Nice tour

The staff here did a nice job on our tour they showed us all around and answered all our questions. We just did not feel that this community was a good fit for my mom.

This community was ok. Actually toured Hatboro. Room was spacious. While sitting waiting for my tour, staff came to desk to complain about paychecks. They seemed pretty negative which made me question whether or not they would care for mom very well.

buyer beware

Since [Removed] took over the facility, everything has gone downhill especially the level of care in assisted living and Nursing! Staff to patient ratio is horrible.Very few activities and classes as promised. Charges for everything and monthly invoices are confusing and inaccurate. No one seems to know anything and blames everything on corporate. Buyer beware

Careful

They are now doing business as WEL after a change in management. My Mom was briefly a resident before she passed away. Therein lies a tale and a cautionary one at that Most of these types of communities require a buy in before entry an WEL is no different. My Mom had modest means and we had to sell her home for her to qualify for a modest studio. It was satisfactory and clean and the staff was responsive and caring. No problems there. Quite the contrary. But Mom was only in her studio for about a week when she fell and had to be moved to the hospital unit. She was there for a while, happily and well cared for. But she contracted pneumonia, probably after a stay in rehab somewhere else. It never quite cleared up and, much to everyone's chagrin, she took sick and died. All told, she was at WEL for a month or so I want to make it clear she was well cared for. But when you do a buy in, you agree that the unused portion of the buy in, which amortized the rent, will be returned after the apartment was rerented. In Mom's case, that was approximately six months ago [removed]. Yes, it's perfectly legal, I suppose, but it is outrageous given the time she spent there. Her family deserves better The moral is to be very careful dealing with this company. If they owe you part of an estate, they have little incentive to return it. And they are good at stalling. If you can find a less restrictive entrance covenant, do so. Or just hope your loved one spends their resources. Because, otherwise, you will wonder how these people can take an interest free loan on snap estate with virtually no regulation. I have heard similar stories on investigation, and the new management would make me even more wary of dealing with them. Be careful And consult a lawyer specializing in contracts before signing anything

Pros and cons

Our loved one lived in Independent living so they didn't need the care services this community offered. Some activities they had were exercise classes, and entertainment groups. The food was just average, the rooms were on the smaller size but efficient and nice. We thought this was going to more of an active community, but the residents didn't really engage with one another. This community did get hit pretty hard with COVID. Be sure to question the practice and protocol with how they are handling this pandemic. The staff was very friendly. We would recommend that the families ask to speak with the residents before making any decisions.

Look elsewhere. My mothers apartment was robbed recently and many valuable items were stolen. Doesn't appear that too many people on site care about this incident. I am sure there are other places that are more secure and safer.

Respite interim stay

My Uncle was transferred to the skilled care here from the hospital and he did very well, but when he was transferred over to the personal care side he had a difficult time adjusting. We knew that he was only going to be here for a respite stay as an interim while we found a permanent community for him to move too. The staff did work well with him the month he was here.

Grossly understaffed in personal care

My mother started as independent living and got moved to the personal care floor. The staff is very good -- there are just not enough of them. So my mom is not getting the right level of care which means we need to do much more for her. We are looking at other options, but she paid a lot of money to get in there and at this point we feel stuck. WEL, hire more aids and stop trying to pretend you have the right amount of staff.

My tour review

I found this community very depressing and did not like the feel of this community. I knew this was not the place for my loved one. The tour guide was also a little forceful and I was stating my loved ones needs and they were trying to force something else just to make it work. I did not even get a chance to see independent living.

Our Tour Experience

We didn’t like Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line. It was far too big for our taste. They have a tram car that would take you to the different parts of the facility. It was just a really large community, with a lot of walking. I didn't like the fact that their dining options weren’t as good as other places we looked at. They have limited breakfast and lunch. And it seemed like for the size of the facility, the dining area was kind of small.

My father was discharged from their rehab facility unable to climb stairs. My parents live in a split-level house. They led my mother to believe my father was in much better condition than he is. It's all about the Medicare reimbursement with them.

[Name removed] was all over the place. It was too big and an active construction site. She also acted like she knew our finances when that was never discussed and just assumed that it was too much. Not interested in this place at all.

Not taking care of the residents!

We took the tour of the community and the lady that gave the tour was absolutely fantastic and very professional. We just did not like what we had saw. The place was a dump. The residents were filthy dirty and one of the residents that kept coming to us looked like she has not been changed in 2 months and her hair not been combed in about the same time. Also we did not like that they do not offer any programs for the residents.

I Did Not Like the Rooms

I had a tour to see what it was like. They were good at showing me around the community and it was a small building that looked old. I was shown a room and I did not like the way the room was.

I wasn't happy with my tour of Stapely.

I wasn't happy with my tour of Stapely. We didn't like the facility. We toured both the assisted living and the nursing home. The nursing home seemed as though the people were warehoused. It was clean but the atmosphere was awful. It was not even a place I would consider, it didn't seem like a very pleasant place.

Be Careful

Stapeley is likely to be a good place for people over 70 or 75 who have Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. It is not a good place for those who might have a challenge in making a transition from home to a memory care unit. The staff is not trained or prepared for challenges like that and does not deal well with them.

Turned out with 15 days notice and attempt to force into skilled nursing

My 95-year-old mother moved into Wesley Enhanced Living assisted living in August 15th. The facility was initially satisfactory, nice apartment, good activities. However, on September 15th, I was informed that the facility was closing due to a failed sale, giving us 30 days to move out, violating the contract. They insisted my mother needed skilled nursing despite no change in her condition. They refused to share the reassessment details. Eventually, they offered a small room at Stapeley. The facility's rapid decline led to my mother falling and bruising herself due to a malfunctioning call button. After brief hospitalization, we moved her to Stapeley, only to be forced into their rehab unit. Just before her release, they again claimed she needed skilled nursing without proper explanation. I took her home and Sunrise of Abington readily accepted her into personal care. The ordeal caused my mother significant stress and depression, which I believe contributed to her passing in April.

Dreadful

We were really excited during the admissions process, but once we moved in, there was no communication. The sales director was still great, and would do things outside of his role like hook up our loved one's tv. But the nurses would never get back to us. Our loved one's landline phone wasn't plugged in, just sitting next to the jack. Her cell phone wasn't plugged in, just sitting next to the outlet. So we were never able to contact her. The nurse's stations always said they would have our loved one call us, and they never did. With dementia, our loved one would forget to eat, and was confused and thought she had to pay to go eat. She ended up losing so much weight, and was hospitalized for dehydration. The staff didn't notify me of the problem - I had no idea she wasn't eating or drinking until the hospitalization. When we would visit, nobody at the front desk would talk to us while we were there. We found the room and the facility to be nice, but the care and treatment are what really matters. When we went to pickup her things, her clothes and her pillow were missing.
