Watermark Retirement Communities

This community is a little pricer than the community we chose and it is not as nice. The people are nice, however this community is more like a nursing home and we were looking for independent living.

The Alzheimer's patients are in the same wing as the assisted living....makes for activities that are not stimulating enough for someone who still has her mind. Even though I wrote extensive instructions on what was needed and what was not, I still had to run interference on several occasions. Food is good, and after all the caregivers were finally on board with what was needed and what was not, she is doing pretty good there.

Some of the caregivers are fabulous and some are downright unpleasant, they’re not warm. For example, they set the food down and then just walk way. They could do a better job getting people to eat. It would be a better value without the caregivers who really don’t seem interested. When I went and looked at the place, everything looked cheery and rosy. Some of the teams of caregivers are better than other.

The staff that interacted with my Aunt were mostly pleasant and helpful. Management were less available but still responsive to any questions. The facility was mostly clean. I can't comment on the food because my Aunt didn't eat much while she was there. Her room was a studio. The bathroom and kitchenette were both nice. I think it were more positives than negatives. My Aunt was extremely weak while there. I couldn't comment on the social activities. She couldn't participate in anything. The nurses and staff would contact me on the phone when my consent was needed. Hospice staff also kept me informed on her status. I'm satisfied and glad she was there for her final days.

Activities at Watersound Fountains are far beyond the normal in-house card games and trips to grocery stores. The area has parks, beaches, great restaurants, weekly markets, a theater that has professional performances and other great activities that the residents are transported to when the bus works. The single apartments are very adequate though start at [Amount removed]/month. Three bedrooms are over [Amount removed] Electricity and water are included in the monthly rental. However, food is not. The in-house restaurant is quite nice on Friday night but only average most days. A hamburger with fries is [Amount removed] There is a[Amount Removed] credit that can be used for haircuts, manicures and meals but most residents often underspend it. The underspend is not carried into the next month. I feel that a rating of 3 out of 5 is reasonable for the following reasons. Watersound Fountains was built approximately three years ago. I believe due to poor management by the Watermark Corporation the facility is rapidly deteriorating. In particular appliances are being savaged from unoccupied apartments to replace those in occupied apartments. There is a maintenance staff but they don't have the repair parts needed in many cases. I also want to point out unresolved business, apartment maintenance and transportation concerns.

Would have been helpful to have had a guide who knew their way around and didnt get lost. Also to have known shortage of space available. Interested in 1 bedroom with den that was not available.

I appreciate the attentiveness of the staff. I believe that, in general, my Aunt is in knowledgeable and kind hands. The facility appears to be understaffed at times.

Several occasions since new management took over the residents are not receiving full dinner choices and receive minimum food choices with no sides. This is an outrage. The elevated cost of residential living should include an abundance of food allowances. Seniors should not be denied a full dinner option.

Many staff have left, costs of being a resident there are outrageous. Rent goes up by obnoxious amounts yearly. However staff are nice and caring.

I moved my dad in here. Good people, nice facilities. It was 100% and improvement for his living circumstances. I love this place for him, but they are a little slow to attend to maintenance needs. The staff is great. There is lots for him to do, and lots of folks for him to meet. He is still acting like a hermit, but he did take an outing with them

What the Legacy at Clover Blossom could improve on would be the variety of the food as well as the overall quality of the food. With those improvements, I would recommend this community to other families.

My loved one is currently a resident at Rose Tree Place and overall the experience at this facility has been okay. The cleanliness is good and there are no smells. The friendliness and care services are also good. The staff is great! The food is okay. As for the value for cost, it depends on the level of care needed. The base rate is good, but the extra services are costly and they add them without family approval or even notice.

My mom passed away in February. She was moved to memory care in July. Memory care experience was worse than Personal care. My ratings reflect the overall experience. Some of the staff were very caring. Dining situation, activities and treatment in memory care was not a good experience. Although some staff were very caring.

For weeks the Finance Dept. has refused to return my calls. I just want to know about the "extra" charges they applied beyond the base cost. After one month, I still haven't heard back from them. As the one footing the $[removed]/year rate, I would think they would be more responsive. With several good facilities in the Orlando area, I am beginning to regret choosing Watermark at Vistawilla. Be sure to take this into account when you choose facilities.

The staff is very friendly especially [name removed] unfortunately they nickel and dime you to death with fees Three meals were included daily with your rent unfortunately if you're ill and can't go down and get your food they will bring it up to you for $12 per meal additional that adds up they nickel and dime you to death for medications you can't take an aspirin on your own You can't take a vitamin on your own they have to bring it to you and charge you per dosage being a vitamin and aspirin a cough drop they charge you each time that all adds up well above what you're paying for your rent That's a big negative for me if I know that going in I wouldn't have placed her there.

This community could work to improve their communication with the families

The staff was very nice and friendly and the rooms were nice sized. I like the size of the community due to it being smaller. The community had some covid cases but the communication was not very good. When my loved one passed the communication from the community stopped and I am having trouble getting anyone to call me back. I think they could have been more compassionate than they were.

It's an okay place. The food has gone done terribly since the Pandemic. They do not have much outdoor space, some units have balconies. My mom feels very unstable because a lot of the staff is leaving.

I met with [Removed], Sales Associate, who has worked at the Fountains in another role for years and knows the place inside and out. This is nice because it is not all sales, but speaks louder than words of safety, satisfaction, and rewards of being a part of The Fountains family.The big bonuses that I noted were the extra storage attached to each apartment as well as extra in the lower level (basement), the covered parking (additional fee), no waiting list deposit,guest rooms for overnight visitors (current fee $90/night), allied healthcare personnel there 24 hours, bi weekly housekeeping and linen service, assistance alert pendants for each resident,and the quiet as we moved from the center core of activities to the rooms. The rooms seems smaller although sq ft is the same as other facilities. The interior doorways are narrower, as well as interior hallway making it a tight space to open doors. The kitchens are studio apt size with breakfast bar. There is one washer and dryer on each floor but not in the rooms(no space or hook ups either). Transfer from one floor plan to another may include a fee of up to $1000, and 60 day notice required for moving. I do not like the location.

My client lived at this community briefly. The facility was lacking a director for a while, so there was no leadership or management. You’d hear different stories from different people about how to handle different situations. We had 24hr care there to look after her and the staff would take a long amount of time to respond when we asked for help and there were 3 trash bags outside the door, at one time, that they did not pick up. The food looked nutritional and well balanced, though I never ate it. They had several different activities to do but she was bed-ridden so she did not participate. Housekeeping was supposed to come by once a week and anytime I visited her room was clean. Overall, there just seemed to be a lot of miscommunication between everyone. I think part of the reason why it didn’t work so well is because the staff is busy and under staffed and she needed more care than what they were able to give her. We eventually moved her out to a different place.
