Disrepect is unacceptable

I am disturbed at the behavior of some employees. The person at the front desk is usually the first person quest will encounter. The Terrace has a rude person by the name of [name removed] at that desk. It disturbs me because this woman called my mother, a resident at the facility out of her name. To be exact, she called my mother a [profanity removed]. In my opinion she she NOT be working there and she absolutely should NOT greet anyone. I've spoken to [name removed] about it & she feels like the woman is a very nice person. She's NOT nice if she'll call a resident out of her name. They have some work to do when it comes to customer service

For now, I am happy with my life at Greenpoint. The facility's common areas are cleaned often and the residents are serviced every week by housekeeping staff. The great majority of the residents are friendly and the staff are friendly and very welling to help. I am a independent resident and do not use care services. But, those that do that I associate with seldom complain. [name removed] has purchased Greenpoint so were we are in a transition period and there are many new people and some problems. So far things are moving along but, and problems are taking longer to get resolved but they do get fixed. We have a new Director that has been here about a month, she is well qualified and commutations has improved considerably. In addition to the transitions, many new residents have come to Greenpoint in the passed four months. Meal times have increased for a while now they improving as the service staff increases. Meals are adequate and there are many choices. I feel the cost is a little high verses the services I get and the new owner has immediately raised the rent. I will wait and see.

Cardinal Senior Communities at Roanoke

There is a constant turnover in personnel, which I realize is everywhere in every type of these days, but new hires are not being trained or required, it seems, to have respect for the residents. I have witnessed aides in particular speaking to residents dismissively and often in an ugly manner. We have had issues with personnel coming into my parent's room in the middle of the night and rummaging through closets and belongings without identifying themselves and for absolutely no reason other than to find things to take. I have spoken with other family members who are dealing with the same issues. Rather than providing privacy for the resident who may need medication and coming to their rooms, this is very often done in the middle of meals in the dining room. To me, this would be humiliating as a resident, and I would think that this would be a violation of HIPAA. The front doors are constantly in lockdown, which does not allow visitors to get in or out without finding someone to put the code in to open the doors. This is infuriating. In addition, the food is absolutely atrocious, and I have witnessed residents asking for something different, and they are told "this is it." Housekeeping in each resident's room is supposed to be a weekly thing but is often not the case, and the cleaning is mediocre at best. I would like to add that there are some shining stars in the facility. Mallory, Barb, and Nick always seemed to be showing a warm side to the residents and showing affection and respect. Alisha works hard at juggling the different issues within staff.

The environment is very friendly and pleasant. The staff is very helpful and eager to listen to your needs. The food is a definite area in need of improvement. And laundry services could improve. Pros and cons.

Most of the staff are very kind and caring. Cleanliness depends where you are in the building. Friendliness is fantastic. Quality of care could use some work. They just lost one of their nurses again. It's like a revolving door there with staff. Admin staff is a disaster. Food is all processed. Activities are the same every single day and nonexistent on the weekend. They need to update and replace old cabinets and rugs. Administration needs to listen to their staff members, especially nursing.

High turnover in administration

High turnover in administrative positions. My mother in law has been there a year and a half and they've gone through four memory care directors. Communication is poor. My phone is a back up if they don't get an answer on my husband's phone and they can't seem to get it right. There was one incident where we didn't find out that she took a fall for two weeks when my husband found a buried message in his junk mail. Recently she ran into a physical altercation with an aggressive resident and we were never notified about it until we heard from the Pike County Division of Aging two days ago who opened a case because someone reported it.

Downhill with new management

Not sure if you need this info but they've recently gone through a change in management and in my opinion gone significantly downhill. It seems like they've fired the majority of staff and just sit the residents in front of the tv all day. We ended up moving my mom out. Room sizes are good. I felt like the room was acceptable for what my mom needed. I do not feel like there were any amenities offered. My mom received extra services (haircuts, PT, etc) but they were through external organizations.

At first great, but now meh

When we first moved our loved one into Keepsake (KSV), we felt like they were being cared for and mattered. The staff was responsive to our loved one's needs and safety. Several of the staff were exemplary in their care for the residents (and a few still are!). In the last six to twelve months, we feel that the cost of our loved one's care far exceeds the actual care they are receiving. We visit regularly and find our loved one sitting alone and unkempt, while staff are sitting at another table talking amongst themselves. In the couple of years our loved one has been at KSV, the cost of care has increased by nearly[fee removed]! While inflation has impacted all of us, it feels like KSV taking advantage of our unfortunate situation.

Mom in memory care

Alzheimer’s is an awful disease. My mom doesn’t remember me. She looks good and she likes the food. She likes the entertainment. The staff are helpful. It is clean. I would like her cleaner as far as clothes and hair but it is hard to give people with Alzheimer’s a bath. She has been in a respite spot for over sixty days but will be full time soon. She will stay there as long as they can take care of her. They are doing a good job better than I could give her. They also got her in quickly! I couldn’t care for her anymore and I am relieved how it turned out.

Experience at Viva

Mom doesn't like it. She complains about the food all the time. They have caught a couple of UTI before they got serious. She likes her aide. [name removed] at the desk is who I interact with and she's very nice and efficient. She's safe and they monitor her. My brother is in the area and visits weekly. He doesn't have any concerns. This is the 4 facility she's been in. And they all seem the same. Or at least she has the same complaints. She complained when she lived with me. It's not her home. Not her friends. They don't know how to season things or cook .

Viva Senior Living at Wilson Manor review

The staff was always friendly. However, I guess they were like other places and short staffed my mother in law fell in the bathroom and she said they never checked on her until next day. She fell several times while there. The biggest problem she had a boot where she broke foot on one of the falls and nobody checked it. When she went to rehab they looked and she had 2 places on her foot that had turned black where it was too tight. So not the best experience, but it was always clean and staff friendly.

A nice community with room for improvements.

The meals need improvement nutrition wise. The staff is very friendly. I need to stay on top of the medicines myself. The activities are good. The quality of care could be better if the techs were better trained. The cleanliness is good. Cost wise I don't think you get what you pay for, but I'm not sure that would be better anywhere else.

A nice community with room for improvement on the edges.

Generally it was a good experience. There were times I thought some of the policies were too rigid when he was to return from various rehabs but I realize that those limitations are set by type of facility. The floor staff and nurses that took care of my Dad were great. Very caring. The activity coordinators seemed like super people. The price is very onerous but I understand that is the market.

Nothing like home

Ate lunch there and I’m 83 and had a hard time eating it. Watched other patients having the same problem, if they didn’t eat when time was up dishes were removed. Felt bad for them. If I could handle him at home , for the price I’m paying for there, I would bring him home but saw how they handle the patients is ignore until they have time. At home I would answer immediately and meds would be given on time and wake him up when there due.
