I toured this place amongst 7 other places. I really liked the high energy atmosphere and the social interaction. They have an ice cream area where residents can get ice cream at almost any time. The staff was great. They knew the names and spoke to each resident. They seemed to be very patient and good with the residents. The cost was the highest of all the places I looked at ($175/day). They did not accept my father because he was an exit seeker and they were afraid he would be trying to exit out the emergency door. I was taken aback by this because I had explained with great detail the situation with my Dad. This is the very reason he needed memory care instead of assisted living. I'm not sure they should be called memory care if they are not equipped nor can handle these type of things. After all isn't that what memory care is for???

Overall a nice place

My loved one stayed here for a brief time, and except for one specific problem they were a nice place overall. The facility was clean, the staff were friendly, and the services they provided all seemed good. However, my loved one had some specific dietary requests and they were not willing to work with her on those, and we had to find somewhere more accommodating in that aspect.

Very nice setting; within a nice community; able to walk the neighborhood without fear. Presentation - entrance - very inviting; front doors needs some sprucing up Interior - in desperate need of rehab. Wallpaper peeling from walls at almost every seam. Facility built in 2000 but doesn't look like owners have taken an active participation in the upkeep. Staff - Ivy Sharpe - pleasant and appears to have the best interest of the residents at heart. Food - did not have the pleasure of partaking of a meal but Ivey states the residents do not have any complaints. This would be an option but not my first choice.

Initially we had a lot of problems getting her in there with the paperwork.

Initially we had a lot of problems getting her in there with the paperwork. Then we've had a lot of problems with heat in her room sometimes it's not working, though I am told it is being fixed now. The food is excellent. Certainly the administrative part could use some improvement. They progressive disclosure everytime I turned around it's something else to be done. They do have a lot of dementia patients and especially in the dining room that can complicate things. They could maybe have some separated dining.

Not A Good Experience

It was like my dad was in school. They kept writing him up and I felt like they were just making things up so that I would move him. Eventually it got to the point where they said he couldn't stay there anymore because they thought he needed a different level of care. Where he is now, at Sunrise, he is so much better! The director told me that all the staff were intimidated by my dad and they just want to work with the litte, cute old ladies and that's not right. There are all kinds of residents and if you have to deal with the men, then you have to deal with the men!

Adequate but not in love with Legacy.

Our father has been independent and on his own for many years so this has been a substantial life style change. He is not happy and wants to leave. We were lead to believe that this was a social environment with several men who lived there, but that is not the case. He has not been able to make many friends and there is only one day per month that a "men's group" meet. We had the event director visit with us, and she agreed that she is struggling to get people involved in things. If you like it quiet where your neighbors stay in their room, then this is the place for you. There is a furnace in each room which is great because he can control the temperature. The problem is that the sound of the furnace makes a bang noise when it starts, and a vibration while it's running. No one can seem to fix this ongoing problem. It has affected his sleep. There is a digital picture show on the wall of one of the hallways showing the events that are coming up for the month. The seniors would have to stand there for several minutes to read through the show. In our opinion this is not a great idea for seniors. We are very pleased with the housekeeping and the food. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Few kinks to work out!

This community is under new management. They are doing a lot of remodeling right now. The staff has been providing my mother n law with the care that she needs. I don't like that they do not have many activities for the residents. They also could do a better job with cleaning up.

The senior staff was totally awful!

The senior staff was totally awful! The head person fired every single staff person the year my parents were there. The senior managers totally turned them off. Not only was the staff constantly turning over, I had brutal occasions with the head manager who was awful to deal with. She was very friendly at first of course, but after a year decided to up the monthly charge by hundreds of dollars for eating lunch which they had been doing since they got there. They were eating three meals a day every day for a year, and suddenly we had to pay more. It was wonderfully laid out, and nice and new.

Improvements needed

Helpful to know- they have been purchased by another company, major transitions taking place, loss of some great staff, termination of several who were not performing as they should have. 3-5 amazing staff remain who are really trying to keep things running properly. The facility is beautiful! Memory care is chaotic at best and jeopardizes the health and welfare of the clients. Some of MC staff spend too much time on their cell phones, are unprofessional, and simply do not want to work (respond to clients needs, etc). I have had to assume responsibilities for the care of my loved one that should be provided by the unit caregivers such as laundry, personal care/bathing, cleaning of room, monitoring of meals/consumption, ensuring participation in social activities. etc. I am exhausted and not able to spend the quality time with my loved one that I hoped to spend.

Potential for great service but going through major administrative challenges.

A beautiful facility, peaceful surroundings however from an administrative and caregiver standpoint, the service is chaotic at best. Acknowledging that they were recently purchased by another company, and transitions are difficult, I understand some mishaps however, direct service to clients, particularly in the memory care wing, is so lacking that it has impacted the health and welfare of the clients. I would be happy to submit another review in about 2 months once the full transition has taken place and a new normal is evident.
