Ultimate Care Senior Living Management

My mom has been in the lynbrook facility for three years. Her life savings have almost been depleted. I was told several months ago that medicade was going to take over. Instead, I received a notice that the rates per day are going up an enormous amount. Unless your loved one has a healthy bank account, look elsewhere!

The Bristal at Armonk was very dark. The nurses all seemed over whelmed and annoyed. The residents were all corralled in a small area during my visit and didn't seem to have many activities which i did not like. The residents also seemed agitated. The overall look was outdated.

The Bristal is great for assisted living unless you have dementia and really have to be watched.

If your family member is unable to care for themselves you absolutely need to keep on top of them. Everything that goes on at the location should be watched as they do not watch for you. I would not recommend them

Do not have respite which is what I require/requested. Salesperson explained they choose the type of clientele they want. Also strongly indicated with no assessment my parents would never be able to live at their current home again.

Originally I was very happy with the Bristal. The community seemed vibrant and the rooms are spacious for the price. I left a deposit and our experience completely changed. The building is very large and there are rooms very far from the elevators. The only room that was available was a one bedroom (we wanted a studio and we were originally told by the director of sales that if a studio was not available, we would be offered a one bedroom at the studio price until a room opened up) as far from the elevator as could be, which was too far from my dad to walk. We also noted on both tours that the floors needed vacuuming and had litter, lint, etc in many areas throughout the facility, and I did not see housekeeping actively working either time. I was told that the Bristal does not send out staff to do pre-admission assessments and I would have to bring my dad to them, which is impossible because he is in a subacute rehab in central NJ. So he would be moving in and I would be signing a contract without knowing the level of care that he would need. I was also told that the Bristal charges a pet fee of $1,500, which was not the case in other facilities I looked at. The director of sales has been out sick for the past week and there has been no one to respond sufficiently to our questions about discharge planning and moving in. Today we called and left a message to tear up our deposit and decided to go with another smaller facility in our area. I am very disappointed as I thought the community would be very good for my dad, since independent living residents are there with the assisted living residents. But the lack of responsiveness from the staff was just not acceptable, especially in this stressful time in our lives. They just didn't seem to care.

It's brand new, so everything was beautiful. The apartments were large and spacious, they had exercises and activities, the food seemed excellent. They have memory care just like other places, and different levels of care. They don't look at the individual and whether or not they have behavioral or wandering issues. It seems they just don't want anyone who is less than desirable in their picture perfect area. They don't care about a long marriage, they want the extra money, if they wanted to stay together they would have both had to do to the memory care area. That was unacceptable for them. They weren't very welcoming, and didn't seem to care about much besides their bottom line, and their appearance.

The buildings looked very nice - still under construction. It may have been the sales rep present on the day i went -- hated it. She did not seem aware that older people would be living there. She would be better suited to sell time shares at a vacation destination. She stared at me with a blank face when I asked if the Bristal maintained or had relationships with providers of services elderly might need. No transportation provided for anything. .. . They were a newer facility so they were nice and shiny, but they had a good amount of positive covid cases so it was unclear how the community was so clean but there was positive cases. The staff was friendly but not always. The first night our loved one was there she had fallen out of bed, which she never did at her previous community. The nurse and physician assistant reached out to us that morning saying they did not know if they could care for our loved one anymore. This was very shocking to us, and we were really disappointed.

The new, beautiful facility belies the poor care and chaotic environment in the memory care unit. Not enough staff to properly look after the residents. [removed]. My mother was left to fend for herself at times when she clearly needed more care. She was rarely showered at at one point her hair was left unwashed for over a month! The same staff who care for the residents are also the same who serve the meals. They are overworked and I suspect underpaid. On numerous occasions I overheard staff complaining about the working conditions and how they are just waiting for a better job to come along. Not comforting to overhear! The director herself confided that they are not in control of the staff and the unit. DO NOT be swayed with the beautiful decor and spacious accommodations. This is not a safe place for your loved one with memory issues.

Memory care (Reflections)The Bristal in Woodcliff Lake NJ is not the place to go. They are often understaffed in all areas of the facility. Lots of turnover at this location in many departments. I recently moved my mom out of this facilities memory care unit after she was sent to the ER unresponsive. Doctor said her symptoms were a direct result of dehydration. They couldn’t keep her hydrated? The level of care is way below average. On many occasions I found my mom wearing 2 pull-ups. Even after discuss discussing with management this still happened. Always s got an excuse why. The tone in which some of the memory care staff speaks to the residence is inappropriate. Their redirecting skills at times are so nonexistent. Yelling "Sit down" at someone isn't what these residents deserve or are paying for. Residents are locked out of their rooms all day long. Wheelchair residents sit in front of tv ALL day only.

Please don’t send anyone to the Bristal memory care in Waldwick. It’s horrible. Do not send your loved one here. The assisted living side is a 4/5, the memory care is a 1 at best. Horrible.

They left my mother-in-law in her apartment for two days and no one checked on her. The care is very poor they actives are none. The place is a dump. The staff does not care. The depart of health should close the place down.

Think twice before leaving your loved one here. Once they’re in it’s extremely hard to get them out. They are heavily influenced by dollar signs with no regard of human rights. Financial gain is the only thing they truly care about. Financial gain to benefit them and my father's wife who put him in there. My father is being kept in the “memory care” side of this facility. You know, the side with the locked doors that the average person can’t see behind. The side with non-verbal, wheelchair-bound people who are unable to survive without assistance. With the exception of some memory issues, my father is in no position to be locked in an area of two rooms. I am not in denial of his condition although they’d like to make you believe you are. They actually try to spin everything to make you feel crazy. Saying things like “we see this all the time”, and “it’s a family issue”. They will diminish your rights as his own blood family. Place looks beautiful, care is horrible! Staff needs to reaccess if they should be working with the elderly as they are not treated nicely. Big mistake putting my loved one here. Aides are not very nice, paid for them to hand medication didnt even make sure pills actually went into her mouth. Found several pills on the bed, rushed out the door. Not Nice! aides shouldnt be working with the elderly!!!!! big mistake placing my loved on here!!!!

If you plan on moving into this place do not take the bed. Unless you want you love one sleeping with bedbugs.

My mother is currently at The Bristol Assisted of White Plains. A big mistake! I have found staff consistently UNPROFESSIONAL I have been personally in contact with the reception, nursing and case management. Whether I have called or come in person I have encountered poor ATTITUDES! When I have inquired about my mother, not only have I been rushed off the phone but given all the verbal unspoken signs that they don't care and don't want to talk to you. I went to reception once upon arrival from a long drive, I didn't know how to use the facial temperature device. Wow! the person at the front desk audibly sighed. Revealed in voice and body language like it was such a HUGE inconvenience that she had to walk over to show me.! It was such a quick thing. Your not speaking to your own families but customers of your facility! The staff could also learn to SMIILE! Most of them you see walking around look like they just ate a lemon! I think the staff has mental issues!

Was not impressed with the wellness department. Seems as if the director has no clue as to what’s going on. She’s very rude to the residence and her staff. She is more like a zoo keeper.
