My tour of this community was nice. This is a nice community. From what I saw everything appeared to be nice and clean. The staff was kind and friendly. It was a nice tout, but not the place for my brother. The community was a little far for us to travel too. It is a nice place with kind people.

Winning Staff

While the facility is dated, the friendly staff more than makes up for those aesthetics. My mom, who did not want to go initially, has nothing but rave reviews for how sweet the staff is. This has eased her transition tremendously.

A Caring Community With Kind People

We are still in transition here at this community. My mother is having a few health complications. Overall this is a lovely community and we are pleased. They are doing everything they can for my mother in law and her needs. Everybody here is wonderful, they have all been caring and kind. We know she is safe and good hands here. It was a nice experience.

I loved Brookdale. I loved how they seemed to care for the residents as individuals and that it was small and all one level. The only snag is it’s totally out of our price range. There’s no way we could afford to send mom here.

I went to Belvedere on our scheduled time, and found that things had changed there, even put down a deposit, 2 days before Mr. [removed] move in they came to do an assestment and put him at a level 5, reason given he had to have his Parkinson Meds. 6x a day, as he can dress himself feed himself and needs assistance with shaving and a shower, the price went from $2900 a month to $4000.00 and he could not do this financially So I had to let them know he would not be moving in to their facility. Thank you for trying to assist us in our search. but Mr. [removed] will be staying, for the time at The Residences at Park Place.

As with all facilities when promises that are made, follow through is very important. Part of the condition of his residency was that transportation would be provided to visit his wife's grave site every Saturday, but when the first Saturday arrived, they said they do not provide transportation period on the weekends. It seemed like that discrepancy was kind of egregious to me.

So far so good

So far so good at Brookdale Inver Grove Heights. They were very flexible when we thought we had a move in date and then she got sick. My mother did tell me that over the weekend she heard 5 staff members were leaving but my mother has dementia so I am not sure how much of it is true. That's the only thing that kind of took me by surprise but again I am not sure how much is correct. Overall things are going good so far.

Great staff, but boring place

The staff at Hanna Oaks is wonderful. Management, therapists, and caretakers are very friendly and strive to please residents and family alike. Some days there is a strong urine odor, otherwise they keep the facility, including resident's rooms, very clean. They are very responsive to suggestions. The parking lot was poorly lit and uncomfortable at night. I dropped a note in the suggestion box for lighting and it was corrected the following week. My biggest complaint (also the complaint of my family member) is that it is boring for the residents. There is an Activities Coordinator who schedules at least two activities a day. They are so very uninteresting: Bingo, classic movies, rememberence, prayer, chair exercises, etc. Trivia sounds the most interesting, but I haven't witnessed how it is. A previous resident moved because they were horribly bored. They did have a cook-out last week, which I hear was fun. Hopefully they get more creative in the activities to challenge and stimulate the residents more. I also think an exercise room would be beneficial for an energy/therapy outlet.

A nice place

It's a nice place. People are very friendly. My mother says the food is up and down. I think they all cost a lot. The value is fair. Overall, it was a pretty good experience for my mom. They have activities here. They take them out shopping. They have games for them and people come in and play music. They do an excellent job at taking care of my mother. The Brookdale Bluewater Bay is a nice place for mom.

Smaller is Better

Your loved one needs at least 4-6 weeks to adjust to the environment and so do you! The staff is very supportive of both the family and residents. It is definitely a family atmosphere: are there kinks, yes, but I think you have to work through them, like any other family. Communication is the key with everyone from the top on down. We give the positive and the negative. We know most of the staff and residents by name and they know us. All our concerns have been addressed and information is free flowing. Our loved one is now too busy to talk on the phone and remarks how everyone is like family! We visited 6 facilities , this was the last one and knew immediately that this was the right choice. I think it's a big plus that it's a small facility and we are very happy with our choice.

Nice place. I did like the fact that this place is able to accommodate Mom as her health would detoriate, everything is on one level. Quite small 19 or 20 units total. Only suites available here, but their still a little bigger than ones at Oak Ridge.
