It's going okay so far.

It's going okay so far. The staff is friendly. The food has been about a four, it's pretty good. I would like to see the maintenance catch up on some of the things that need done. We have some maintenance issues we are still waiting to have resolved.

This was just an average experience.

This was just an average experience. I feel like the staff was overworked and in some cases, they were too busy to be bothered with other issues. It seems like everyone had too much to do, to give my mom what she needed. They had a lot of turnover and that was concerning to me as well.

Not Impressed

I just looked at it but what I didn't like about it was that it was dingy. There was nothing showing for activities or meals. I was there for an hour and 20 minutes and the residents were still waiting for the exercise director to come do exercises with them.

Love the staff I met and the location is perfect for me. Director was delightful and very helpful with information on the non-profit option compared to the larger chain options. The rooms and amenity spaces were not as nice as some other spaces, but the location is urban so there is not a lot of room to grow. The room prices are the lowest I have seen.

Mixed Review for Heather's

During the past two years that my grandfather has lived at this facility, I've had mixed feelings about the quality of the facility. The staff that works at the reception desk are fantastic: very welcoming, caring and social with residents and guests. There is a high turnover amongst the dining room staff - although friendly, they appear to be entry level and I have heard complaints from my grandfather and other residents/family about long waits for service at mealtime (sometimes up to an hour). The carpeting in common areas has multiple stains and is long overdue for cleaning. My biggest disappointment with the facility is the state of disrepair of the concrete/asphalt sidewalks, patios and paths: while pushing my grandfather in a wheelchair, he and his wheelchair nearly tipped over twice after hitting holes in the sidewalk. This concrete/asphalt disrepair has been an ongoing issue for over a year. Holes in sidewalks are a hazard to the safety of Heathers' residents, potential ADA violations and an open door for a lawsuit.

They were my top choice for a while.

We considered AlmaVia as we were looking for options. They were my top choice for a while. There were some things that I found odd though. We tried to provide as much information about our experiences with her caregiving, as possible, to find the right fit for her. There was a concern that we were sharing too much and we found that odd, because I am the POA and we were sharing what we felt was needed to make sure she would be a worthwhile resident here. The waiting list then got very long, and they didn't want to be in the loop of her caregiving anymore. We then decided against AlmaVia.

Hindsight is 20/20

Be there as much as possible to advocate for loved one. Ask loved one if they are getting services they're supposed to and if not, talk directly to person in charge. Question any changes, esp any med changes. Get written copy of care plan. Install cameras that monitor to your phone.

Disappointed, promises not kept

I think it is a fine place to move into. The only complaint is my loved one said it feels like a bait and switch. They promised a lot of things in the beginning that they are not and have not followed through with. It is a very quiet community, whenever I am there I do not see anyone in the office and it is usually closed.

Very Nice Place. Larcenous Corporate Office.

My Mother went to the emergency room at the end of February. I had returned to Heather's to retrieve some of her things at which time I told management that she would not be coming back. I was told then that I would be responsible for the March rent only (no services) I agreed as I would then have time to remove her belongings and furniture. She passed away on March 9th. When I talked to them after that, I was told the same thing, March rent only. The apartment was empty by the 3rd week of March and the keys were turned in. I did not receive a final bill until the end of May. Much to my surprise, it also included rent for April! It did NOT include a $500 credit that I had been due since January for an unused pet deposit, even though I had been told on four different occasions that "you should have it by now". I talked to their billing department again and they said the inflated bill came out of corporate and that it "didn't sound right" and they would contact them. On June 27th, I finally received a bill and it had not changed. Two months of rent due from a dead woman and no $500 credit. I will gladly pay the March rent (less $500) but this is outrageous. To be fair, the local Heather's employees are very nice and helpful. But their corporate office is incompetent ...at best.

They weren't expecting me. She apparently was sent an email about me coming, but forgot about it. The woman there talked to me for a few minutes and said they didn't have any rooms, and gave me no reason to think this would be a good place for my mom even if they did have rooms.
