They put in phony hardwood floors but never cleaned them. They always looked dirty. They downgraded pretty much everything, including the staff and the staff's pay. So the majority of the people left. And they were left with just a skeleton crew. It just go the point that it was not a good idea for my family member to stay there. When we left, they had a 30% vacancy rate, which is huge for nursing homes nowadays.

There is a lack of respect for elderly people at Atria Penfield. I didn't see any aids in the hallway caring for people, the only people I saw were staff with the medicine carts. I ended up moving out because of this reason. I would not recommend to others looking.

The staff members are very friendly and the community is very clean. Everything there was very good except for the food, especially for the money that is being spent. For breakfast you would go down to the counter, they would give you a coffee and a snack bag that had either a cereal box or an apple. For lunch you would do the same thing go down to the counter and they would give you a snack bag with either a ham sandwich, PB&J, or a turkey sandwich. For dinner, you were able to sit at a table in the dining room where you can order a few things off of a menu. One night they had chicken parmesan which I ordered. I got a slab of chicken with cheese that was not melted. The cooks there are not good at all, they need to be paid more so they can make better food.

In the beginning the food was great, but then it just went downhill. For the activities you have to sign up and the sign up sheet is on the first floor so if you live on any other floors you will probably miss singing up. We think that the overall management needs to be looked at, our loved one was only there for a short time and the seniors were just not treated like adults. The atmosphere was very chaotic and it seemed understaffed. the activities and dining hall was in the basement which caused our loved one to get sick from the moisture. It was not our first choice, just seemed to chaotic and not well managed.

We have had very limited experience with this community, we paid all of our fees up front, and our loved one had very server onset of dementia. He was only there for a week when we were told he needs to be sent to another facility. During that week at the new facility he came down with severe pneumonia, and had to be transferred to a third facility. He was only at the third facility for a week and then he passed away. We still have not received our loved one belongings and we just have a vast negative feeling towards Travanse .

I’ve seen people go into the memory unit confused and worried, and the next day they’re zombified with big gashes on there forehead. Like [name removed] for example. They don’t know what they’re doing. I also witness a lot of bullying here. Beyond all that, the list goes on. The amount of things I have seen here is crazy. It’s scary speaking out, but don’t come here. It’s a scam. Pay 7k a month and still have to pay more for assistance at an assisted living. This is not even the tip of the iceberg. Can’t wait for my mother to be out of this place.

I note that no reviews have been posted since 2015. There is a reason for this. The place has definitely deteriorated since then - both in terms of physical maintenance (grounds poorly kept - and no air conditioning!). Short staffed. No actiities. Terrible food. The second floor, housing persons with very significant cognitive impairment, reeks of urine when the door is open. This place cannot be recommended.

This place started out great at first. However, with staff changes it has gone completely down hill. Patients in memory care are not regularly changed or bathed. Disgusting. The aids have little to none training in talking to seniors and don't seem to care much at all about their well-being! I would keep looking. For what you pay, you are only getting meals and a locked building.

I would not recommend this facility to families looking for an assisted living facility for their loved one. Facility is not secured which means that strangers can walk in off the street and roam hallways. There is no receptionist to greet visitors. There is only a sign-in visitor roster which allows strangers to have access to names of residents.

We chose The Villas in part because of the dinning room and meal plan, which is part of the monthly fee. I have pages of documentation from my mother listing all the the times they run out of food, are rude to the residents or simply ignore them. They are frequently out of things, such as cookies or bananas. If you ask a different server, sometime it will be provided. Are some of the servers simply too lazy to accommodate the residents request and say "we're out of that"? The servers will walk away when a resident is try to order something. My mother has waited 25 minutes after being seated to be acknowledged or offered a beverage. These complaints have been brought to the attention of the management but nothing has changed, I have contact the corporate office, and received no response. very disappointing.

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO LEGACY AT MAIDEN PARK IN GREECE, NY. My husband was there for 3 months. I missed 4 days out of 3 months of going to see him. He eloped 2 weeks after his admittance and again shortly thereafter. The facility advertises "safe and secure". So far from the truth you can't believe! The second time he eloped was at 11:26 PM in 20 degree temperatures. How long did it take before he was brought in? Your guess is as good as mine. I have had conflicting timetables! We have been refused to see the tape which tells us someone is "hiding" great information. Two employees were sent out to find him of which they reported him "running". Can you picture a 90 year old man that walks with a cane "running"? When he finally was brought in, it was reported he was cold and chilled. Administration said "he was warmed" and "OK". They also used the excuse "it was change of shifts" and that is why it took longer to go after him. Of course I was not aware of any of this until 9:00 AM the next day! Why wasn't he taken to the hospital to be checked out, not even his Doctor was called. Due to neglect of "Legacy at Maiden Park", Administration called a meeting between them and our family the following Friday. They "kicked him out"! Their words were "he needs a higher level of care than what they can give him". On April 8, 2018 (Sunday after last elopement and meeting), I with other family members and friends, went to visit him only to find him very lethargic and behaving abnormally. We had difficulting waking him, he was walking very slow, his speech was slow and didn't make sense. We asked for a nurse to come and then we questioned what meds he was given. She stated she was a nurse, but we later found out she was only a med tech. (Earlier that day we asked for him to be checked for a UTI.) At that point we asked that an ambulance be called because no one there was doing anything to evaluate him. And this is called "memory care"? NO WAY !!! Alzheimer residents do not need nursing care, they need love and protection that Legacy can not give. He is surely not the first person to elope from there, there have been several elopements, and as of recent another resident has twice. Even the police were called on this person to bring them back inside On another note, a couple weeks after moving in, his shower was not draining properly. It was growing mold around the end where water was standing. One of the "Nayas" reported this, to whom, I do not know. Nothing was done. A different person called the "head of maintenance" of which he checked this out. He said the only way to fix it would be to replace the shower because the pitch was not toward the drain. As of April 29th nothing was done to fix this problem. I believe everything happens for a reason and this was a blessing in disguise because now we can be reassured that he is in a facility where he will be safe and properly cared for.
