Not so great anymore

This place was wonderful for a period of time, but things have changed for the worse at this facility. "Something" happened and several people were fired. They are now without several key positions and seem to be quite understaffed. While everyone is very friendly and the facility is gorgeous, the level of care misses the mark and there is no communication. There seems to be a "don't ask questions, we're handling everything and you don't need to know" kind of attitude. Calls to check on my loved one go unreturned, despite many friendly responses that they'll have someone get back with me. No one ever does. When we're there, we're told that everyone is too busy to talk to us and someone will phone is later. No one ever does. The physician's assistant that sees residents doesn't follow up either, despite medicine changes and medical issues. In a nutshell, if you move a loved one here, you're turning them over to a staff and hoping for the best. You will not know what truly is going on. It's almost creepy. Everyone smiles and says everything is great, but no one seems to be able to elaborate on anything (new bruises, changes in behavior, medicine changes, etc.) other than they'll get the answer and get back with you... Which doesn't happen. They're too busy.

Very disappointed in care

Dining and dining room staff was the only thing good about Inspired Living. Everything else was bad. Mom had a large wound from a fall on her hip and it was bandaged and dated before entering Inspired Living. They let that dated bandage stay on her for over 10 days without changing it. Mother also has diabetes and wounds should be taken much more seriously than that. We approached administration about several items several different times with no changes. We removed Mom from there within 19 days. Would have been less but couldn't find availability. Also, she went in to Inspired walking fairly well with a walker and was put in a wheelchair and has had trouble getting strength enough to get out of it. Very bad and disappointing experience.

Not what was promised

I initially thought this was a beautiful facility. However, the staffing and day-to-day operations have not met my expectations or my father’s needs. My father has frequently been left unattended. On multiple occasions, he has fallen out of bed and not been discovered for hours, remaining on the floor in a fetal position. He has also fallen out of his wheelchair twice this month, even while staff were present. I have serious concerns about safety and care standards. For example, doors in the facility close and lock within about two seconds, rather than slowly closing as expected for wheelchair accessibility. This creates hazards for residents with mobility limitations. Given the monthly cost of $6,095, I do not feel the level of care provided is appropriate. I have personally witnessed staff handling my father in ways that caused him pain. Because he cannot extend his legs beyond a 90-degree angle, improper movement is especially concerning. During one instance, a staff member forcefully pulled on his legs despite his clear expressions of pain and did not respond appropriately. Since arriving, my father has developed multiple bed sores, which raises further concerns about the consistency and quality of care. There has also been significant staff turnover, including changes in December and additional departures at the end of March. This has led to a lack of continuity in care. Many caregivers rotate frequently, which is particularly difficult for someone with memory impairment. Additionally, communication has been a challenge, as many staff members do not speak English, and my father is hard of hearing. There are no consistent accommodations for written communication. I have repeatedly requested that my father receive two-person transfers for safety reasons, but this has not been consistently honored. In a meeting I requested in late March, I was told that my father may no longer qualify to remain at the facility due to his care needs. This contradicts what was originally communicated by the sales team and executive director, and it highlights a lack of clear communication. I am also concerned that incidents, including falls, may not be properly documented. For example, after one fall from bed, my father sustained two black eyes, yet communication around such incidents has been minimal. If my father chooses not to participate in group activities—often due to his hearing limitations—he is discouraged from staying in his room. Instead, he is left in common areas where he has fallen asleep in a chair and subsequently slipped out due to lack of supervision. There is no reliable way for him to call for help from his room—no pull cord or alert device—and staff checks can be spaced two to three hours apart. We have implemented a notebook system, at my father’s request, to support communication. The hospice team uses it effectively, documenting his condition, needs, and interactions. However, facility staff have declined to participate, citing language barriers, which further limits communication and continuity of care. The caregiver-to-resident ratio of approximately 1:10 does not appear sufficient for residents with complex physical, cognitive, and emotional needs. Additionally, hygiene care has been inconsistent. It appears staff rely on the hospice team to provide showers, while facility staff limit care to basic wipe-downs. I have also observed inappropriate use of aerosol deodorant sprayed near his face. My father has expressed that he does not want to remain at this facility. He reports that staff are often rough when assisting him, rushing through dressing and transfers without regard for his physical limitations. I have not observed consistent use of two-person transfers, despite the clear need. Overall, this has been a deeply concerning experience, marked by safety issues, inconsistent care, and limited communication.

Terrible be careful

Absolutely horrifying experience all the care of the resident is done by the care team. It all looks good on social media. Definitely put a camera in the room. I have so many videos . I think people will be very, very shocked on how the resident is treated the food is absolutely terrible especially if you’re not feeling good and have to bring it to the room. It’s ice cold and these are all facts and I have videos to prove it do not believe what you’re seeing on Facebook do not believe what you’re seeing on any social media go in person and visit and make sure you look at the rooms. Make sure you look at the number of staffs. It doesn’t matter if the person that signed you up tells you a story it doesn’t matter that the director tells you so many things. Once that resident pays [removed price] a month and gets settled in there you were on your own and the back gate is always open and people can come in. There’s not much Security.

Would not recommend

The staff for the most part were not well trained for memory care residents. Food and dining was probably a 3. The apartment was a 1. It has a terrible smell from day one and still had the same urine smell when we left after several complaints. The staff was under staffed for the amount of residents that led to many falls to my mom.

It pains me to write this, but it must be said. Inspired Living of Bonita Springs is no longer the community it once was. They had excellent Executive Directors in [name removed] and [name removed], but then the company was acquired by a company whose culture is so odious that it rattles me to the core. No empathy. No understanding. A woman from corporate named [name removed](sp?) told a family who had a complaint that if they didn’t like it they should go somewhere else, which of course they did. This same individual was also heard saying she hated dealing with the families. What?! The current Executive Director, [name removed], and her boss, [name removed], wouldn’t be able to point out more than three or four of the residents by name. Imagine. And Inspired Living no longer employs a nurse there, which is a big deal. They have fired all of the seasoned professionals and have replaced them with either inexperienced teenagers or woefully unqualified adults. It is clear that Inspired Living is no longer what it once was.

Inadequate care

My Uncle spent 17 days at this facility in memory care . He was doing fine until he refused to take his medication. He had an episode and was taken to the hospital, spent 10 days.on [date removed] the payment of $[removed] was taken out of his account. I had to find another facility for him before he got out of the hospital, because they were not going to accept him back. He also broke a window which we had to pay for replacement. His move in date was [date removed]. 17 days of care cost $[removed]. $[removed]for the deposit ,$[removed]for the retro amount and $[removed] for the broken window. . I received the refund on [date removed]. This could have been avoided if it had been handled differently. He has been at a different facility almost a month and is thriving. He is 85 years old and has dementia. This was stressful and expensive. A big thank you to [name removed] for helping get the refund. Without her help I would still be waiting for the refund. This facility promised they could handle him.

Would not recommend for memory care

I informed them my husband could have aggressive behavior, he was in memory care. He wasn't there 10 days and I was getting phones calls about his behavior in the middle of the night. Even though their sales staff and director assured me their staff could handle things. I was put on notice to remove him after 15 days. He is now at [community removed] and it is night and care and staff. Inspired living staff would call me and ask me what to do with him. I would tell them if I knew that he would be home with me. I would not recommend this memory care facility to anyone their answer was to drug my husband to take care of him. I was required to hire 24/7 caregivers while he was still there and they voiced concerns about his condition with the drugs he was being given.

Never recommend

Run Don't walk away from this place!! They're extremely nice when they're "selling" Themselves as a caring clean operation. Once your loved one is placed there the cleanliness AND caring goes out the window. My family and I went to visit my father at the facility shortly after he apparently had fallen out of bed for at least the second time within two months (my family and I had taken care of my dad for 3+yrs prior to him entering the facility and he NEVER fell) And to our surprise his room looked like a crime scene. There was blood still on the floor of his room and on his bedding. Wait It gets better!! While we were taking my dad outside for some fresh air my wife noticed that he was walking oddly. When I pulled up his shirt to check on his pants he was wearing his roommates pants!!! My father wears a size 38 waist and is 6'4" His roommate is probably a 32 waist and under 6'. How they got him in those pants I'll never know but they did. And when I confronted them on the condition of the room and where his pants were I was met with blank looks and no answers. Needless to say This place is a total disaster and I couldn't recommend it in good conscience to ANYONE!!!

Beware if you care for your loved ones.

If you like the price to go up 3 times in 6 months. He had a broken wrist and bed sores. They never informed us of injuries and money price increases. When they took [cost removed] out of the checking account without an explanation I Gave them a 3-month notice for moving out. Then when I moved him out they told me I didn't give the notice and tried to charge me [cost removed] They play a great game with your health and money. Don't let your loved ones go there.

Good except for the bridge over the water.

Bridge to gazebo is rickety. I got a sliver in my hand from the railing. Also could be dangerous if someone fell. They could easily fall into the water. It should have vertical supports to the railing to prevent someone from falling in the water.

Very Disappointing

They feel 30 min. is an appropriate wait time after pushing the call button that residents wear. However, my mother's waits were much longer and often left unanswered. We had to find another place for mom after many meetings, emails, phone calls, and promises from staff as Inspired Living was not a safe place for her.

Full of regrets. Wish I never did it.

My husband got a blood infection at Inspired Living and was medically mistreated there. They have now blocked me in their email. I don't think they're trustworthy. They poorly transitioned him from home to memory care. And they failed to update me with critical challenges he experienced in in the 13 days he was there. He went to the ER three times in those 13 days, by ambulance, which I had to pay for. He ended up on a vent and septic. He is now at home with me in hospice care for his final days. I want my money back, even though I know that's impossible. They don't deserve it. I regret ever taking him there and trusting them.
