Services Charged A La Carte

I looked at the colony while trying to find a place for my husband. I liked the staff there and the fact that the community was close by and convenient. However, I was uncomfortable with the fact that service were charged a la carte. You pay a base fee for the level of care your loved one needs, and then they add on more charges for meals, for medication reminders, for bathing, etc. This concept scared me.

Management issues

We were unhappy with the waters and would not recommend - because she had an undiagnosed UTI. She fell 3 times before breaking her arm. Finally a UTI test was administered at the emergency room. I feel a trained medical staff should pick this up as I learned it common with elderly. The regular staff tried to do a good job. It is a management issue from the top down. They don't pay staff sufficiently to keep them. High turnover. Also because of the high turnover, care of the residents suffers.

A home for a loved one that had promise, but was a huge disappointment

My husband's care was not good so far as the aids. The nursing staff was really good with the exception of being short staffed. The upper management for the most part were kind and helpful. However, due to being so short staffed, I had total lack of communication to the point of total avoidance with the head nurse. From what we have witnessed with the care services wasn't good. Personal hygiene was not addressed and the direct approach was demeaning. Sorry to say!

Very poor sanitary care

My mom lived in the Ponds area of the Waters at Mayowood of Rochester. She did like her neighbors and enjoyed the activities. However, their sanitary care was very poor. Over the course of a month, they continuously used Depends and a thick pad at the same time. Early in the month, the nurse agreed this was unsanitary and responded to email that all of staff would be receiving training and then would need to sign off on sanitary care. Yet, they continued to use both after several requests to remove the pads from her room. The urine smell was awful; for my mom's room and her neighbor's room. I have no idea how a worker could go into the room and not smell it. When she was confused, their first request was to increase the care plan for an additional $[removed] per month. While in fact, she had a UTI. I encourage anyone considering moving your parents to the speciality care area of the Waters to take a tour and ask to see a room. Also ask to see and understand their sanitary policy.

Very poor management and guest customer service

I’ve been visiting three times a week for the past six months and the front desk has said fewer than five words to me. The only team member you can get a hold of is the business manager. As someone who values customer service and follow through, unfortunately this place is lacking

Would not recommend

From the residents point of view, the aids are brutal, mean, and demoralizing. That has been the biggest issue. The management are all friendly but they are very hard to get a hold of and do not call you back when you reach out. The director we first started with got us in here but then moved on to another facility. Overall it has been a very bad experience and we would not recommend Broadwell Senior Living to others looking.

would not recommend

The Waters is poorly staffed and managed. Every holiday weekend, I have to spend enduring that my parent is getting cared for. There is little staff in place and often times the staff comes from an outside agency. I have filed one complaint with the department of health and will be filing a second one.

not a good experience

My mother was only there at The Waters of Plymouth for eight days, and during that time she had an unreported fall which I only discovered by seeing the bruises and having to inquire myself. After that we had to get her out of there. I think that since they were a newer facility they did not have their nursing components in place very well. It was not a good experience.

Luxurious neglect

The downstairs is absolutely beautiful but once you get on the memory care unit it becomes a fightful nightmare! My loved one was totally neglected we were lied to as a family about cares been given, Dr apt, staff turn around was fast & those who stuck around mostly did the bare minimum. And the simplest request went on answered. I would never advise anyone to move in to their memory care unit.

Don’t bother

Don’t bother even thinking about moving here. The management only care about making a buck. The building was built cheaply. If something breaks down, maintenance won’t be contacted until the next business day (at the earliest). Any repairs that need to be completed will only be done by their staff from the twin cities, no matter how urgent the repair is. Every other senior living complex we’ve asked would have a local repair company come out within four hours. The maintenance staff at The Waters is rude and will blame the residents for mechanical problems that are the result of cheap equipment. Find a better senior living complex, because The Waters on Mayowood will not value you or your loved ones.

Not pleased

We were there when it was new. The food was excellent. The front desk was always friendly. The help was good but as time went on the service declined!!! There were accidents that were NEVER reported. There was some nursing help that was good but the head nurses came and went and you could not get a hold of them. My husband fell, broke bones because no one answered his call. He had broken bones and I was not called nor was a doctor called. We were happy to leave!!!

Parkinson's? Don't Place Your Loved One Here

Choose The Waters if your parent(s) are compliant and agreeable, and always will be. We placed my mother, who has Parkinson's, there in mid November 2015. Three days later the nurse gave my mother her meds too late and soon my dear, 92-pound mom was upset, frightened and lashing out. The Waters called the police. The kind police officers were embarrassed when they arrived: what were they going to do--arrest her? Over the next week and a half, they called the police two more times. Horrible for my mom, my 80-year-old father and my family. In December 2015 we moved her to another similar facility. She has been there eight months. She is not always compliant, has once in a while gotten out of control, but NEVER have they called the police. The Waters does not understand Parkinsons.

Cold food!

A new management company took over the facility. Since then the building is not vacuumed including the stairs. The food is cold. The aides do not respond to the calls in a reasonable amount of time etc... Something needs to be done before the residents vacate the facility. Maybe the corporation is not concerned about it. Big corporations, small concern for individuals.
