The floors in her room were filthy! Garbage can in the bathroom was overflowing! Although I didn't eat lunch, it looked unappetizing and she had to ask for salad dressing for her salad.

Public areas are well maintained. Clients rooms are neglected. They do occasionally run a mop over the main traffic area if the room. Under the bed (hospital twin) is always dirty. I do not believe they have ever mopped the Bathroom floor. I bought cleaning supplies and clean his room a minimum of once a week. I clean the toilet, shower and vanity. For the most part the caregivers are very nice. After the first six months the turnover rate was astonishing. Administration [name removed] is brash. They said they would help him shower every other day. As a rule he showers once a week unless I handle it. On four occasions after speaking with him on his phone after business hours, I called to ask for someone to check on him. My call was answered by their Memory Care staff who said they would pass on my concerns to the assisted living side. I had to go to the facility on each of these occasions myself. I did call once and was able to speak with the correct staff. The food tastes good. The meats are always dry and over cooked. They do NOT prepare diabetic meals and serve him sweet tea a sugar desserts. That is in the administration not the chef. The activities are lame and not designed for people with their limitations. Hearing and limited mobility mostly. There is no attempt to have residence participate. They are given a copy of monthly activities at the first of the month and participation is on them. Most have declined memory and are not able to attend without some assistance. This may not be a fair rating as I have nothing to compare to. I feel that [fee removed]/month is high. Caregiver staff has no training on how to manage a catheter or how to manage clients special needs. He has dementia but it isn't advanced. They let him stay in bed until 10 or 11. I can only assume it is easier for them. He always misses breakfast. I would not and will not recommend Laurel Glen to anyone with a family member who is not capable of 90% of caring for themselves.

Many improvements could be made in quality of care staff and meals. This is a difficult industry to staff, and I know management works hard to provide a positive environment for residents. They can't seem to find the right "chef" although they do keep trying. Residents complain about meal quality regularly.

My loved ones room rarely gets cleaned. They really need to have security at night. Unfortunately, they don't have enough staff and therefore many activities are canceled/nonexistent. Also, the dining room servers are very rude!

I would recommend Silver Creek to others. I just hope that people understand the limitations of assisted living facilities in Florida and exactly what the costs are, for add on assistance. I have learned a lot in the last few months. They have made changes in the last couple of months, so we will see how things go.

Food is awful and the facility has tried several cooks. Food is repeated used over and over for different dishes. There are no off campus activities. It would be nice to have a change is scenery to allow residents to see a world outside of the day to day. The on-site activities are monotonous and repetitive.

My loved one was previously a resident at Barclay House of Baton Rouge and overall the experience was okay. The staff, with a few exceptions, were just okay. The manager was wonderful. The food and the value for cost were both okay. The activities were good.

The memory unit staff were angry about life. Their bitterness could be felt and seen on their faces. They appeared put-out by every request, cold as ice, impatient & resentful of even walking up the hallway to open the locked door to let in visitors . Very few exceptions. I believe most folks like myself held back words many times wanting to avoid even the possibility of retribution. So you're loved one, whether they know it or not is treated less kind than they would ever have wanted. Not assaultive, but cold, rude and hateful. I was fortunate to be able to visit every day to every other day at a variety of times & with no predictability. As far as the business end- Before I signed on the dotted line I confirmed Silver Creek would exchange any necessary info with the insurance company with whom my folks had an assisted living insurance policy for which they paid each month for 20 years. What they didn't tell me at that time was that their licensure had expired two months before my mom's arrival. Insurance companies require licensed facilities. Though Covid set inspections back which is understandable, it was very difficult to get Silver Creek to discuss their lack of licensing with her ins. Co. I finally got the claim completed two weeks ago and it took an entire year, many trips to find & speak with management, phone calls to the state licensure oversight folks, and a personal visit to the insurance company.

The apartments are nice and the staff and residents are fine for the most part. They have an angry employee that rants about how much they hate their job and treats the clients poorly- unfortunately it is the woman who cleans their apartments (her work is messy and she is rude). They often run out of food options and the food they serve is less than quality. They are currently having a high turnover rate in support staff such as serves, cooks, hairdressers, and activities directors. In the current economy this place is fine for the price but it could definitely improve.

My brother passed late February and what with hospitalizations and PT he hardly used the facility. But what experience we/he had I would not choose Silver Creek and would not recommend it. It is Imperative to match the physical/ medical / mental condition of the prospective resident to what the facility can actually provide.

I think it's a reasonable place to consider. There are probably other places that are more established with good reputations but are hard to get into or cost more. The building is only a couple years old so it's bright, modern, lots of sitting areas. There is a large courtyard if you want to sit outside. Care has gotten better and new nursing director is good. Facility is clean but room cleaning could be better. As with any assisted living you need someone to advocate for the resident. Food is barely mediocre and menu does not change much. Dining room moves incredibly slow and staff not very attentive. Activities are very female oriented. They bring in entertainment and have a happy hour Monday-Friday. Other residents are mostly pleasant. They allow pets and a cat is great company for my husband. Overall I am satisfied.

We've had a lot of personnel issues but things seem to be settling down now. The residents are the biggest asset. Most people are very friendly. The food is good. The renovation has spruced things up, but it is still an older building. I do like my apartment layout. There are lots of different floor plans. We have on site therapy and home health.

It was a horrible experience working with my dads caregivers/caregiving organizations. In all the times that I visited my dad in memory care, I only saw planned calendar activities going on twice.Very difficult to coordinate visits to the salon. Salon had a hard time contacting memory care staff to get him to his appointments. They did not coordinate with hospice very well. I didn't even get condolences from the facility or staff when my dad passed away there. I only picked the facility based on cost.

I would not recommend that anyone move into The Blake at Flowood or move their loved one there. Conditions there have never been consistent & have been declining for the last few years. Staff are underpaid & overworked & typically do not stay long, competent or not. The Blake charges premier prices for less than premier care. You would do well to look elsewhere.

Mom eats her own yogurt and breakfast. The lunch and supper is super cheap junk for the price paid .she eats very little. It should be a small fillet mignon with baked potato, spinach salad and soup!!

I was misled about a couple of things. I feel like I was told what I wanted to hear instead of what is. The staff and the residents are awesome. I don't feel like I'm getting what I'm going to be paying for. I've had a leak in my bathroom since I moved in that still hasn't been fixed. If it was just one instance I would be fine however it is several things that are not what I was told by the salesman that were not true. The food is not the best. There is not enough variety. The menu is similar every week. There's not enough activities. There's so much space here that's not used that could be used for gatherings and other things. I was under the assumption that my room would be cleaned once a week. It's vacuumed and I get clean towels but that's about it. I have an iPhone with unlimited everything but I have no signal in my room. I was led to believe that there was community WiFi but once I go into my place there's nothing. I thought that this was included. Now I have to pay for WiFi just to be able to use my phone. I also spend more money on food because the food here isn't very good. I'm not used to eating frozen foods and lots of rice and instant potatoes. I really like the staff here and the residents. However I don't think I get what I'm paying for.

They tried to make things more friendly for residents, but all they did was make it worse. They want us to make friends, but replaced the furniture where residents could gather and chat with modern uncomfortable I've been here months and in that time experienced a complete turnover of staff with the caring ones replaced. The headstaff leaves early in the day and frequently absent on weekends. Food is mediocre. It would be nice if"corporate "would talk to residents instead of worrying about pictures on the walls and furniture and keeping staff

It was not what I anticipated. I expected more residents my age or close to it. 71? All I have met are older. Late 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Seeing the Fire Truck and EMS arrive is almost a daily basis. Very sad and discouraging. ??
