what is a semiprivate room?

They tell you one thing when you come in for a visit. But once you move in, you see it's a whole different story. The nursing staff is great, but they have no physical therapy or any type of therapy for the residents. Nor do they have anything to stimulate the residents' minds at all. And it's causing the residents to get depressed. The sad part is - this is supposed to be memory care center. What I see here is something I would expect from a nursing home.

We placed my brother in Memory Care when this facility opened. At first, he was happy. The facility was brand new and the facility showed beautifully, but it quickly became clear that Management did not have a handle on the staffing. My brother was over medicated to “control” him. There were never day trips (as promised) and my brother became an “inmate.(Management said it was due to Covid restrictions.) There was no continuity in day-to-day activities which caused confusion and anger for my brother. He fell several times because nobody was there to assist him. He was not bathed properly, and many of his belongings disappeared from his room. When we checked out of the facility, the Nurse overseeing his medications (probably the 5th or 6th RN since his occupancy) gave us an incomplete list of medications. We discovered that my brother was getting medications that he should not be given, and not getting medications that he should have received. Management was substandard.

I was foolish and did the "buy down" to try and save the family money in the long-run. My father died after 3 months, my mother could no longer live in the independent setting. even though they had said that there was a possibility of a refund depending on the circumstances, they refused to give us anything back at all. The $5000.00 we gave them was basically a big gift to them. They said they have "compassion for seniors." Where was that compassion to my mother when her husband died? Bad choice to spend some of their very little remaining funds to try and save money in the long run. It's a big gamble, learn from my mistake.

Do not go to this community, they are currently understaffed and I find this community dangerous. It is beautiful outside but it is the worst care that we have experienced.

We experienced bad service. My husband fell four times, and the last time he broke a hip. We're missing some items. They could never find anything we lost, including a ring and a watch. Our clothes were labeled, turned up missing, and were never returned. They broke a snow globe with our anniversary in it. Every time we call to check in with them about the items that we've lost, they don't' return our calls. We've had a very bad experience with them, and we're moving out.

The staff is not attentive to the residence and the rooms are not very clean. They show you a very clean and nice room, to begin with, but you need to see a room in use to get the real picture. There are a urine smell and diapers on the floor. I saw several people that needed to be changed and their pants soaked. At lunch, they really could not monitor who was eating and who was not. There are times people would take others' food due to them not eating but the staff would not know who ate and who didnt. They have motion detectors in the rooms but unfortunately, they are not monitored.

In August we placed my mother in Belleview Heights and we had the worst experience ever. We had a hard time communicating with anyone their, we noticed bruises and asked questions that never recieved answers that satisfied our concerns. We did report our concerns to the state and they investigated and as a result of that investigation pulled our mother from the community in October. I would strongly recommend doing your home work and checking out what complaints have been filed and ask that question before putting a loved one in this facility. I am writing this review so that you think before placing your loved one here. I have no finical motive other than to state my experience with this facility., meaning we have not brought legal action against this facility.

This place is terrible!!! Stay away. The food is terrible, the management doesn't last long and they don't care about the residents. Everything is old and dirty.

The place is clean enough but they have a real problem with roaches in the rooms. The staff is friendly enough but does not go out of their way above and beyond. The food has really gone downhill and the portions get smaller and smaller each day. Not a good value for the rent you pay. The management is not consistent or non-existent. Parking is a real issue too. Even if you have a handicap sticker it's hard to find a spot. If you can afford $2,000+ a month look elsewhere.

I stopped by for a tour but I didn't like the feel of the community when I walked through the door. The guy who helped me didn't seem to really care to help me as much after telling him I was touring only. I never got a chance to look at the community, he didn't have time to give us a tour.

Aurora location - understaffed; limited food for residents; limited activities because of limited staff; constant turnover; no administration around; promises to reeeeeel you in and then nothing as promised. VERY EXPENSIVE FOR LACK OF PROGRAM AND FOOD! Residents just wander around, go into each others' rooms, RESIDENTS NOT WELL SUPERVISED!

The Clairmont is not a full pledge independent living place. It's like a stepping stone to assisted living. A small percentage of residents are independent. Sometimes the food is excellent. Sometimes the facility will run out of a food item. The parking lot is not cared for, poorly lit and area is not a safe neighborhood. Once this company has your money ?? you are no longer special....just a revenue object. The building is out of code.. Needs a major roof/drainage system all throughout the property. The rooms are seriously quiet at night ?? a big plus for this lovely ole place. I would fire all the top mgmt. and start over.

Highly disappointed with the service at this residence, have a difficult time finding parking at the retirement center yet see employees park right in front. If you have a question it is addressed as if you are in the wrong. Most unhelpful and rude service.

My experience with Summerfield Estates retirement community has been anything but positive. Their management team, I believe a married couple, seem to be most interested in PR rather than the true comfort, happiness and health of their residents. While I was visiting their facility one of their residents had an "accident" upon leaving the dining hall after lunch. Instead of calling a qualified carpet cleaning company I had the misfortune to watch one of their unfortunate employees have to clean the "trail" by hand while other residents were still eating just feet away. Disgusting! One would think they would have an electric shampooer for this kind of occurrence. If this is the way they treat their employees just imagine how they treat their residents once they have that signed contract! If the proper authorities were contacted I'm sure they would still find feces embedded in the carpet just outside the dining room and the sitting area in the lobby. Don't be fooled. This is not where you want your loved ones to spend their golden years. The only gold being is going into the coffers of whomever owns Summerfield Estates retirement. My humble advise would be to do some well advised research and find a more suitable, healthful and happy home for your parents. I'm sure they did the same for you and they deserve the best in their latter years.

Horrible, horrible experience. The managers were not on-site and the office door was left unlocked and anyone could go in (including the postman and myself!). The duo that was to show us around gave us the inquisition on my father and wanted to make sure he would be a good match for them. After being asked very inappropriate questions, we left after about 10 minutes.

Cons: 9 story high-rise Built in 80's Requires lease (thru each Dec) Needs and is undergoing renovations VERY limited outdoor walking Pros: Dr/rehab access/transportation

Beware! Up until the past couple of weeks my family was satisfied with the care my mother received at the Haven. Recently we were informed that Covid 19 had been found at the Haven. This week my mother developed a fever, and the staff at the Haven sent her to Allegheny General. She has tested positive for the virus but has remained a symptomatic for several days. The hospital is ready to discharge her but the Haven has refused to allow her back. They have stated that they are not equipped to handle residents with Covid despite the fact that she got it while in their care. My father paid her bill for the month of October and as of [date removed] they are refusing to issue a refund. She had a private room at the facility and quarantined there in May when she was first admitted We are now scrambling to find a safe place for mom. The situation is intolerable. They have had six months to formulate a working plan for this eventuality and gave us absolutely no indication that this was a possibility. They have absolutely handled this with a distinct lack of professionalism and compassion. We are horrified.

I am so sad to report that several years after moving my Momma in to a fabulous welcoming most enjoyable INDEPENDENT home... she will most likely be moving in with my husband and I. The Harrison Regent management team is without a doubt the worst yet they sadly don't have the residents best interest in mind they are selfish and very cruel at times.. They have been through many managers...while staying there there have been one older delightful couple, two younger couples one whom divorced and the wife continued living within the community managing, a younger man, and two women the current being one of them, very sweet and nice to your face but if you have an opinion that differs from hers expect to be placed on a poo poo list. The food used to be amazing when sweet [name removed] was Chef there but since then there have been complaints after complaints with absolutely nothing being done about it cold, hard food. As for activities they don't happen either please don't let them make you think it has everything to do with COVID 19 this is an INDEPENDENT LIVING the folks that live here are of sound mind they are adults it is basically a 55 or older apt complex and right now they are literally mean and bullying residents I love all of these residents so much we have been through so many friends passing away and there are so many so alone and needing friends but have been quarantined for so long to their rooms it makes my heart break, I have heard staff raise their voices to folks to put their masks on, this is not mandated this is recommended a choice. Horrible place to leave your loved one. Miss [Name removed] does not care about anything place is falling apart. Not enough care staff,they have about 4-5 care staff every day and 46+ residents to take care of, not enough care. Do not place your loved one here this will be a bad decision to make.
