I chose this facility because the others I saw were very depressing feeling and did not offer much independence. This one offered more independence and had a good atmosphere. They also offer assisted living and memory care if that is needed. They also have different clubs to help new residents which I am a part of. Overall, it has been a good experience and I would recommend them.

We chose The Oaks at Nipomo because of the location, it was close to family and it is also a newer facility. It was built for what it is instead of being renovated. The room sizes here seem adequate for her needs. They have plenty of activities provided for the residents to participate in. I would definitely recommend.

The staff and community were amazing, they took good care of my mother. I would recommend this community to others.

We recently moved my 97 year old Dad from Florida, where he had been living alone. We had checked out several possible assisted living facilities but ended up selecting Mariposa at Ellwood Shores partially because the size of the place was not overwhelming and they allowed him to bring his dog. My Dad is now in memory care and I cannot say enough about the kindness and professionalism of the staff. As a bonus, the facility has been Covid-free and this has allowed the residents to have communal meals and also allowed for socially distanced (and masked) visits. The General Manager holds weekly Zoom meetings to update the families on issues and activities. We are convinced we made the best choice and have recommended Mariposa to others.

The entire experience has been terrific for my parents, and for me as I searched for the best community for my folks. The staff is professional, kind, and very caring, and the facility is wonderful - terrific apartment units and location near the Sandpiper Golf Course, excellent amenities (movie theater, dining room, fitness room, hair salon), and interesting activities to keep residents engaged (including a twice-weekly sight seeing bus tour around the Santa Barbara area). Even with the COVID-related restrictions, we’ve been able to visit my parents (following appropriate protocols), and we even arranged a picnic for my parents with their two grandchildren. My parents and I couldn’t be more pleased with Mariposa, and we feel very fortunate to have them at this wonderful facility.

This is a caring and friendly place for your loved one. I feel comfortable knowing my loved one is there. The food is good. The room is very spacious, has enough room for a bed and chair. The bathroom has a zero entry for the shower.

We looked into a few different facilities and we chose Mariposa at Ellwood Shores because of the proximity to family and we had high marks after our tour. The atmosphere is beautiful and the people here are very friendly. My brother is happy here and he refers to it as home. They do have a lot of activities to provide to the residents, but they do not interest my brother much, but he has met a lot of friends here. They do zoom visits with families every week and they have also been COVID free for 9 months. If I had to go to a nursing home, I would absolutely go here and would recommend to others.

BEAUTIFUL PLACE!! Has everything that I am looking for. Premises are immaculate and customer service is outstanding. Perfect place for me.

I am totally impressed with the Oaks. Since it is a new facility, it sounds like it would be clean, modern, bright, with many amenities.I also like the idea of a workout center with a trained therapist. I am looking forward to seeing it in person.

My father arrived at the start of the Corona virus pandemic, we were successful in getting him in and cared for only with the heroic efforts of the staff. My father was treated with kindness and compassion though out the term of his stay. It was spendy, but I couldn’t find any place near as good at any price. Beside that, he was worth the expense.

The staff couldn't be better, You can't put a price on the care I get here. They go out of there way to help me. Anything I need, all I have to do is call the office and the staff will bend over backwards to do it. They cater to my dietary requests and requirements. The location is close to doctors and is convenient for my husband, who still lives in our home. The are very nice and I couldn't be happier.

The Terraces was a very nice facility that [name removed] greatly enjoyed touring and [name removed] could not have been more accommodating and pleasant! As [name removed] finances are limited, I would like clarification on pricing. Online it states that studios start at 2500.00 but when I made the appt to tour I was told 2800.00. Unfortunately for [name removed] that amount makes all of the difference for her. Please advise. Thank you so much for all of your help.

Beautiful grounds, very nice staff and campus arrangement. .Upgrades look great.

We were very impressed! The staff was friendly (with low turn-over), the facility very clean, the apartments nice, and lunch was great. Secure, unassigned, parking for free was also a plus. Uncle is not yet ready to Make the move but it is a definite contender.

My wife and I were given a tour of Cottonwood Court this past weekend and we were very impressed. Everything I clean, bright, and the décor was very nice. The rooms have good natural light and appear comfortable. They are very considerate of veterans and have a Veteran's Memorial room to meet, play pool, and watch TV. They offer a full range of assistance to help residents as needed.

Great staff in the memory care unit, helpful, caring, and friendly. We were out of town, my mother in law has a corn on her little toe, one of the staff members purchased her a pair of flip flops with her own money. I thought that was above and beyond her duties. Very sweet care taker. My mother in law feels like shes at home, were very happy with the facility. We couldn’t ask for better care.

Originally just for military veterans, it is now open to everyone. It's a gated community that has 221 acres and 440 residential facilities. Residents have a choice between living in a house or in an apartment. We chose to have a house in Altavita Village. There are a number of thoughts that come to mind when one talks of moving to a retirement community. The first is usually the thought that “I’m not ready for that, yet”. Having the “ready” thought in mind, when does one decide that they really are “ready”? In addition to being old enough and financially capable, one has to meet a health standard to move to our community because if provides continuing care -- it is a CCRC. That means that should you require special care, the CCRC part kicks in to a stage wherein your need to stay in our “skilled nursing” or our “memory care” facility is done at a discounted rate as compared to what the rest of the world is paying. Some follow-up on the activities and the camaraderie at the Altavita Village. While it is no longer for military only, the village continues to be the close-knit community that many of us experienced while in the Armed Forces. Everyone here looks out after each other. And there are plenty of activities; if you just want to sit in a rocking chair, go somewhere else. Many of you may be reluctant to leave your community and friends where you now live. That is a definite consideration. But do some thinking as to the benefits of an active retirement -- one that will predate you spending hours in a rocking chair . The Altavita Village CCRC offers many new friends with common interests.

Two terraces facing courtyard with new kitchen and fixtures. Good activities. @160 residents with 60% independent. Licensed assisted living care. Little dark common areas. Great outdoor courtyard area for walking, lounging, entertainment. Good vibes.
