Did meet with Director and it was a pleasure visiting that facility. The Staff was attentive,we did have lunch there and the food was wonderful.

I liked the Garden one because it has a studio instead of shared living. It has all inclusive personal care.

At the beginning, when I was still "looking" for a place, I always received responses to my emails or voicemail messages I left. Now that I have placed my father in this facility, I can't seem to get any responses to my emails or voicemails that I have left. It is regarding billing and [Removed], the office manager doesn't return my calls. I have even sent emails to Shelly, the person I had signed up with, even though this I not her area and have not received a response. The bill was due on July 1st and there is a 5 day grace period then you pay a late fee. Today is day 5. I started leaving messages on June 19th or 20th. I spoke to the nurse that does the assessment for the assistance needed on Sat., July 1st. She said she would have [Removed] get back to me. Still no response! I am not happy with this lack of response to my questions about their charges which are much higher than what I was told I would be paying.

This was just a short respite stay and I wasn't there much. The most frustrating part was that we didn't get the approval until the last minute. I felt like it could have been handled more expeditiously. When we got there, and being a Sunday, they weren't really ready for her. It's a young group of caregivers, but I do like that they have a low income tier. They have a great group of Seniors living there, really friendly, and funny too. It's a small place, they were very open and accepting. The only thing that was kind of scary was that they happened to have two people with with similar names, that resulted in medication mix-ups.

They said they had a security guard walk the perimeter every night. That didn't seem to be the case. We had an incident that indicated to us that whoever is supposed to be doing that, isn't doing it. Other than that they are clean, and they were cooperative when we moved.

To the best of our knowledge the rooms are nice, they're kept clean, the food is fine, and they monitor our sister's health. As to activities, we have no idea, and if they do have them we have no idea if she participates. I found The Oaks myself, although A Place for Mom helped me get them to get back to me in the early stages. We are the POA for my husband's sister, and we had no idea exactly what that entailed when we signed on for that. We live 200 miles away and because of our own health issues can't go up to visit much. My husband (it's his sister) went up there to get her "installed," and he liked what he saw. Unfortunately we can't get people there to call us back or keep us apprised or her progress (or, I suspect, lack there-of). And she doesn't call us anymore nor answer her phone. I think a memory care place should keep us more informed. It's also pretty expensive, and we're going to need help to find a cheap/gov't assisted place in another year or so when she runs out of money. By then her house will be forfeited to the reverse mortgage people.

Overall diversified community but falls short of promises particularly in what they claim to be "fine dining". Quality of food is sub-par and there are numerous unresolved problems with all aspects of the dining room. Frequent shortages in items on the menu, including staples. Long wait time between ordering and actual service etc. Food served cold and often substitutions, or they run out of items part way through meal service.

A lot of turnover in staffing but it's gotten better. wait time for food can be excessive, my speculation is staffing issues. Not sure how to answer this one. The room size and ability for my mom to be as independent as possible weighed heavy so it was worth it for us. A lot of struggle with admin in the beginning, but many of the admin are gone and replaced.

The carpeting was just cleaned within the last couple days after not being cleaned for over 4 years. My mother is independent, but has had to deal with lack of privacy, and staff coming in her room without notice at all hours of the night without good reason. The staff gets a 1 (old administrator) they just changed about 6-8 weeks ago. New admin much better. But too early to rate. Dining room has many issues. Not all properly trained servers. Food is many times cold when served. Many times people wait 45-60 minutes for their food) unacceptable. My mother is not getting her monies worth, and she is in independent living with no help needed) biggest issue is the dining room at this time. People need to eat decently, and it's not happening.

While there are many caring and dedicated caregivers who do their best, my overall experience left me feeling that operational priorities sometimes took precedence over individualized resident care. There were occasions when the level of assistance provided did not consistently match our expectations. I also felt that management could have been more responsive to resident and family concerns. I appreciate the compassion shown by the caregiving staff and hope these areas continue to improve.

They are very confident, but they are understaffed and communication gets lost between the workers

The environment did not convey a sense of comfort to us. The staff at the facility appeared cold and not especially friendly. Their demeanor was more businesslike compared to other places we visited, which impacted the overall atmosphere. The residents we observed were not very active and did not make use of any of the amenities provided. In general, the amenities were average, and the fitness room was small and lacked adequate equipment. While the casitas offered spacious accommodation, the master bedroom seemed small. The price for the casitas of [Amount Removed] per month (for 2) seems exorbitant, considering that there was no medical care available to residents in the casitas and only one meal a day, the casitas were located a considerable distance from the main facility, requiring a long walk to access central services.

They've experienced a lot of turnover. That being said, the staff who work directly with the clients are very sweet and I believe do their best. I've never questioned that. We've struggled mightily with the admin team, not a lot I can promote there. Cleanliness. I would say it meets expectations with a caveat. Included in my loved one’s costs is a weekly cleaning. Several instances where that hasn't happened with no communication, and when we follow up, it's never clear as to if or when the make-up will occur. It just happened again recently. Things happen, but communication is not prioritized as I believe it should be. Meals - always seem to be understaffed. The food quality is hit or miss. I think they do try to provide interesting options. I'm sure it's challenging to come up with meals that take into account everyone's dietary restrictions and nutritional needs. And again, servers are kind. Apartment size and layout was/is a huge plus and factored into our decision. Very roomy with a nice large kitchen area and bathroom. Activities are also good. Again, the criticism I have here is administrative involving communication—one of the selling points was a weekly specialty class/meeting, and shortly after move-in, it was discontinued. There was never an opportunity to take part. Lastly, there were concerns about how certain care decisions were implemented and communicated. Changes were made without clear explanation or follow-through, which required additional involvement from family to resolve.

They are understaffed which doesn't allow them to help patients with personal needs. I think they have good intentions. The facilities should charge according to their services.

Director has a real heart for the facility. However- the sales rep [name removed] is deceptive and lies to your face. She forbids in a 1 bedroom, which we wanted, yet knowing my mom could t not qualify for the assistance we need with a 1 bedroom. She won't return calls or emails and we live out of town. They are not great at accommodating my mom's food allergies necessities- even with the doctors note and they sold us saying they would. It's clean, lots of activities, most of the staff is nice. 1 overnight nurse is MEAN. Left my mom on the floor for over 25 minutes at night when she fell- this is documented with their pendant system. Then when we complained she has been more mean.

Food is average to slightly above average, then they have a standard every day menu with good enough burgers etc. Staff. Seems a high turnover, that's a negative cause relationship building, etc. though there are some staff that have been there steady. The med techs do a great job communicating with me when there's a low supply of her prescriptions. Maintenance took a long time to deal with an ant infestation and my mom had ants on her in the morning several times. Communication is great generally, has my mom ready for our outings has her meds ready for me to take her. And they do make good effort to have my mom all ready to go when I give them notice. There are creeping unprojected costs however. There are extra fees on top of the cost for "care level". Bingo activities and decent exercise facilities, but I have to pay for a part-time outside caregiver to facilitate her participation in those activities. There's not time for individual staff to develop a decent relationship and encourage My Mom to go to these activities. If it wasn't for my outside caregiver she would lay around not doing anything. And when we first started there and I was asking about caregivers, etc., because I don't know anything about the way this works. They only recommend one from their preferred service provider. There must be something going on with the cahoots there because I have to pay like 50 bucks an hour for that but I get an outside caregiver. A better quality will be the same person every day for 35 bucks an hour or so… They leave you to figure things out on your own quite a bit.

Well the front desk person [name removed]; the medication tech [name removed] & the placement director [name removed] were Stellar in their assistance and communication. However - the executive directors, billing office and wait staff in the restaurant were Horrible in their communications and I'm still waiting for responses to my calls & emails even after my parents moved out of there last week.

The facility is clean. The memory care unit is short staffed. The bistro is rarely full of snacks. Memory care activities. Are weak. Yet they try. Food could be better. The med tech staff does a great job. The marketing director. Is top rated. Never saw the top management or head director. Seemed to not engage much with residents . Possibly a numbers person only.

I love my apartment. I feel the staff is on their side and not ours. Communication is not their strong point. I would not move.

Memory care unit & dad's room had bad smell more often than not. Dad was messy, but staff should have kept the place and room cleaner. . Good. Liked the fact that a Spanish speaking caregiver would sometimes converse with him in Spanish even though he was bilingual. Rest of staff were cordial & friendly. pretty good except his last month when he had too many falls. Good. Responsive (with occasional reminders). Typical institutional food. Dad ate pretty well, but when I visited, we'd go out for lunch or dinner. Liked that they would save his leftovers from our outings for him to eat later. One of the big reasons we chose this facility was how much we liked the activities Director and how well she interacted with my dad on our visit. Unfortunately, she left for a new job at a different company before my dad got placed. (I don't think they ever replaced her while dad was there). Did like the availability of bus outings to park concerts. Had greater expectations for this facility given the expense, but overall it was a pretty good fit for my dad, so I do recommend it. Just be clear about your own expectations and monitor you loved one's progress by communicating with the administrators often
